Autumn shook her head.
"No, you can go back," she said. "I'll stop in soon to write up the incident report, but for now you're all set. Take Logan with you." |
Pietro nodded and headed for the elevator with Wanda. Logan followed the two without needing to be told, nodding to Autumn as he passed.
|
Autumn nodded back, and then leaned against the wall and sighed.
"Now to call Julie and Frankie and tell them to come get their assets, and then I can be off the clock for the night," she muttered. |
Alexis had already called Julie and talked to her quickly, hanging up with a sigh.
"One down, tackle the paperwork tomorrow, go home and sleep this off," she muttered, flipping through her phone to find Frank's number. |
"I can call Frankie," Autumn said, pulling out her phone. "You go relax. We're definitely putting off paperwork until tomorrow.'
|
Alexis nodded and went to go double-check that there was no lasting damage to anyone. Just in case. Because people had been known to hide injuries before.
|
Autumn called Frankie quickly to let him know where his spider was, and then sighed again.
"Tonight was entirely too long," she muttered. |
"Yeah, time to go home," Alexis agreed. "Come on. I already told Coulson we're off for the rest of the night."
|
"Thanks," Autumn said. She stretched a little. "Settling in for the night sounds so good right now."
|
"No kidding." Alexis rolled her shoulders and stepped into the elevator. "Alright, head home, take a bath, and then do nothing but watch mindless TV. Sounds like a great plan."
|
"Oh I like that plan," Autumn agreed. "I wish we could just take a weekend off for that."
|
"We'll add it on to our upcoming vacation time," Alexis said with a grin.
She held on to that plan firmly up until Frankie quit one day without warning. Then she blinked a few times, looking at the new assignment sheet Coulson had given her. Each of the liaisons had gotten one. |
Autumn looked down at her assignment sheet, raising an eyebrow.
"So, what, Frankie quits and suddenly we're getting shuffled around?" she asked. "Just because Frankie couldn't handle one asset?" |
Coulson shrugged a bit. "You all are already experienced with handling difficult assets, so this shouldn't be too hard. Besides, you only have a few extras each, I doubt they'll add much to your work load."
Alexis grumbled a bit, but, hey, at least she'd been assigned Spidey. She liked the kid. Now if the Avengers could stay out of trouble, it would make her life so much easier. |
Autumn wasn't pleased, but she nodded.
"Alright," she said, looking over her assignment again. |
Alexis looked over her sheet, made sure she had all the information she needed, and went to finish filling out some forms. As long as no one had a problem, she'd be fine with the paperwork.
The problem was, things rarely went so easily for any of them. |
Autumn was able to keep up with the bigger load for a couple of weeks without much problem. By the third week, though, she was exhausted.
|
Alexis wasn't faring much better. By the fourth week, she thought she'd start shooting people just to keep them from making more paperwork. She was too tired to deal with this anymore; she'd been keeping later hours than most of the other agents, on top of keeping track of all her assets.
So when Coulson finally found someone he approved of for the job, she sent him a memo saying she needed time off or they'd be cleaning Stark off the ceiling. |
Autumn had already sent Coulson a similar note.
I swear to god I won't feel the least bit bad about shooting Logan. Coulson looked at the two memos, rolled his eyes a bit, and sent back replies. Your assets will be temporarily reassigned. You are cleared for three weeks' paid leave. |
I'll bring you back something, Alexis promised him, already scrambling to get all her stuff and get the hell out of the building. She had no idea where she was going to go, just so long as it wasn't New York.
|
Autumn didn't even bother replying, she just put her pen down and left her desk, heading home to go pack a bag. She needed out of the city for a while.
|
Alexis headed back to her apartment as well, going to pack up everything she'd need in a bag, and then texting Autumn.
You got vacation time too? Where are you going to go? |
Out of the city. Autumn was on her computer making travel plans already. You?
|
Anywhere not New York. Alexis booted up her computer. Anywhere in particular sound good to you?
|
Booking a flight to Miami as we speak. Join me. Autumn grinned.
