"You're the time mage, not me," Leana teased lightly before hearing a knock on the door.
Andrea laughed a little and was happy to see Steve at the door. " Me and Leana have something to ask you before we go to dinner. " She said.
"Oh?" Steve asked, wondering what the two girls could want to ask him.
" I was able to talk to Professor Xavier today and offered to help me with my powers. Leana and I want to know if you would like to come with us. " Andrea asked hoping Steve would.
"Professor Xavier...the leader of the X-men?" Steve asked. Either way, he would be thrilled to escort them to the Xavier mansion.
Andrea nodded. " He said it would be best to learn how to use the abilities that I have as soon as possible, since I am older when I gained my powers. I still can help with the artifact while I'm there." She said. Andrea hoped she would also have the chance to meet the famous Pepper Potts about the traslation program and would continue to get ready in case that happened.
"Just out of curiosity, what would happen if you didn't learn how to control your powers?" Steve asked. He was still going to take them and hopefully have the famous Charles "Professor X" Xavier help with his god-daughter but that didn't mean he wasn't curious all the same. He had a feeling that something else good had happened but Andrea and Leana hadn't said anything about it.
" I probably would hurt myself somehow. I think I overused my techno path abilities and as a result , feeling very tired. " Andrea said. She wanted to tell Steve about her translation program and that she finally found someone who liked it.
"Anthony and I were really worried when she almost fainted," Leana admitted.
Andrea nodded. " I know I was supposed to have some combat training tonight with Agent Romanov , but after dinner I'll head right to bed. " She promised and hoped she would make it that long.
"Alright. And I'll let Natasha know what's going on, though next time you meet up with her, she'll be going on you twice as hard...if you can handle it that is," Steve replied. "Now come on, we should get to dinner, before you pass out again that is."
" I'll probably need that. " Andrea said. She knew a few things about marital arts but hadn't always wanted to be a SHIELD agent. As a teenager, all she had wanted was to go to school and be a normal teenager. Andrea knew now that she needed to learn the things her parents had tried to teach her.
Steve nodded. "So I've heard," he said as he remembered what Peggy told him about Andrea and her childhood...what it consisted of anyways. Along with something else...something that he had to promise not to tell Andrea unless she had asked.
" I regret being so difficult as a teenager but it was hard seeing other people my age doing things that I wanted to be doing. And going to a normal High School was one of those things. " Andrea said feeling sad. She wished she would had the chance to apologize to her parents before they had died.
---- Peggy knew telling Steve had been the right thing to do. She knew the last 23 years had been difficult and often wondered about the granddaughter she had only known for a few hours. Peggy wiped her eyes and hoped that Andrea would find her younger sister. |
Steve chuckled lightly as they made their way to the cafeteria. "I'm glad that somethings haven't changed, teenagers being one of them," he said as he got himself under control. "Just because you wanted to be normal doesn't mean your parents hold it against you Andrea. You just wanted to fit in, trust me, I should know," he added with a light grin.
Andrea lightly smiled back. She was glad for those words since she had felt that guilt for so long. Andrea was glad that they were in the cafeteria and ordered a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. She didn't want to eat too much before going to bed since doing so caused her to dream vividly. And that was something Andrea didn't like.
Steve paid for both of their meals and quickly found a table for them both to sit down at.
Andrea ate quietly and after a little bit gave a smile. " I do have some good news to talk about. " She said with a grin.
"And what is that?" Steve asked curiously.
Andrea told him about her translation program and that Tony had liked it." I've tried for the last couple of years to get companies to even take a look at it, but they said my program would get rid of Human translators, while in reality my program helps them." Andrea explained.
"It does sound like it would help people moreso than hinder them. Though it seems as if the big businesses are worried that anyone could then translate, which would make some translators quit their jobs or be fired. Though I think it would be interesting to see and hear other languages," Steve said. "The super serum the doctor created actually put some languages into my mind, probably because it was to help understand over there during the war."
" Really. That's interesting. I have several that I have preprogrammed in to the framework but it's very easy to add new languages, though I admit some languages are easier than others. " She said with a smile. " I have German, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese and Spanish preprogrammed. And have Oneida, Navajo, and French Canadian added so far. " Andrea added. She still was trying to install Korean and Arabic to her program but needed more power to her computer to do so.
"Sounds interesting," Leana said, quite impressed. "My master...he dropped me off into the cities at the crack of dawn and expected me to reach a certain destination in two weeks or less with only twenty dollars in that nation's currency. It was crazy..." she admitted.
" That does sound crazy but I have a feeling it helped you learn what your master wanted you to learn. " Andrea said and had a feeling that was something her dad would have done when he was alive. She wondered what her life would have been like if her parents had lived but quickly shook those thoughts away.
"He was always like that though. If he though I needed to learn it, he made sure there was an effective way of making sure I knew it," she said. "For better...or for worse," she said as she shuddered lightly. Some of those memories were best left forgotten.
