Crystal shook her head a bit and chuckled.
"So, any plans for this time 'round? Or just going to see what catches your fancy?" Will do, Tony said with a grin. Next time I come by. |
Remy stretched a bit.
"Just relaxin' some," he said. "Helpin' entertain the kids, maybe. Might leave soon, might stay a while, not sure." |
"Ah." Crystal would admit she felt a bit disappointed that he might leave soon. He was entertaining, moreso than most people she knew. Plus she could practice with him, and she was never against practicing. "Any ideas where you'll go?"
|
"Per'aps back t' New Orleans," Remy said. "Home ground, y'know. Always a special place in Gambit's heart for New Orleans. No particular plans, though."
|
"Never been that far south. I've been down to Georgia, for a few months, but not farther than that." Crystal shrugged. "Might be fun to visit sometime."
|
"Maybe Gambit can take you," Remy said. "New Orleans is part of regular wandering, so it would be no trouble."
|
"Maybe," Crystal said after a moment. "We'll see how things go while you're here."
|
Remy nodded and started meander his way back towards the mansion.
|
Crystal headed back as well to go check and see if Paige needed rescuing yet.
|
Paige glanced over when the door opened.
"Done playing?" she teased. |
"Did you hear any explosions?" Crystal teased right back.
Tony snorted a bit at them but vacated his spot so Crystal could sit instead. |
"I was preoccupied with a discussion," Paige said, grinning. "You could have blown up the front yard and I doubt I'd have noticed right away."
|
Crystal snorted. "Nah, that would take too much time," she said with a careless shrug. Absently, she rubbed her fingers against a scar going the length of her left palm.
Tony heard that and raised an eyebrow at Remy with a bit of a grin. "Better than throwing your cards back at you, huh?" |
Remy shrugged.
"Something of the sort can be recalled, yeah," he replied, grinning. Paige just reached over and gently stroked Crystal's palm with her thumb. |
Tony laughed quietly and shook his head. Hey, he was staying for dinner at least, so he figured he may as well settle in.
Crystal quirked a wry grin. Whoops, she'd forgotten she was doing that. But she didn't stop Paige from touching. |
Paige did stop after a few moments. The kitchen was feeling a bit crowded, however, so she got up and walked out into the hall.
|
Crystal ended up staying in the kitchen, but that was half because Darwin had decided he needed help cooking.
Tony was quick to get out of the kitchen once a few more people were in there cooking, retreating to the hallway. Because he didn't cook, he burned things. |
Paige was leaning against the wall, enjoying the quiet. The cartoon had ended, and the children had run off elsewhere to play, so it was genuinely quiet for a little while.
|
Tony ended up settling near her, for lack of anything better to do.
"So I heard you two have been looking for better jobs." |
"Jobs, an apartment, just about everything," Paige replied, nodding a bit. "It's been hard."
|
"I bet. You have any useful skills? Paperwork wrangling, computer knowledge?" Tony looked at her briefly before he returned to watching the action in the kitchen.
|
"Basic computer skills," Paige said. "Same as most of my generation. Microsoft Office and all that, and I can work both Mac and PC. I can paper-push." She glanced at him. "Why?"
|
"Awesome, Pepper's been looking for an assistant. Want a job?" Tony grinned at her.
|
Paige blinked. And blinked again.
"Really?" she asked suspiciously. "Just like that?" |
"Just like that. I mean, you'll have to fill out an application and then the normal hiring paperwork, but yes. Just like that. And don't tell me I'm being nice, this is all to get Peps off my back and shove it in other companies' faces that SI really does have equal opportunity employment." Tony grinned.
