Tony sat down next to her to wait it out with her. He didn't say anything, but he didn't move away from her, either.
It took almost a half hour for Lea to settle down again, and then she was shaking just a bit.
"Well. Unpleasant is one way to describe that." |
"Better, though?" Tony asked, looking her over. "How does the new code feel?"
"It's still settling in." Lea made a face. "It's weird, it's both not as pushy as the last code and more pushy. It's not trying to make me do anything, but it's giving me all sorts of information I do not need right now."
"It should be sturdier," Tony said. "Not as fragile as the last one. Mostly self-contained, so you don't have to waste energy keeping it under control."
"Maybe after I get it programmed to stop giving me "helpful" information." Lea shook her head a bit, blinking a few times. "It's like an overeager pushy spoiled puppy."
"It should quit that soon," Tony said. "But it's okay otherwise?"
"So far. I'll test more after it's finished settling in." Lea shrugged. She figured a day in the workshop would tell her real quick if it needed tweaking or not.
"Alright. Let me know if you have any problems," Tony said. "You shouldn't, because I made it, but just in case."
Lea snorted. "Well, at least the size of your ego hasn't changed," she said dryly, pushing her chair over to her normal station. "Toss me a new project from the R&D bin, would you?"
Tony fished around in the slush bin for a moment before tossing her a random little gadget.
"Knock yourself out," he said. |
Lea examined it and blinked as Extremis gave her information. She really needed to make a program to give Tony an idea what it was doing, because she had the feeling it would need a bit of tweaking.
Tony was busy making little notes to his file on the virus and serum, writing down observations and such. He needed all the information he could get, if he was going to replicate it properly.
Surprisingly, Lea set down the gadget after less than half an hour and turned to her computer, starting to type quickly. She just needed to get a program up so Tony could monitor what was happening more easily, so that way he'd know.
Tony only noticed she'd put the gadget down when she started typing.
"Find something interesting?" he asked, moving over. |
"I can't express how this is going," Lea said, glancing at him before returning to her coding. "I just need to show you. You'll do better being able to see how the virus works in action anyway."
"That good, huh?" Tony asked, watching her work. His expression changed as he watched. "That's the sexiest code I've ever seen."
Lea laughed a bit. "Well if I knew it was that easy to get your attention, I'd do this more often," she teased, pausing briefly to think of how to do the next part before she went back to writing code.
"No, really, jesus, that's the most elegant piece of code I've ever seen," Tony said, leaning in to read it. "It's gorgeous, how did you-- did you just put this together on the spot?"
"Yeah. Extremis is helping out a lot with this." Maybe a bit of an exaggeration, but Lea wasn't used to the praise.
"Well, whatever it is, this is awesome," Tony said, grinning. "What are you trying to code?"
"A way for you to see into my head so you can see how Extremis is working." Lea glanced at him. "I'm going to hook myself up to my bit of the system, for no more than half an hour. Set a timer in case I don't remember."
Tony looked like a kid on Christmas.
"Oh I've got to see this," he said. "Please tell me I get to watch, because I totally want to watch." |
"Idiot, this is for your benefit, so you can see Extremis at work without having to rely on me," Lea said with a shrug. "Once this is finished you get to see."
Tony grinned and rolled his chair over, settling in to watch. Because this was worlds better than what he was working on.
