Lessa was already dealing with crowd control, keeping everyone fairly calm and telling the SHIELD-approved story. Fortunately New Yorkers liked the Avengers so no one was upset that a building had gotten a bit smashed.
They were indignant that New York kept getting targeted, though. Tony snorted. "Looks like your partner is good for something besides being a wallflower," he commented. |
Lavender shrugged a bit.
"I'm the magic one, she takes care of the more practical, non-magical things. It works out," she said. |
Tony nodded. "Well, since she's got crowd control covered, I think I'll head back to the tower and see if Jarvis has got anything yet on that language."
|
Lavender nodded.
"We'll meet you there," she said. Then she went to go help Lessa with crowd control. |
Tony headed back to the Tower and started analyzing the magic the guy had used as well as the language. Because, hey, might as well.
Lessa looked over at Lavender as they walked back. "Notice that Stark didn't seem freaked out or anything by the magic?" |
"I did notice that," Lavender replied, nodding. "Banner, as well. It's strange."
|
"It is," Lessa agreed quietly before she shrugged. "Well, let's get back. May as well, since the guy vanished."
|
Lavender nodded.
"Walking or Apparating?" she asked. "I'll only be able to Apparate to the front door, someone put up anti-Apparation wards on the tower itself." |
"Let's just walk today. It's pretty nice out." Lessa shrugged and started back towards the tower, content to take her time.
|
Lavender nodded. That was fine with her. She stretched a bit and walked with her friend.
"You saw that nutjob, right?" she asked after a moment, grinning. "The cheesy cape and plastic helmet?" |
"That was terrible. Truly terrible." Lessa shook her head. "He really believed what he was saying, too. He felt that he was better than everyone else."
|
"Thing is," Lavender said, "he had at least some power. Enough to create a mirror shield, at least."
|
"Which is odd," Lessa said with a shrug. "What I want to know is how he got all these ideas in the first place, and why no one's heard of him before now."
|
Lavender nodded.
"Yeah," she said. "He was using a crystal and a book, I remember. But they weren't... typical." |
"The crystal certainly wasn't, even I could tell that," Lessa said dryly. "Well, maybe start researching?"
|
Lavender nodded.
"I might have some contacts who might know something," she said. "I'll talk to them." |
Lessa nodded. "Well, I guess let me know if you need any help. Otherwise, I'll see if I can get any answers out of Stark in a little bit."
|
"I'll let you know, I promise," Lavender said, nodding.
|
Lessa nodded and headed over to the elevator once they were in the tower again, although she headed to her room first to write up a quick report.
|
Lavender went to her own room for a bit to change and write down the things that she needed to talk to some of her Auror contacts about. Once she did that, she wandered towards the kitchen to see if she could put something together to eat.
|
By that time, Tony had figured out that the magic the guy had used was at least partially in Norse, meaning (to him) Asgardian or something similar. Meaning he had to question Loki.
Which he really didn't want to do. So he went to go make coffee to stall for a bit. |
Lavender was already in the kitchen putting together a sandwich. She glanced over when Tony wandered towards the coffee machine.
"Hey," she said. "Want one? Turkey, roast beef, and bacon. And lettuce and tomato and mayo and such, too, but the meat's most important." |
Tony shook his head a bit. "Nah, I'm just getting some coffee before I have to go talk to Loki." He made a face.
|
Lavender blinked.
"Talk to Loki about what?" she asked, curious. |
"Whatever that guy used, it was in Norse, so it was Asgardian magic. Or at least not Earthly magic." Tony shrugged.
