"It usually is," Autumn admitted. Then she grinned. "Right up until things like Sentinels happen. Or Logan, he causes me a lot of paperwork. But that's pretty much why I'm here every two weeks."
|
"Ah yes. I can see why he would be troublesome.." Pietro's voice was dry as he watched Logan sidle by, a sandwich in hand.
|
Autumn nodded.
"Yeah," she said. "I have a whole string of paperwork that relates back to him somehow. He either caused the creation of a form, or it has his name on it somewhere." |
Pietro snorted. "That does sound like the kind of trouble he would get into," he agreed.
"I can hear you two," Logan said as he walked out of the room. |
"That's okay," Autumn called back as Logan left. She grinned a bit. "Sometimes I think it amuses him, how much paperwork he causes me. Most times I think he just doesn't care."
|
Wanda grinned. "he'd care if you made him do some of it," she said. "He could be a papershredder for you." Clearly she was unconcerned with the glare Logan shot at her. Pietro just rolled his eyes at his sister, drumming his fingers against his thigh without even thinking about it.
|
Autumn couldn't help but grin at the exchange. Then she looked at the two again.
"So, tell me a little about yourselves?" she asked. "Anything you feel comfortable with." |
"We're twins," Wanda said after a moment. "Grew up gypsy kids."
Pietro shrugged. "We haven't spent much time in a group." |
"Interesting," Autumn said. "I wouldn't have pinned you both as twins." She grinned a bit. "I come from a big Scottish family. I'm the only one from my family working for SHIELD, although my younger brother is in the military. As far as I know, nobody in my family has an active x-gene."
|
They both nodded.
"Well, working for SHIELD sounds like a chore in and of itself," Wanda said with a bit of a grin. |
"It is," Autumn admitted. She grinned a little. "But I'd be bored anywhere else, so I think I made out pretty well for myself."
|
Wanda nodded knowingly and ignored the fact that Pietro got bored and wandered off.
"Well, it's not like you have any shortage of changes to adapt to." |
Autumn nodded.
"Right," she said. "So you and your brother just recently joined up here, then?" |
"Yes. Very recently." Wanda looked uncomfortable for a moment. "We were... trying to find our place."
|
Autumn nodded.
"I understand," she said. "I hope you find it here." |
"Thanks. Me too." Wanda looked over when some of the students came over to chat with Autumn again, and she slipped off to go join her brother again.

About a week later, Clint found himself perched up on a high roof, keeping an eye on a particularly nasty fight. Apparently, Doom had gotten his hands on some Sentinels and had decided to take them on something of a test-run-slash-joyride. So, naturally, they'd had to call in some backup with experience fighting Sentinels.
|
Alexis was keeping an eye on the situation, her voice calm over the comms.
"Cap, watch to your left," she said. "Tony, stop showing off and be remotely helpful, please." She kept an eye on her phone too to see if the X-Men were going to be showing up or not, cause some help would be greatly appreciated. |
"I'm totally being helpful," Tony retorted as he twisted out of the way of a laser beam.
It was barely a minute later that Alexis's phone buzzed with a message. The cavalry has arrived. And then Logan came out of nowhere, snarling and tearing into a Sentinel with his claws. |
Good, awesome, thanks. Alexis texted back quickly and kept her focus on the battle, watching to see how best to integrate the teams and get the job done as quickly as possible.
"Barton, check your 3 o'clock, I see two going after Widow." Pietro was also present, although more because he went than because he'd been invited. He didn't jump into the fight just yet though. |
"On it!" Clint promptly released a set of arrows at the Sentinels, aiming for any exposed joints he could find.
Autumn patched herself through into the comm system. "Agent Lennox in with the X-Men," she said. "Talk to me, what's going on so far?" |
"So far, mostly Sentinels," Alexis replied promptly. "Doom set them loose this time, we're not sure yet what his endgame is. The Avengers have been doing fine but there's quite a few of them, so the sooner we get them taken care of, the better."
She glanced over at Autumn before refocusing her attention on the fight. |
"Doom is not supposed to be our problem," Autumn said. "He is distinctly the Fantastic Four's problem." Shaking her head, she refocused on the fight. "Wolverine, you and Shadowcat try to take out as many Sentinels as you can get your hands on. Colossus, run defense. Otherwise, Agent Sabatello is in charge."
|
Alexis grumbled a bit about Doom but made sure to keep it to herself so as not to distract either team. She did point out when Sentinels started to group up and shot down one herself when it got too close.
But she didn't have eyes in the back of her head, so she didn't see the statue threatening to fall on Autumn. Fortunately, Pietro did, and he moved her out of the way before it could crash to the ground. |
Autumn barely had time to gasp when she was grabbed out of the way. She would have snapped at whoever it was who left their position, but then she saw the statue fall.
"Nice save," she said, getting her feet under her again. "Thanks for that." |
