Dean grinned. "Bobby's got a full kitchen," he said speculatively.
Kyra stiffened a bit and shrugged. "I went to Heaven, spent a while running around, didn't get killed by Raphael, came back down." |
"Take it up with Kyra," Runa replied, grinning. "I don't bake well. It always burns or otherwise doesn't work right."
Sam glanced at her, but didn't push. "Well, if you decide that you want someone to just sit and listen, let me know," he said. |
"Once they get back I will." Dean grinned. "You like pie?"
Kyra blinked before she nodded. "I will. Thanks." She was quiet for a moment. "Why, though?" |
"Pie's okay," Runa said. "Not really for or against it." She grinned. "I will fight you for chocolate pie, though. And I can pretty safely assume that I will win."
"Why what?" Sam asked. |
"Chocolate pie is not proper pie," Dean said with a disgusted snort. "It's chocolate pudding inside a pie crust."
"Why would you offer? You kind of have your own things to deal with." Kyra looked at him, her eyes bright. |
"That's the point," Runa said. "It's pudding in a crust." She looked at him. "So is pumpkin pie, too."
Sam shrugged a bit. "Everyone needs someone to talk to, you know?" he said. "Hunters more than others, sometimes." |
"Yeah, but at least you can't find pumpkin in pudding cups." Dean shook his head. "And pumpkin pie is delicious."
"Yeah, I guess." Kyra looked away and shrugged, getting out when he parked the car. "Well, I'll keep that in mind. For now, food." |
"False, I've found pumpkin pudding before," Runa said, grinning. "Northeast regional specialty, but still."
"Food, good plan," Sam said, nodding. "Let's go." |
Dean rolled his eyes. "It doesn't count, I've never seen it before," he said. "So I'll enjoy my pumpkin pie and you enjoy your chocolate pudding in a crust."
Kyra picked a table and put her back to the wall. And she ordered enough food for her and Sam to share when the waitress came over. She was hungry, after all. And, unlike Runa, she had no problem with red meat. |
"I will find you pumpkin pudding one of these days," Runa said, grinning. "I lived in the northeast when I was a kid, I know how to find this kind of thing."
Sam let Kyra order the food. While he preferred healthy things, he didn't mind not having it this once. Besides, Kyra looked like she needed the comfort food. |
"Has to be the right time of year," Dean said with a brief grin. "Which it's not, at the moment."
"So I saw someone up there who said he knew you. Name was Ash, maybe? His Heaven is a bar called the Roadhouse?" Kyra raised an eyebrow at Sam as she sucked down half her soda in one go. |
"I will find this pudding for you, mark my words," Runa said, grinning a bit. "Mmm, and a pumpkin cheesecake, that's good stuff. I love cheesecake."
Sam grinned. "Yeah, Ash," he said. "I knew him. What's he been up to?" |
"It's weird," Dean grumbled. "And it's not pie. Cake isn't tasty anyway."
"Helping me out a bit," Kyra said with a shrug. "Apparently he doesn't much like Raphael. Other than that, he visits people. A lot of other people. He's probably the most Heaven-savvy human ever." |
"Cheesecake isn't real cake," Runa said. "It's cheesecake. Like a cross between pudding and pie and it's rich as hell and delicious."
"Yeah, he struck us that way when we saw him," Sam said, nodding. "He had some sort of surveillance set up to keep tabs on the angels." Sam was quiet for a moment. "Did you see a pair of women at the Roadhouse, a mom and her daughter? Names would have been Ellen and Jo?" |
"Huh. I'll have to try some again. Haven't touched it for years." Dean shrugged. "I'll add it to my list."
Kyra was quiet for a moment as she munched on a French fry. "Not in his particular Heaven, no," she said. "I heard them mentioned, more than once, but I did not see them personally. I can find out for you." |
Runa grinned and flopped back on the bed with a moan. "God, a real bed, this is amazing."
"Don't worry about it," Sam said, waving a hand. It was enough for him that they actually made it to heaven; with everything that had been going on, he hadn't been sure. |
Dean snickered. "Yeah, even these crappy ones are nice sometimes," he agreed. Though he did get an eyeful, and he didn't mind.
Kyra nodded and all but pounced on the food when it arrived. Hopefully Sam would just wait with any other questions for a few minutes. |
"No kidding," Runa said. She was quiet for a moment. "Though, I will admit, there was one good thing I was not expecting in Hell."
Sam ate his dinner slower, though he did keep an eye on Kyra. |
"What was that?" Dean looked over at her, a little startled. He wasn't used to the idea of good things coming out of Hell.
Kyra slowed down once she was feeling better, and then leaned back in her seat and pushed her plate off to the side. "Thanks," she said quietly to Sam. "I needed that." |
"No matter what else happened while I was there," Runa said, "I did not have to deal with my father. Little bit of silver lining there."
"No problem," Sam said. "I totally get it." He grinned a little. "Fell a bit better now?" |
"Ah. I can imagine that would be a bit of a relief." Dean grinned briefly.
"Yes." Kyra stretched a bit and relaxed. "I'll feel even better in a few days after the last bits of Heaven are off me." |
"It really kind of is," Runa said. "Though I did have to... educate a few idiots who thought I was less for only being half. And I did so with extreme prejudice."
Sam grinned. "You'll feel more normal in a few days," he said. |
"Good," Dean said feelingly. The fewer demons, the better, as far as he was concerned.
"Yeah." Kyra shook herself a bit. "Well, I'm ready to head back whenever." |
Runa rolled over so she was propped up on her stomach and looked at him.
"You know, that's not reassuring," she said. "Your emphatic, rabidly violent response to demons. That could make someone like me real wary." Sam nodded, put down some cash for their bill, and got up. "Let's head back, then," he said. "I'm sure you're tired." |
"You're not a demon though, not really," Dean said with a shrug. "So it shouldn't make you wary."
Kyra nodded and headed over to the counter first. "Pie," she reminded Sam. "Pie sounds good, actually." |
