Faye let the guys keep an eye on the little ones and went to help Rei. That seemed to be the safest option at the moment.
Rei made the necessary mass amounts of ramen and moved off to the side to let the little ones get theirs first. Once they'd all settled down to eat, she got her own food.
Faye followed Rei's lead, getting some once the little ones had, and then stepping aside so Tony and Bruce could help themselves.
Rei settled down to eat and then read for a little while. The chibis started falling asleep after a little while, curling up in a pile of little cute bodies.
When Faye noticed the chibis falling asleep, she rummaged around in her bag for a moment before pulling out some blankets. If nothing else, she could just put the blankets on them and let them sleep in a puppy pile.
Rei had basically the same idea, handing the blankets off to Erik so he could make sure all the chibis were covered and warm. When she started yawning, though, her two made her go to bed.
Faye managed to stay up another twenty minutes or so, but eventually Bruce made her go to bed as well. He was turning out to be quite the mother hen when he wasn't Hulked out.
Rei woke up in the morning a little after the chibis did. She knew because she woke up to quiet giggles and murmurs. She opened one eye blearily just as one of the chibis scrambled up onto the bed to get a closer look at her and she froze, not wanting to scare them off and just a little freaked out because how did they even get in they're too short to reach the doorknobs.
The same thing was happening to Faye in her room, and Faye was absolutely not hiding under her blankets from them. Not at all. Nope. It was just easier to keep her metaphorical distance if she couldn't see them.
Rei looked up at the Clint currently sitting on her chest, and he grinned down at her. He was missing a front tooth. He was absolutely adorable and Rei wanted to keep him. When a Tony clambered up to join him, poking her nose a few times, Rei had to keep herself from hugging both of them.
"Alright, boys," Erik said, sounding amused. "Off you get. Unless you'd like Logan to remove you?" |
Both chibis scrambled down again at that.
Faye, meanwhile, had a little Kitty Pryde phasing her face through the blankets to look at her curiously. Faye just blinked back at her. |
Tony snorted at the two as he walked into Faye's PD room. "Off, little brat," he said, shooing the chibis off away and out of the room. "I want food, and I can't get food until they get up, and they can't get up until you get out. So out."
"Wonderful chain of logic, Tony," Faye said from under the blanket. "Don't you know how to cook?"
"Bruce won't let me. Besides, you're sleeping on the PD capsules. You never took them off last night. So we can't get to the food."
"Alright, alright, I'm getting up," Faye said, peeking out from under the blankets.
Tony grinned as he herded the last of the chibis out of the room and over to Erik so the other bishi could keep an eye on them. While he hovered over whoever was going to be cooking.
The one cooking ended up being Faye, to start with. At least until Rei came and took over.
Rei was happy to take over once she was awake enough, making enough pancakes to feed everyone. Thank goodness for dry pancake mix.
Once everyone had been fed, she put everything away, stretched, and looked around at the bishis. "So I take it we're heading the rest of the way back now. Well, most of the way back, we'll stop and not escort you all to the city." |
Bruce nodded.
"It isn't too much farther," he said. "We can make it today." |
Rei nodded and grabbed her bag, getting ready to go again. She figured the sooner they got going, the sooner they'd be done and things could go back to some semblance of normal.
Faye did the same, making sure she had everything and that none of the chibis had tried to snitch some of her stuff while she wasn't looking. She wouldn't put it past one or two of them.
Once they were all ready, they walked for a while before Tony stopped, looking at the girls.
"And here is where we get to wait," he said, nabbing Faye's bishidex again to play around a bit. |
Faye nodded and set her things down, and didn't bother telling him to put the dex back. It would keep him occupied, and she'd get a faster, smoother-running dex back in return.
Once Bruce was sure Tony would look after them, he nodded to Erik and Logan to keep going. They would make sure the chibis got back safely, and then come back. |
It wasn't difficult to get the chibis back to the city and get them to their families again.
Well. Most of them, anyway. Erik walked back with a Loki walking a little behind him, eyes bright and curious. |
The reason for the Loki tagging along was soon very clear.
"Forward, rage-beast!" Thor shouted in a little high-pitched voice, grinning widely and pointing. The chibi was perched on Bruce's shoulders, and Bruce himself just looked resigned to it. Faye had to bite her lip to keep from laughing, even though a few giggles did slip through. |
