Pietro snorted. "Yes, I suppose so, some days moreso than others. Days like these they pile up fast, I bet."
"You have no idea," Autumn said, making another face.
Pietro snorted. "Need me to fetch you anything?" he asked, glancing at her.
"I'm good for now, I think," Autumn said. She grinned a bit. "But thanks. I appreciate the offer."
Pietro nodded. "Just let me know," he said, stretching out in his seat again.
"I will," Autumn replied, nodding. She settled back again, and ended up dozing off for a while.
Pietro ended up spending the next few days mostly hanging out in the infirmary with her. Just because.
Autumn was glad for the company, though. It would have been terribly boring without him there, and he proved to be very good company.
Pietro discovered that he really enjoyed spending time with her. And then he made a very frightening discovery: he wanted to spend as much time with her as he could. And that could be bad.
Autumn was coming to the same conclusion herself. She enjoyed Pietro's company very much, and she found that she wanted to spend more and more time with him, and that could be problematic for a SHIELD agent.
Pietro hung around until Hank wanted to check Autumn's leg and see how she was doing. Then he vanished to go find somewhere to think for a little while and try to figure things out.
Wanda found her brother outside on the outdoor track.
"Laps?" she asked. "What are you chewing on that you need to run laps to think about it?" |
"Things," Pietro replied as he zipped past her. He wasn't about to just give her an explanation. Not on this.
"If you force me to guess, Pietro, I'll make you guess which pairs of boxers are safe to wear for the next week," Wanda said as he went by. "Tell me what's going on."
Pietro stopped abruptly and sighed. "I like Autumn a lot more than I should."
That made Wanda raise an eyebrow some.
"How so?" she asked carefully, watching his expressions. |
"I like spending time with her." Pietro shrugged. "I like talking to her." And he wasn't looking too closely at what else he liked.
"That's it?" Wanda asked. "Hate to break it to you, brother, but that's normal human interaction. Most people like spending time with friends."
Pietro frowned, puzzled. "That's it?" he asked, sounding dubious.
"Unless there's more?" Wanda prodded at him. "Come on, Pietro, spill. We all know you like talking to her, she's the only uniform you've ever taken to. We've also all noticed how you haven't left her bedside."
Pietro shrugged. "I dunno. You're better at this kind of thing, Wanda."
"I can't help you if you don't tell me what's going on," Wanda pointed out. "So you like Autumn. How? In what way?"
"I told you. I like spending time with her. I was mad when she got hurt." He shrugged. "I want to make sure she's fine."
"And what else?" Wanda asked gently. She knew there had to be more, or else it wouldn't be eating him up inside.
"I dunno," Pietro said, uncomfortable. He shifted.
