"Great." Pietro looked around, not seeing any other signs of life. "Wait here for a minute. I'm going to check the area."

Then he was gone, zipping along looking for anyone else. He didn't find other people, but he did find ice monsters and lots and lots of ice and snow. So he headed back to Autumn, shaking his head a bit as he stopped.

"Nothing, okay," Autumn said. "Then we need to see if we can find anyone else around here." She paused and looked at him. "How did you have any traction on the ice?"

"Half the time I was sliding," Pietro admitted. "There are enough places that still have sand and dirt that I was able to use those." He shrugged. "It looked as though most of the shops and buildings are empty."

"That's a bit strange," Autumn said, looking around. "This time of day? Everything should be open and occupied." She gestured for him to join her. "Come on, let's head towards Stark Tower, maybe they have an idea what's going on."

"This time of day, things shouldn't be frozen over," Pietro pointed out. Then he saw movement up ahead. "Oh, and there's ice monsters. By the way."

"You couldn't have mentioned this a bit sooner?" Autumn asked, drawing her sidearm and ducking into an alcove.

"It hadn't become an issue yet." Pietro watched as they approached before he moved around them, tripping them up or just going straight through them. As soon as one fell, it smashed into pieces and didn't get up again.

"Well, that's something," Autumn commented when she saw them shatter. "They don't get back up. That's good to know." She glanced around quickly. "We have to get out of here, this is a terrible position. We need better cover."

"Your call, Agent." Pietro moved back in front of her for a few moments, surveying the area, before he took off again to take down a few more.

"See if you can get us a path," Autumn said. "Towards the Tower."

Pietro nodded and cleared out the last few monsters.

"This way," he said. "It should be a fairly straight shot from here to the Tower, depending on how much resistance we meet."

"Let's go, then," Autumn said. "Keep an eye out, and be careful on the ice. I don't need you going face first into the side of a building because you lost your footing."

Pietro snorted at that but he kept pace with her, staying a bit in front of her and heading towards the tower. It was slow going, but not bad. And they didn't run into monsters often, which was good.

Autumn was getting more and more unnerved at the sheer emptiness of the city.

"This is even weirder than we thought," she commented. "This is New York, there is literally never a time when this city should be this empty."

"Something is very wrong with all of this," Pietro agreed, looking around. "The city doesn't feel right. It's not even the emptiness, something else is wrong with all of this."

"Good, it's not just me, then," Autumn said. "You feel it, too."

"Yes." Pietro kept looking around, wary.

"Good, then I won't have to explain everything." Dr. Strange stepped out of the shadows, his coat whirling around his feet as he looked at the two. "Nice to see you again, Agent."

Autumn jumped a bit. But only a bit.

"Dr. Strange," she greeted. "I'm still not your liaison, where did you leave Julie?"

"She was caught up in the spell as well." Strange looked around, his eyes bright. "What you see are the effects of a rather powerful spell, although sloppily done."

"A spell," Autumn said. "Now it makes a bit more sense." She looked at Strange. "How do we get out of it, then?"

"I have not yet figured that out yet." Strange shook his head a bit. "This is a spell, but I am uncertain yet what the intent of it is. I have not yet come across anyone besides you two, although I did plan to look for others."

"We were heading to Avengers Tower," Autumn said. "To see who we could find. We haven't run across anyone else but you, so far."

Strange nodded, frowning. "Keep going that direction, then. I will meet you there when I have more information." He stepped back again and vanished.

"That... was not at all helpful."

"He's always like that," Autumn said. "Cryptic and all. I honestly think it's partially just to dazzle us mere mortals. I don't know how Julie handles him."

Pietro shook his head a bit and glanced around. It was getting a bit darker, and colder. "We need to find some warmer clothes, if this weather continues."
