Loki nodded and turned his attention away from them again. Now he had something to occupy his mind, and he wasn't about to be distracted from it.
Lessa ushered Lavender out of the room with her, shutting the door quietly.
"See, was that really so bad?" She grinned. |
"He gives me the creeps," Lavender replied. "I don't like being in the same room with him." And she didn't even entirely know why, either. There was just something about Loki that set her teeth on edge.
"Must just be you, then." Lessa shrugged. She didn't have that problem. "Anyway, we should go see what else we can do to prepare, in case he does find the idiot we've been looking for."
"Maybe..." Lavender mused. She shook her head. "Yeah, come on, I know a few protective charms to put on your things, and there are a few potions I want you to keep with you, just in case."
Lessa nodded and followed her. Hey, she knew she wasn't much good in a fight, but she could carry potions and stuff. That wasn't a problem.
Lavender rummaged around in the trunk that contained her finished potions. She pulled out a few flasks and several small vials.
"Here," she said. "These are yours, use them at your discretion. They're all labelled with what they are, what they do, and dosages." |
"Good." Lessa examined each of them so she'd have an idea before she stored them again. "Need me to do anything else?"
"Is there anything of yours that needs the protection spells renewed?" Lavender asked. "May as well redo those before we forget."
"I think the protection spells are all up to date," Lessa said, tilting her head a bit as she surveyed her belongings. "Coulson made us redo them before we came, so unless you think any of them need to be bolstered for some reason..."
"Then they should be alright for the moment," Lavender said. "Let me know if you notice any wearing thin."
"Will do." Lessa stretched a bit and glanced at the nearest clock. "I was thinking of starting dinner, if you wanted to go check on your boys." She grinned teasingly.
"My boys? I have no idea what you're talking about," Lavender said, although she did turn a little pink. "Tony and Bruce are just colleagues."
"Uh huh. And that's why you get up in the middle of the night to go visit them, and why you go spend time with them a lot. But you're just colleagues. Right." Lessa smiled knowingly.
Lavender fought back a blush.
"Really," she said. "Just colleagues." She was quiet for a moment. "I'm trying to learn wandless magic." |
"Ah. That's difficult." Lessa smiled a bit. "And those two are helping you out with that?"
Lavender nodded.
"They want to keep it all under wraps, so nobody higher up will know about it," she said. "But it's too good of an opportunity to pass up." |
"Well, that should be interesting. Working with two geniuses to figure out wandless magic." Lessa grinned. "I should come watch sometime."
"Bruce already knows it," Lavender said. "He's teaching Tony, and I asked if I could tag along too."
"Oh that must be entertaining," Lessa said with a little grin. "The calmest one teaching the most volatile one?"
"It's pretty amusing," Lavender replied, nodding. "And very instructive. And I wouldn't say Bruce is the calmest, but he's certainly the most patient."
"True, patient is a better word." Lessa grinned. "Well, that must be very amusing to watch. Maybe I'll pop in sometime."
"Let me know when so I can give them some warning," Lavender said. "They're a bit paranoid about people knowing."
Lessa snorted. "I'm hardly people," she pointed out. "And I do know how to keep secrets." But she made a mental note to announce herself before just walking in.
"I'll warn them that you want to drop in on practice," Lavender said. She grinned teasingly. "At least I'm already used to working with an insomniac, so working with them at night isn't hard."
