An ancient artifact is found that has an unknown code written on it. SHIELD has spent months trying to figure it out but hasn't had any luck. They decide to recruit two hackers to figure it out, but are having a hard time convincing these hackers to help them. What happens when SHIELD has the Avengers ask them will they refuse and what could be so important about this artifact ?

Short Background:Heather has been a hacker since she was 16 and has a Bachelor degree in Computer Science. She works as a consultant and does mainly freelance hacking job. Lately, she's been asked to work for SHEILD and is wary. She doesn't take any job that she doesn't have any information on.

Short Background: Alex grew up in a family of professional hackers. They taught her the basics of everything, but kept her attention on learning how to hack. She didn't want to join their work, until her later years, when she realized there was nothing she could do, other then hacking. And so, it became her life. She's been hacking most of her life, but mainly since she was 21, when she got her first job, rather then to just play around with it. Recently, S.H.I.E.L.D. has been attempting to get her to help them, but she's not really wanting to, seeing as she doesn't know what it's for. It could be something horrible, that they want to keep secret.

Heather finished her last project for the week and sent it off in a secured email. She had been working for the last 15 hours on it and was ready for bed. She hoped SHIELD didn't send anyone over to talk to her today, since technically this was her day off. She took a much needed shower and changed into a nice shirt and pants after listening to a message on her answering machine. " Why do these jerks keep bugging me? I said no and I'll keep saying it" She thought and went to make some coffee. Heather hoped she could stay awake long enough to meet with the person she was meeting with, and having an odd feeling she wouldn't be able to say no.

Bruce Banner made his way down the busy sidewalk. It was nice to be a part of society again,knowing it was better to be around those that trusted him. He had been doing consult work for SHIELD and had offered to help them with this current project. He had been in India, but had been contacted by SHIELD to help escort an artifact that had been found close to 3 months ago and SHIELD's hackers hadn't been able to crack the code. Bruce looked at the address he had been given and was happy that he was almost there . Once he arrived to the building, he pressed the buzzer to Ms. Kelila's apartment and hoped she was home.

Alexus was on her laptop, her Orange and White cat lying beside her. She was hacking into simple websites, and deleting posts made by people, simply to entertain herself. It was funny, when people have no clue what happened.
"Hey, Pounce-A-Lot, you hungry?" She asked, before setting her laptop down on the table, and turning off the TV which was playing in the background. She had a plan, to eat, then go out and do everything she needed to, such as, go shopping. She got up, and Ser Pounce-A-Lot slid into her seat on accident, while looking up at her with sleepy eyes. She started heading into the kitchen, when she heard the doorbell ring.
"Ser, did you call the cops on me? Shame on you, kitty." She teased the cat, before heading to the door, not caring that she was wearing her sleep pants, and tank-top.
She answered the door, and looked up at the man. She recognized him, but couldn't place the name.

Tony sped up as he noticed a kid noticing him. Not that he really had anything against the kid noticing him, but he had a job to do. Go to Heather Greer's house, and convince her to help Shield. He had no doubt it would work, because, he's yet to find somebody that could blatantly turn him down, when he really wanted them to. He noticed the kid running up to him, while his mom watched, with a camera.
Tony sighed, but waved at him as he approached.
"Iron man! Can I have your autograph?" The kid asked, "My name is Peter." Tony smiled at Peter, and nodded.
"Of course you can." He said while picking up the paper he was supposed to sign, and pulling a pen out of his pocket. Once he signed his name, and shook the kid's hand, he told Peter he was in a hurry, and took off.
He had parked his car not to far from here, but thought that he might be safer/more likely to no be noticed by her, if he walked to her house. The exact second he reached the door, he knocked as loud as he could to see if he could surprise her, not knowing she was informed somebody was coming over.

Heather jumped a bit when she heard the knock on the door. " I must have dozed off a little."She thought as she went to look in the spyhole.Heather had to look agian, because she couldn't believe that SHIELD would send Tony Stark to convince her, but they had. " Sorry to keep you waiting. I had to make sure I wasn't hallucinating." Heather said once she opened the door, hoping that this meeting went well.

"Are you Ms. Kelila?"I'm Bruce Banner and SHIELD sent me here to talk to you." He said with a friendly smile. He was being informal and wanted her to feel at ease, not wanting either of them to get stressed during this meeting. He had more control over the other guy, but knew there could be times when he didn't. " May I come in? It isn't safe to talk here in the open." He added.Bruce knew there could be individuals here that would want to know why he was here in the first place.

(Ah, no, your length is fine. ^.^ I just can't usually find a good place to stop.)

Tony chuckled, and "I hear that quite a bit, actually. You'd be surprised." He shot her a charming smile, "I take it, you are Miss Heather Greer?" He asked, but he also knew the chances of it were very high, so he continued. "Do you know why I am here?" He asked, to be sure, then looked around, "Well, before you answer that, would you mind if I came in? You never know who could over hear our conversation."

Alex nodded, "Of course, though I don't know what you could say to convince me, that they couldn't." She stepped aside for him to come in, and felt Ser Pounce-A-Lot rub against her ankles protectively. He knew something was off about the man. "And, you can call me Alexus, or Alex, for short. I don't like being called Miss Kelila, makes me sound old." She smiled jokingly at him, before nodding to her couch, "You can have a seat, if you want."

"Please call me Heather. Sure come on in. I just made some coffee." She said and moved aside to let Tony in. She was a bit intimidated to have the man also known as Iron Man in her house and was willing to give him a chance. The agents that had been here before didn't even ask to come inside, since they just wanted her to leave with them. Heather felt that if she didn't accept SHEILD's offer now, things could get bad quickly.

" Thank you Alex. I think your cat can sense the guy and I can promise that you are safe. " Bruce said and sat down on the couch. "I don't think the agents that were here before told you why SHIELD is asking for your help. An ancient artifact was discovered a few months ago in India and had been taken here to New York for analysis. Their hackers can't figure out the code, so Director Fury chose you and another hacker to help us." Bruce said hoping that Alex would take the job.

Tony nodded at her in thanks, while looking around her house. "Nice place you've got here." He told her, while walking around. "Has everything a person needs to live." He grinned, and gestured towards a seat, "Mind if I sit?" He asked, looking back at her. He did anyway, believing she'd have said yes. She was being friendly, so he figured it was alright. This was good, it seemed she was willing to listen. The Shield agents haven't turned her completely against them, yet. "Tell me," Tony started, "Have you been told why we need you?"

Alexus nodded, "Well, I hadn't actually thought of that. But, I think you're in good control over him, since you are here." She grinned, before he continued talking, she sat down on the chair opposite of him, and Pounce-A-Lot hopped in her lap, so she stroked his fur while listening. She looked up at the mention of 'ancient artifact', that having struck her interest. "So, it wasn't some secret evil scheme of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s, then?" She asked half-jokingly, when she noticed he was done talking. "Is that all you guys know of it?"

" No I haven't been told. They just kept knocking at my door yesterday trying to convince me to go with them. It wasn't the best of timing for them to do that. I was working on a project that I completed 20 minutes ago and just got it done before the deadline. Would you like some coffee? I need some before I collapse. "Heather said getting 2 cups out. She hoped she had the chance to get some rest soon.

" Nothing evil. It is mostly. It's believed to be of Alien origin but we won't know until we can decode it. SHEILD promises to make sure you stay safe if you choose to help. " Bruce said. " I also know SHEILD will compensate you for any wages lost while you re working for them. Any other questions you have?" He asked hoping he could answer them if she did have any questions for him. He was worried of what might happen to her if she did decline , thinking a nice woman like Alex didn't deserve to be an enemy of SHIELD.

Tony nodded, "Please, black." He leaned his head on his hand, while returning to looking everything over. "I thought not. They tend to be like that." he said picking his head back up, to face her. "Back a few months ago, they found an Ancient Artifact, but Shield couldn't decode it. They think it's alien, but won't be sure until they know what it says. That's where you and another hacker come in, seeing as, you two are appearantly the best hackers they could find." He looked back at her, standing up. "That's all I know. I think that's all everybody knows."

Alex nodded, watching his curly hair move slightly as he talked. It's hard to believe this guy could turn into that guy. She nodded, "Yes, just two, if you don't mind." She continued to stroke Ser, until he finally decided to hop up, and go sniff Bruce, making sure he was okay. "First, who's the other hacker you keep mentioning? And two, no pets allowed, or can I bring Ser Pounce-A-Lot?" She gestured towards the cat, before standing up, and looking into his eyes. "If not, I suppose I'll have to have a friend take care of him." She said with a grin towards him. Now that she knew some details, and since she had nothing better to do, she decided, why not join?

"That sounds interesting." Heather said and poured Tony a cup of coffee and handed it to him. " I have a feeling SHIELD doesn't want a repeat of what happened in Manhattan 6 months ago do they. I'll help SHEILD but I can't promise too much that I'll be able to decode the Artifact. Who is the other hacker that is going to be helping me?" She asked and made a mental list of what she might need to pack.

" I don't mind at all. " Bruce said. " The other hacker SHEILD is recruiting is Heather Greer. I'm not sure if you might know her or not. From what I was told, you can bring your cat with with you. You will have your own quarters and he'll be in there. I'm not sure how long you'll be at the SHIELD offices, but it could be weeks or even months. It all depends on what happens when the Artifact is decoded. " He added. He hoped the Artifact that SHIELD currently had was like how the Tesseract was. Bruce had a feeling if it was an alien artifact , then the Earth could be in danger and would do all he could to help defend it.

Tony smiled, at the fact that he got her to join. She was a nice girl, and he was afraid of what would have happened to her if she said no. He sipped his coffee, before nodding. "I know there's a chance, I've actually been thinking about that. But, you seem to be capable of decoding it, if anyone could... From how Shield talks about you two, anyway." Tony grinned, and drank from the cup again, before putting his hand out to shake her hand. "It's going to be a pleasure working with you, Miss Greer. The other Hacker goes by the name of Alexus Kelila. Do you have any more questions?"

Alexus nodded, "I've heard a little bit about her." She smiled, "She's impressive, from what I hear." Alex patted her leg, to have Ser come to her. "Good. Life without Ser can get boring, indeed." She said, referring to how much time she spends alone, her cat the only one keeping her company as she hacks into websites to mess with people. She extended her hand, to shake hands. "I cannot promise I can decode it, if it's alien. But, what I can promise you, is that I can and will try my hardest, to decode this Artifact."

Heather shook Tony's hand and smiled. " I'm really looking forward to working with you too Mr.Stark. How long do you think I might be working for SHEILD?"She asked. She had heard of Alexus Kelila and was impressed with what she did know of the other hacker. Heather hoped that nothing bad happened while she was working and that the Artifact was just something that held information that would help humanity as a whole.

" I'm glad you have some knowledge about Ms. Greer. I'll give you time to pack your things. I'll just let SHIELD know that you agreed to help us. It's going to be great working with you Alex. " Bruce said and held out his hand. He hoped Tony was having as easy time but figured his friend wouldn't have any difficuly with the other hacker. Bruce had an odd feeling about all this and hired his fears about the artifact wouldn't prove to be true.

((I just realized how many errors I had with that last post.. I was really tired. xD))

Tony shrugged his shoulders, after shaking her hand. He rubbed the back of his head, before picking his cup back up. "Not really. Could take a few weeks, could take a few months. It all depends on how long it takes to decode the artifact, really. But Shield will give you shelter, and anything you need as long as you're working on it." He smiled at her, before drinking the coffee again. "I really do hope you enjoy your stay, here at Shield." He grinned, and finished the drink. "I'll give you time to pack up everything, I'll tell them you said yes."

Alex smiled widely at him, whilst shaking his hand. "Thank you, it's going to be a pleasure working with you, and S.H.I.E.L.D., also." She said, and kneeled down to pick up Pounce-A-Lot. He walked straight into her arms, and she stood back up.
"I'll go pack now, I won't take to long." She grinned at him, before starting to walk off and get Ser's Cat Carrier.

Heather nodded and went to pack her things. She first packed her laptop and the flash drives she stored her coded. She then got the suitcase out if her closet and packed enough clothes that she felt would last her a while. Heather had a bad habit of overpacking for trips, but had a feeling that this time might be the only time she didn't do that. She carefully went down the stairs and saw Tony oh the phone, and would wait till he was done.

Bruce made the phone call and told Fury that Alex had agreed to work with them. He then called for a SHEILD vehicle to pick them up and take them to headquarters. Bruce knew this was the safest route, since there was no telling if any of SHEILD's enemies knew about the artifact. He hoped they didn't , since there was no telling what power this artifact possessed, if it possessed any power in the first place.

Tony grinned, and pulled out his phone to call Fury, but didn't get an answer, because Bruce had been calling him. Tony then called another member of SHIELD he knew would be of use, if they knew. He called Clint Barton, and told him of the happy news, and Clint said he would inform Fury as soon as he could. They continued a little bit of a conversation, just so Tony wouldn't have nothing to do while he waited, until he noticed Heather there. He said a quick bye to Hawkeye, and turned to her. "You ready?" He sent a grin towards her.

Alexus easily got Ser to get in his crate, and he laid down, preparing himself for the insecure feeling of being in a floating cage. Alex packed everything she thought she would need, a couple of sleep clothes, and a few day clothes, toothbrush, and such. Computer necessities, with her laptop out there with Bruce. She looked in the mirror, and noticed she was wearing her fuzzy sleep pants, and tanktop along with it. The blush on her face appeared brightly, and she quickly changed into a normal pair of fitting black jeans, and a green short sleeved shirt, and of course slipping on her laceless black shoes, before picking everything up, and heading out to see Bruce again.

" Yep, I'm ready. I have everything I'll need to decode something.Though I wonder if I might have to make a new program, but I'm up to any challenge." Heather said with a smile. She was looking forward to a vacation of sorts, but had a feeling that it would be a lot of work.

Bruce got off the phone and gave a smile. " Ready to go? A car should be here soon to pick us up." He said hearing footsteps behind him. He was looking forward to getting Alex someplace safer than here, and knew that SHIELD headquarters were pretty secure.

Tony smiled at her, and gestured towards her suitcase. "Want me to carry that?" He asked, being the gentleman he felt he should be. He didn't have to get a car to take them, however. His car was nearby. "My car's near here, so we have a way there. Just, we need to be careful while getting to it. As I said before, we don't know who's out there, that could be listening in."

Alexus grinned, and nodded, "Yep, ready." She said, while picking her Laptop and charger off of the Couch and pack it, too, in her suitcase before zipping it up again. "Not to be rude or anything, I'm just curious. Why'd SHIELD send the Avengers? I would have figured they wouldn't give up that easily."

" I would appreciate it. Thank you so much Mr. Stark." Heather said with a smile. She would wait to ask more questions till they got into his car, since she didn't want to have anyone hear about this assignment. This was Heather's first major job with a government agency and she didn't want it to be her last one."

"Mostly it was Director Fury's idea. He figured both you and Miss Greer would respond better to an Avenger than a regualr SHIELD agent." Bruce said with a smile." Can I help you with your bags?" He offered, wanting to be of help to Alex and he knew it would much easier for her to get to the car safely when it arrived.

Tony nodded, grin still on his face, as he reached for her suitcase. "It's no problem." He looked around, one last time at her place, and then to the door. "Ready to go, Miss Greer?" He asked, holding the suitcase over his shoulder, and opened the door, waiting for her to exit out before him.

Alexus nodded, "Please, and thank you." She smiled at him, before handing over one of two of her bags. She held onto Ser, and he silently freaked out. First, he's in a floating cage, and then his mistress decides to leave and take him with her with the unnatural man. "Also, just wanting to be prepared for the first time I meet him.. Is Nick Fury as harsh as everybody says he is?"

" Defiantly ready to go. " Heather said and walked out and locked the door once Tony had exited. She was going to miss this house , since she rarely went on trips for an unknown amount of time. " Did you meet Peter Yates? He's a really big fan of Iron Man. " She asked. Heather had known Peter's parents in high school and had a feeling that kid was going to do great things in the future.

" He is , but he does have a good head on his shoulders. He's a good judge on people and what abilities they do have. Tony Stark likes to irritate Director Fury, but Tony likes to do that to everybody. " Bruce said with a grin. He had been doing some consult work for Stark Industries and was glad Tony had been the one to see past the things that had happened when he first became the Green Guy.

Tony looked at her curiously. "Peter Yates? It seems like I should remember hearing that name.. But, I honestly have no clue." He told her, and he walked with her down the sidewalk, pretending this was an average conversation of friends, just walking down the road, rather then SHIELD recruiting hackers, and him taking one to the Base. More it seemed normal, the less chance people would want to listen in.
"Although, if I do remember right, I did meet a kid named Peter today. I don't know if his last name was Yates, however. Why?" He asked her, to see if there was any reason for asking, or if she was just making conversation.

Alexus smiled, she'd heard stories of Tony, and had seen him on TV. He seemed like he would be a very entertaining person to have a conversation with, and he always did the right thing. Such as Bruce just said.
She looked at Bruce, and noticed that he was appreciating something, and figured it was Tony, since that was what he'd just been talking about. She'd also heard stories of the two geniuses, and how they became friends after everything that happened with Loki. She smiled at that fact, and studied Bruce's face, thinking it was nice that he'd gotten out of the rut he'd been in, and into the busy world. He's made quite the improvement from before.
"When should the car get here, you think?" She asked, out of curiosity.

" Just asking. He made it his ultimate goal to meet you before his next birthday. Now he'll probably make a new goal. His parents homeschool him and I teach him about computers. You can" Heather said. She would miss seeing her neighbors and knew they would keep an eye on her house while she was away.

" Agent Deveroux said he'll be here in less than 15 minutes. " Bruce said with a smile. The agent was about Alexus' age but had been a bit intimidated by him at first. Bruce had helped Deveroux relax and knew that this was a big deal to him. " Looks like he's here" Bruce said 10 minutes later.

Tony frowned a little. He hadn't thought about that, he kind of figured she was a loner. "I'm sorry you have to leave this place. If you weren't in danger, I'd let you stay, but working for us.. You're going to be." He said quietly, as to not let people hear. He really did feel bad. Her life was being left behind to work for them. Somebody had to feel bad about it.

Alex nodded, and smiled before making sure she had the cat carrier, and the bag she was carrying. She looked over at Bruce, "Alright then, time to get this show on the road." She said, walking towards the door. She locked it, and stepped out without closing it, because she was waiting for Bruce to exit.
