"Interesting," Sherlock said. "I'll have to let him know that his girlfriend is a gossip."
"Only with me," Elena said with a grin. "We gossip to each other all the time." She watched to see how much that would eat at him.
Sherlock's eyes narrowed, but he didn't immediately offer a protest or an insult. He had no idea if normal women gossiped amongst themselves; he just assumed they did.
Elena's grin widened but she left him alone for the time being.
Fortunately that weekend passed without further incident, and Abby and John made plans for a nice night out the following weekend. |
Abby was looking forward to the evening out. They were going out to see a play, and then dinner afterwards, which was much nicer than the dates they'd been on before.
John picked her up a little early, for once. Mainly because Sherlock wasn't in the flat to delay him.
"Hey," he greeted, grinning at her. "Ready to go?" |
"Definitely ready," Abby said, grabbing her bag. "You're a bit early. Sherlock on a case or something?"
"No, he's just out of the flat," John said with a grin. "I don't know what he's out doing." And clearly John didn't much care.
"I'm sure you'll either get a text or a news report," Abby teased. "Let's go, we don't want to be late."
John nodded and let her lock up before he got a cab for them. It was a little ways to the theater, after all.
Abby slid into the cab with him, and then leaned against him a bit.
"I'm glad we were able to have this date," she said. "No cases or anything getting in the way." |
"Me too." John smiled. "It's nice to do something, y'know, a little nicer like this."
"It is," Abby agreed. She slipped her arm through his. "And if we're lucky, our date won't get interrupted by anything."
"That would be a nice minor miracle," John agreed with a little laugh, shaking his head a bit. He patted her arm as the cabbie stopped in front of the theater to let them out, paying the cabbie and opening the door for her.
Abby stepped out of the cab and smiled at John.
"Thanks," she said. Once he paid for the cab, she took his hand gently. "Shall we?" |
John nodded with a little grin, walking with her into the theater and handing over their tickets. He settled into his seat with a bit of a grin.
Abby settled in next to him, leaning against him just a bit. Time to just enjoy their date.
After the show was over, John let her pick where she wanted to go for dinner. Because he thought that was a nice end to their date.
Although it didn't have to be the end of the date, really. |
Abby picked a nice little place that they'd been to before. She figured it would be a good way to end the evening, although the thought did cross her mind that maybe dinner didn't have to mark the end of the night.
John settled in there easily, relaxed. "That was fun," he said with a brief grin. "More fun than I expected, actually."
"It was," Abby agreed, smiling. "I like it, it was a good show. And your phone didn't go off once."
"I did have it turned off for the show," John admitted. "But I also don't have any texts, so whatever Sherlock is up to, it's keeping him busy."
"Is that good or bad?" Abby teased gently. "If he's so busy he's forgetting to bother you..."
John actually paused. "Well, it could go either way, but for tonight I'm calling it a good thing." He grinned.
"Then I will too," Abby said. Leaning over, she gave him a small kiss.
