"Give him appropriate mental care," Loki said. "Sigyn... Sigyn will emerge again when she is ready."
Lessa nodded and glanced at Tony, who nodded silently and left the room. "Alright. Well, I was thinking of starting dinner."
And that seemed to be the signal for everyone else to disperse and go do other things for a while. |
"Of course," Loki said, stepping back. He took that as his signal to return to his chambers, and glanced at his brother. Thor nodded and ushered Loki out of the room.
Lavender sighed. "I'm going to do some research," she said. "Make a few calls. The name Sigyn is familiar, I'm not sure where I've read it before, so I want to find out." |
"You go do that. I'm going to go cook." Lessa had watched Loki go with a little frown, but she hadn't said anything about it.
Lavender paused.
"You okay?" she asked, looking at her friend. |
"Yeah, I'm fine." Lessa shook herself a little and smiled. "Just thinking what exactly this could mean."
"What, the situation?" Lavender asked. "We'll figure it out. It's our job."
"Yeah. I know." Lessa shook herself and started to get out ingredients for dinner and cookies.
"I'll bring my things down into the main room," Lavender said. "Give a holler if you need extra hands or anything alright?"
"Will do." Lessa started working on dinner, since that she could let sit while she made the cookies. It took her a while to get everything done, and she left most of the cookies out to be devoured. But she took a plate with her to give to Loki, knocking quietly on his door.
Loki wasn't sure whether to be surprised or not at the knock on his door.
"Enter," he said, glancing over to see who it was. It was likely either Thor or Lessa; nobody else bothered to visit him. |
Lessa entered slowly, looking at him for a few moments.
"I wanted to thank you. For helping earlier. It was... nice, to not have to try to goad you into answering." She smiled a bit, moving over to set the plate of cookies on the table. |
"The situation required it," Loki replied. He didn't move to stop her from setting down the plate, however, letting her do as she pleased.
"Even still. Thank you." Lessa hesitated for a few moments. "I know there's probably nothing I can do, but if there is anything I can do to make you more comfortable here...?"
"This is far more comfortable than my last cell, I assure you," Loki said . He glanced at her. "But I appreciate the offer," he added.
Lessa nodded. "Just let me know," she reiterated before she turned to give him some time alone again, since he didn't seem to want her around most of the time.
"Wait." Loki surprised himself with the word, but kept going. "If you would like to stay, I would not object." Curiously, he was being entirely truthful.
Lessa blinked and turned to look at him, surprised. But she didn't leave, instead going back over to settle in a chair near him.
"I don't understand how you haven't gone crazy yet in here." |
"I'm sure many would argue that I was already in such a state when I arrived," Loki replied, sprawling a bit on an armchair.
"Yes, well, there's crazy like everyone here crazy, and then there's certifiable, throw you in a padded cell crazy." Lessa shrugged.
Loki paused.
"Padded cell?" he asked, finally giving in to his curiosity. "I am unfamiliar with this term." |
"It's, ah, a room that's all padded, it's where people go that are likely to hurt themselves or others." Lessa shrugged.
"And this is used frequently for the mentally unstable?" Loki asked. "Interesting. I suppose it would be necessary, without restraining magics."
"In some cases, yes," Lessa agreed. She looked over at him. "But this is better than that option, I think."
"Indeed," Loki said. "I find I much prefer a gilded cage to a... padded room."
