Wanda just raised an eyebrow, pinning him with a look that said 'are you lying to me?'
Pietro shrugged. "It's different than when I'm with you or any of them," he said, waving a vague hand at the house. "I don't know how to describe it."
"What's the first thing you think of when you see her?" Wanda asked, trying to help him sort through things.
Pietro was quiet for a moment. "Making sure she's happy?"
"Okay," Wanda said, nodding encouragingly. "Why?"
Pietro threw up his hands. "I don't know! That's why I'm asking you." He glowered at her.
"Calm down, Pietro," Wanda said. "Every time you see her, your first thought is about her being happy. Why? You like spending time with her, you like talking to her. Why? What does it make you feel?"
"Nice, I guess." Pietro shrugged again. "It's fun when she's happy." He shifted a bit. This was why he liked running; it was much simpler.
"Fun?" Wanda pressed. "Or content? Do you like her happy because it makes things easier around here, or do you like her happy because her being happy makes you happy?"
"The second one," Pietro said after a few moments of thought. That kind of surprised him, but it was true.
"Alright," Wanda said. She grinned a bit. "What would you do if you saw her in trouble?"
"Help her," Pietro said. He snorted. "I've done that already."
"True," Wanda conceded. "But not since you realized you felt this way, I bet."
"No," Pietro agreed. "Nothing's come up yet that I knew about in time to do anything."
"How did you feel when she landed herself in the infirmary?" Wanda asked, curious.
"Worried." Pietro shrugged. "Angry, I guess. Not at her, just that she was stuck in there."
"And what are you angry at?" Wanda prodded. "Or whom?"
Pietro was quiet for a few moments. "Erik, for hurting her." That sounded about right.
Wanda nodded a bit. She figured she knew what was going on with him, now.
"You're falling for her," she said. |
"Nope." Pietro shook his head. "Sorry, no. Can't." Because even he knew how terrible an idea that was.
"Too late, brother dear," Wanda replied, smirking. "You're already falling hard."
Pietro scowled and started running around the track again. It was better than just standing there, at least.
This time, Wanda let him. She'd enlightened him to what he needed to know, her job was done for the moment.
Pietro made faces at her as he passed so he could distract himself for a bit. He needed to not think for a little while. And running was a great way to distract himself.
Wanda grinned and waved a hand, making some hurdles appear on the track in front of him. Hey, he wanted a distraction, she'd give him one.
