So far they're only debating a movie night, Alexis said. Although I'm a bit suspicious of Stark being the cause of the power outage in my room.
|
Blame Stark. I still have power. Autumn grinned, and then the power in her room went out a second later. Damn it. Okay, it's the storm.
|
Well, at least we've got cell phones. Better hunker in for the night. Alexis grimaced a bit when power went out in Tony's room too. His indignant yelp confirmed her earlier suspicions.
|
Already on it.
"I guess we're going to be in the dark for the rest of the night," she commented to Pietro. "One of these days, I swear, Thor or Ororo is actually going to be there to keep this from happening. Eventually." |
Pietro laughed a bit. "One day," he agreed, perfectly fine in the dark. "Well, we could settle in or find some light source."
Alexis grumbled a bit and looked at Tony. "You. Natural light source. Make magic." "Making magic requires electricity and I can't hotwire anything right now," Tony grumbled. |
"Either option is fine with me," Autumn said, stretching out on the bed. "I don't mind being in the dark."
Clint snickered. "C'mon, Tony, shirt off, give us some light," he joked easily. |
Pietro nodded. "What have you done so far on your little vacation?" He figured that was a safe enough subject for now.
Tony grumbled and hit Clint, although not hard. "I could just take your shirt and light it on fire, then we'd have light." "Oh honestly, boys." Alexis rolled her eyes and used her phone as a light to start rummaging around through drawers. |
"Some shopping," Autumn replied. "Generally just relaxing and doing nothing."
Clint just snickered, but didn't badger Tony about uncovering the Arc again. The whole team knew how touchy he could be about it. |
"Sounds... a bit boring, actually," Pietro said with a shrug. "But I don't enjoy shopping."
Alexis ended up plopping down next to Clint to relax for a while. "So what shall we do?" |
"Not all of us are used to constantly needing to move," Autumn pointed out. "Sometimes doing nothing is nice."
"Hell if I know," Clint said. "Tony's the one who usuall carries an army of toys." |
"Sometimes," Pietro agreed. "Even I get tired sometimes." He shrugged and settled in a bit. "This is nice, for now."
Alexis laughed a bit and shook her head. "You could always see about getting us some power again, unless we just want to go to bed." "Bed? Sleep? Bah! What nonsense is that?" Tony grumbled and pulled out one of the new StarkPhones he'd been meaning to give to someone to field test and tossed it over to them. "There, play with that." |
Autumn made a vague sound of agreement.
"So how is everything back at the mansion?" she asked. "Aside from the temp making Logan all snarly." Clint grinned and snagged the phone out of the air, turning it on. "Awesome," he said. |
Pietro considered that for a few moments.
"Normal," he decided on. "Loud and rowdy, classes are going as normal. No one besides Logan was unduly upset, not for long anyway." He shrugged. Alexis snorted and peered at the phone. "Oh cool, a new version for me to test out." "I'll get you your own when we get back to New York. Barton, don't drop that one off a building to see if it'll die, I know that was you." |
"Any new arrivals?" Autumn asked curiously. She knew that new ones could arrive at any given moment.
"Just some stress testing," Clint said innocently. "Legitimate test, when it comes to us." |
Pietro shook his head. "Not at the moment, and the professor hasn't said anything."
"That's not stress testing, that's trying to kill it. It's homicide." Tony glared at Clint. |
"Alright," Autumn said. "Then we're about due for another breakout, the last genuine recruit was Marie, and that was a while back. So I'm betting Charles is keeping a mental eye out."
"Come on, it's not like that," Clint said. "Dropping it down a building is totally legitimate when it comes to us. It could happen." |
Pietro nodded. "We shall see what happens," he agreed. He knew that Charles would never stop looking for mutants in need.
"This is why you have communicators in your ear," Tony pointed out. "So the phone doesn't have to survive the drop." |
Clint snorted.
"We're not always on an op when we're up high," he pointed out. "Hell, have you even noticed that Thor sometimes goes out and just flies around in the middle of the night when he can't sleep?" |
"Thor also fried the last four phones I gave him," Tony said, snorting. "Cap killed two on accident, and I know Natasha put a heel through one for no apparent reason. And Hulk has destroyed at least three." He shrugged. "And those are the numbers out of ops."
|
"Cap doesn't count when it comes to phones," Clint said. "The technology of us young whippersnappers is too fragile for his strength."
|
"I'm working on that." Tony huffed and threw himself across the other couch. "But if that one meets the ground at any point in time I'm not giving you another one."
|
"Chill, I won't drop it on purpose," Clint said. "Promise."
|
"You'd better not." Tony grinned and then paused when he noticed Alexis was actually dozing. "Did our bickering just put her to sleep?"
|
Clint blinked and looked over
"I guess so," he said, grinning. "Guess we're not as interesting as we thought." |
"I don't know if I should be insulted or warmed to the deep dark cockles of my Arc," Tony said dryly. But he did fetch a blanket to toss at Clint.
