Tony just grinned and ignored the disgruntled look from Logan. Rei would have been more worried if she hadn't figured Logan would loosen up with time.
Being fairly familiar with Wolverine as a character, Faye wasn't too worried. She was going to have her hands full with Tony, anyways.
"You know, we should visit Portal, too," she said, snickering. "Grab a Wheatley or a GLaDOS for Tony to play with." |
Rei snorted when Tony perked up at that. "Don't encourage him, he's going to be fiddling with our tech enough as it is."
"Only if you give it to him," Faye pointed out. And she did not plan on handing Tony any of her tech unless she needed to.
"I'm not." Rei shook her head. "That just has bad idea written all over it."
Faye snickered.
"Well, we'll see if we make it out that way," she said. "Come on, you know you want to see a personality core yelling 'SPACE!' at him because he can't make it shut up." |
"Oh I know." Rei grinned.
"You know that's a challenge now right?" Tony smirked. |
"If we remember by the time we wander past Portal," Faye said, "then yes, go ahead." Because she was sure by then they'd all forget about finding him a personality core to tinker with.
Tony pulled out his phone and made a note of it before putting his phone away again. Because now he had permission, too.
Faye noticed.
"And now all I can imagine is giving you a personality core and all of a sudden it having Jarvis's voice." She shook her head. "I know that's what will happen." |
Tony just grinned at her. He wasn't going to deny it.
Rei snorted and shook her head. "Now now, let's stop giving him ideas and not think about how much trouble he could get into." |
Faye just grinned and got up to go dig something out for lunch.
Rei relaxed there for a while. She figured it would probably be a few days at least until someone else joined the group, which gave them all time to settle in a bit. Which was a good thing.
Settling was definitely a good thing, as far as Bruce was concerned. He was glad for the chance to get used to being in a group.
Faye, on the other hand, was just glad to settle for the day. She was exhausted after all the hiking, and she just wanted to fall over for a while. |
Rei ended up setting up her tent there for the night, yawning after the sun went down.
"We can go hike again tomorrow," she muttered. "Maybe." |
"Please no," Faye replied quietly. "I want to just collapse in a real bed and pass out for days. I hurt all over."
"Well we're days away from real beds so this will have to do for tonight." Rei sighed and stretched. "Maybe we can stay here tomorrow too."
"I was not built for constant camping," Faye whined as she set up her sleeping bag. She flopped over onto the bedroll and groaned.
Tony snorted. "Better get used to it," he said. "Or upgrade to PD rooms, one of the two."
"Upgrade to what-now?" Faye asked, turning to look at him.
Tony rolled his eyes. "PD balls. Pocket Dimension. They're rooms in the bishiballs that trainers can access if we leave the doors open. They're an optional upgrade."
Faye blinked, sorting through the new information.
"Like giant sub-space pockets?" she asked. "There are rules that make things like that Not Work. Rules like physics." |
"This entire world is ruled by a computer program, physics are just a minor inconvenience." Tony shrugged.
Faye paused.
"That's actually kind of awesome," she said. |
"Yes it is. That's why the programmers can add space and people and animals when they need to." Tony shrugged. "The world tends to expand and add new territories about once a year, maybe more if there's a lot to add." He grinned at the girls. He kept track of these things, even though no one had yet figured out how to hack into the program.
