Tony's eyes narrowed a bit but he waited for Loki to finish with the water. "So what do you know about the spell?"
Loki could feel the truth potion affecting him, which was slightly surprising, but he wasn't the Master of Lies for nothing. And the best lies had the most truth in them.
"More than you," he replied, smirking slightly. |
Tony actually twitched. Oh he wanted to be rid of Loki. Very badly.
"Do you know how it works?" And yes, he was aware he'd have to phrase things carefully. |
"In general," Loki replied. "I know not the exact spell used, but the concept is a familiar one."
"How does the spell work?" That would be good to know, in case they had to deal with it again.
"I know not." Because Tony hadn't asked about the concept, and Loki had already said he didn't know the exact spell.
"Then how does the concept work?" Tony caught on quick. He was a genius after all.
Damn. He was catching on. Loki refrained from heaving a sigh.
"In theory, it requires sufficient power to open a hole in the fabric of space. Nothing on the scale of the Tesseract, mind, but still enough to move a man," he replied, managing to sound bored. "Child's play, really. I managed such a trick when I was a boy." He paused. Clearly the truth potion was working more than he thought. |
Tony noticed and smiled slowly. Well, well. He wasn't immune after all.
"Great. So he has to have some source of power. Any idea if it could be powered externally? Like you got a boost with the glowy stick of doom?" |
"Unlikely," Loki replied. After a moment, he also ground out, "but not impossible."
"Not impossible. With us, that means probably." Tony rolled his eyes. "Who do you know could power something like that?"
"That list is longer than you have time for," Loki replied. "Any of Asgard would have the strength."
"Is the spell of Asgardian origin?" Because that was an important question. He didn't want to start checking for other possibly harmless (mostly harmless, hopefully harmless) Asgardians if they weren't behind it.
"Likely not," Loki replied. Very few spells were of Asgardian origin, since Asgard wasn't the foremost realm when it came to magic. Most spells originated with the elves, Loki knew.
"Do you know where the spell could have come from? Or likely came from?"
"I could hazard a guess," Loki replied, smirking. He knew exactly how unhelpful he was being.
Tony growled. He was quickly running out of patience, even if the Veritaserum was working.
"What would be your top three guesses, then?" Lessa spoke up, her voice quiet. She was still kind of fascinated and focusing mainly on Loki. |
"Amora," Loki replied. "Vali, perhaps." He was quiet for a moment. "Sigyn."
Lessa nodded. "Do you know what other magic he might know, based on those suggestions?" she asked. "And what would you guess he knows?"
"I know not what he might have been taught," Loki replied. "Individuals show different aptitudes for sorcery."
Lessa knew that was true so she nodded. "Anything else we need to ask?" She looked between Tony and Lavender.
"Not at the moment," Lavender said. She glanced at Tony.
Tony shook his head, starting to usher them out of the room. Lessa thought about protesting for a few moments before she shrugged. She could come back later.
Lavender left when Tony ushered them out.
"Well, that was informative," she commented dryly. Loki watched them go, and then turned his attention away again. |
"Hey, we got something," Tony said with a shrug. It was more than he'd expected, honestly. "Now to go find Thor and see if there's anyone else around who's not supposed to be."
