"'Course he does, he's a smart kid," Dean said, smirking and putting some food back on the table. "How long do we want to stay this time?"
"Not long, just a couple days," Runa said. She was quiet for a moment. "Then I have to check back in in Hell, make sure nothing needs Sam's attention."
Dean nodded. He was getting better at dealing with this. "Right. A few days. That's not bad. Bobby shouldn't even be threatening to shoot anyone by then."
"And by then, Jesse should be good to go," Runa said, nodding. She grinned a bit. "Kid's good. Knows Latin like he should, has most of the basic tricks down cold, and we managed to get him to the point that he stopped vomiting every time he hears an exorcism."
"So he's coming right along." Dean nodded. "Good."
Runa nodded and relaxed into her seat a bit. It felt good to have something to eat and somewhere safe to rest, even after just training.
Dean made sure everything was in order before he started setting up where everyone would sleep. Since that was going to be a bit of a squeeze with a few more people than normal.
Runa didn't mind piling in with Dean and Cas, and she noticed that Sam, Gabriel, and Kyra all kind of piled together, as well. It was something they were kind of used to by now.
Kyra settled down after dinner with her two, relaxing. A few days at Bobby's would be a good thing, especially since she knew they still had more things to take care of.
The next day, Runa was back out with Jesse.
"So, how much messing with reality have you done before?" she asked him as she scoped out a good place for training. |
Jesse shrugged. "Turned a few people into action figures," he said. "But that's about it, I try not to mess with things too much."
Runa grinned.
"You're missing out on all the perks," she said. "I learned how to pop locks, open holes in things, some telekinesis... I tried walking through walls once. It didn't quite work." |
"Really?" Jesse blinked. None of those types of things had really occurred to him. "Huh. That's kinda cool, actually."
"We get the best perks," Runa said. "Though the action figure thing is kind of cool. But I managed to do that whole Darth Vader Force-choke on someone once, that was cool too."
"Awesome." Jesse grinned. "So what all can they do? The angels? I haven't really had a chance to find out, not that I've wanted to before now."
"I'm not entirely sure what all they can do, to be honest," Runa admitted. "I never bothered asking since we started traveling with Cas and Gabriel, and it was kind of a touchy thing with Kyra. But from what I can tell, they can't screw with reality like we can. I'm not sure what they can do instead, we might actually have to ask."
"Later," Jesse said. "I was just curious. This is much more fun." He grinned.
"So. Popping locks. Let's start with that." |
"Good plan," Runa said, grinning. "Come on, let's go find somewhere with a door that can lock that you can practice on."
Jesse nodded and let her lead the way. He was kind of excited for practice, now.
Runa managed to find an old, abandoned warehouse not too far away that they could practice a few different tricks on. She was going to make sure he knew at least a few useful skills, even though there was no way she was going to pass on all of her training to him. There were a lot of things she knew that she wouldn't wish on anyone.
Jesse took to the training surprisingly well, and he had fun while he was at it. It was training, but it was also kind of like a game, and he was having fun with his powers for the first time in a while.
Runa could see that he was having fun. That was good, it meant he wasn't afraid of his own powers.
"So how did the action figure thing happen?" she asked during a break in training. "And how did you do it?" |
"Well, he was going to kill me," Jesse said. "Not that I can really blame him now, but I was younger. I just kind of... wanted him to stop and figured an action figure couldn't hurt me." He shrugged.
"He who?" Runa asked. She blinked. "You mean Cas?" She considered that for a moment and then nodded. "Yeah, okay, that makes sense. He was a bit more... zealous back when he first met Sam and Dean, I've heard."
"That's one way to put it," Jesse said with a snort. "Yeah, he wasn't as nice then. I did undo it on my way out, though."
