"That's what I thought," Gabriel replied. He put his arms around her as she leaned against him.
Kyra just stayed there for a little bit longer.
"You're keeping the water warm," she half-accused. |
"Would you rather I didn't?" Gabriel asked, cracking a grin.
"It would motivate me to get out of the shower," Kyra said mildly.
"Well darn, there goes my plan of luring you out with the promise of a massage," Gabriel teased.
Kyra snorted. "Well, at least you learned how to bribe me properly," she said, reaching over to turn off the water.
"I should hope so," Gabriel said, stepping out of the shower and handing her a towel. "Come on, let's go get comfortable."
Kyra dried off a bit and wrapped herself in the towel before following him out to the bedroom.
"So how are you more okay with this than I am?" |
"I'm angry enough that I want to raze a city to the ground," Gabriel replied frankly. "I want to wage war on Hell and bring Sam back. But that won't help things right now, and you need someone to hold on to for a while."
"In other words, you're just as pissed as I am, just handling it better." Kyra shook her head a bit and sat on the bed.
"You learn to handle things with older brothers like mine," Gabriel said.
Kyra snorted. "I suppose so," she agreed. "One downside to the whole extended family."
"No kidding," Gabriel said. Once he put on enough clothes to be considered decent, he flopped back into the bed. "For now, all we can do is make sure things up here are kept under control."
Kyra nodded, settling in with him quietly. Hopefully she'd be able to relax.
It wasn't until several days later that they got any word about what was going on in Hell. Runa appeared outside the motel in the middle of the night, looking a bit bruised and battered and more than a little exhausted.
Cas was the first to sense her and go greet her. He stopped next to her, looking down at her.
"You're back. I'm glad." |
"Just for a little while," Runa muttered, getting to her feet. She wobbled a bit. "Just checking in." She stumbled slightly, and caught herself. Sulfur dust drifted from the creases in her clothing as she moved.
Cas caught her, wrapping his arms around her.
"You have time to come in and sleep for a bit," he said firmly. |
"Only a few hours," Runa said, leaning on him a bit. "Can't be gone too long, I need to be there to watch Sam's back."
"He'll manage a few hours," Cas said, pulling her inside.
Dean stirred when he heard them, opening his eyes and looking at them. "Runa. You're back!" He stood and walked over to them. |
"For now," Runa said, moving a bit closer to Dean. "Gotta go back soon. Just checking in."
Dean grabbed her and pulled her in close, just holding her for several moments.
Runa tensed briefly, and then relaxed into the hold.
"It's rough down there," she murmured. "But Sam's doing okay. He's got kind of an impressive following, now, apparently a lot of them down there want him in charge." |
"Could be worse," Dean muttered, rather relieved. He didn't let go of her, either.
"He sent me back up to check in and see how everything is going up here," Runa added. She rested her forehead on his shoulder with a groan.
