"Right. Up we go, then." Alexis stayed at the back of her group, her own sidearm out as she followed them up to the top floor of the tower. Fortunately they were already most of the way there, so it didn't take long.
Tony pushed the door open, in his suit again, and looked around for the source of the magic so he'd know who to start blasting at. |
Spidey was right behind him, a bit more cautious since he wasn't in a suit of armor, but still more than ready to make a nuisance of himself.
Autumn hung back with her group, waiting for the distraction to start so they could get in and fix things. |
Tony noticed a woman in the room, and all it took was her turning to look at them with eyes that glowed green for him to start trying to blast the hell out of her. When she snarled and tried to shove him aside with magic, Logan leapt at her, and Alexis took a few shots while she had the chance.
Strange and Wanda slipped in during the chaos to move around her, towards the back of the room. Alexis shot at the woman again to keep her distracted, trying to give them enough time to get stuff done while Pietro guarded them. |
Spidey tried to get the woman with webs, to at least immobilize her for the others, but she had some sort of shield around her that the webbing bounced off of. So he started with plan B, using webs to slingshot furniture at her.
Autumn also helped guard them, taking shots at the woman whenever she could. It wasn't as often as she'd liked, with everyone moving around so much, but it did help some. |
When Alexis noticed the woman shooting back and sending bolts of energy at people, she made sure no one got hit. Meaning she yanked Clint down in time for a bolt to go whizzing over their heads.
"How much longer, Wanda?" Pietro asked. "A few minutes." Wanda looked a bit strained as she wrestled with the spell. |
Clint and Tony kept firing what they had at the woman, and Spidey was starting to run out of furniture to fling at her. They needed things to be resolved soon, before they ran out of everything.
|
Alexis was out of ammo, and was just about to throw her gun at the woman when everything slowed down. She could still see and hear, but like she was watching a movie at half speed.
Then everything sped up again, light filled the room, accompanied by a brief scream. And then everything went dark and quiet. |
Autumn briefly froze when everything went dark.
"Headcount," she called into the darkness. "Hawkeye," Clint said, groaning and getting up. "I'm still alive," Spidey's voice said. "Almost splattered on the ceiling, though, definitely not fun." "I'll live," Logan growled. |
"We're both fine," Pietro said, keeping Wanda close to him.
"All seems well now," Strange said. "This? This is why I hate magic." Tony groaned quietly as he sat up, the suit powering on again and providing some light. "Sounds like we're all here, then," Alexis said, blinking several times. "Now where the hell is here?" |
"I have no idea," Autumn replied. "Anyone other than Tony have anything that produces light?"
|
Strange produced a little fire that hovered above his fingertips, allowing them all to see.
"Wait a second. This looks like the tower." Tony got up and flipped the faceplate up, looking at the nearest shelving unit. "Sub-sub-basement. Down in storage." |
"The storage basement?" Clint asked. "How'd we get down here from the top floor?" He looked around cautiously, picking up all the details he could in the dim light.
|
"I believe this was where the spell deposited us when it broke," Strange said, looking around as well. "This should be back to normal, now."
"If it was normal, I'd have Jarvis down here." Tony went over to the elevator shaft and pulled the door open, since there was no power yet. "Main power control is on the next level up." |
"Note to self, set the Roombas free down here," Clint muttered, shaking dust off his hands.
Spidey looked up the elevator shaft once it was open. "I can climb that," he said, "no problem, as long as the power doesn't come back on while I'm in there." |
"Great, I can walk you through it once you're up there," Tony said, moving so he could get into the shaft and get up there.
|
"Really?" Spidey asked, a bit surprised. "Alright, awesome." He wasted no time in climbing up and into the shaft, easily scaling the walls with his fingertips and toes.
|
Tony waited until he knew Spidey was up at the next floor to call up directions to him. "You should see a big black panel with a red lever attached to it. Pull the lever."
|
"Red lever, got it," Spidey said, looking around. He found the lever and did as instructed. "Red lever pulled!"
|
"And four, three, two, one."
"There you are, sir." Jarvis sounded a bit surprised. "I'm sorry, sir, I couldn't access the rest of the building, just the personal floors." "No problem, J, everything's back up now. Get us an elevator, would you? I've climbed too many damn stairs today." |
Autumn sighed in relief when the lights came back on and she heard the elevator start up.
"I need a weekend off," she muttered as she holstered her gun and took off her coat. |
"No kidding," Alexis muttered as they all piled into the elevator, stopping to get Spidey before going straight up to the top floors.
"Right, let's see, that's seven drinks. You can't have any, you're too young." Tony grinned at Spidey as he went to go get glasses and alcohol. "That could have been worse," Pietro said quietly as he stuck by his sister and Autumn both. |
"Hey, no fair, you have no idea how old I am," Spidey protested.
Clint just rolled his eyes and went to check on the other Avengers real quick. "It could have been," Wanda agreed. "And nearly was." |
"Yeah, you're like twelve," Tony said, handing over a glass to Autumn.
Alexis followed Clint, checking everyone briefly to make sure they were all fine. "That drink is sounding more and more tempting," she muttered to Clint. "Indeed. Where were you, by the way? We never saw you." Pietro looked down at her. |
"Am not," Spidey said.
"You're like eighteen," Autumn said. "Still not old enough." She glanced at Tony. "I'll take a rain check on the drink, they don't like it when agents try to get drunk on the clock." "The spell had me isolated and bound," Wanda replied. "It took some time to get free." |
Tony shrugged. "Your loss," he said, going to put the alcohol away again after getting his own drink.
Pietro nodded and hugged her again before he looked at Autumn. "Is there anything else that needs to be done now or can we go back to the mansion?" |
