"A few times," Remy admitted. "Charles is surprisingly forgivin' of accidents." Granted, Remy usually only showed off more for the older 'kids', rather than the little ones, and the older ones had an easier time defending against stray firecrackers. He tried to be more careful around the smaller children, but once or twice accidents still happened.
Crystal nodded. Yeah, she got that. "Charles really is too nice for his own good sometimes," she said, nudging him again as they walked. Where, she wasn't sure, but walking somewhere was good.
"Sometimes," Remy agreed walking again. He looked around to get his bearings and grinned. "Come on, this way."
Crystal followed him, looking around as they walked. "How do you get used to this?" she asked, her eyes wide. There were crowds all over, and lights, and noise. It was extremely distracting.
"Practice," Remy said, easily making his way through the crowds. He glanced at Crystal frequently to make sure she was still with him.
Crystal managed not to get lost or left behind, though she almost did once or twice.
"Okay, this is the craziest city ever." |
"That's what makes it fun," Remy said, grinning. "Hungry, chere?"
"Yeah, I could eat," Crystal agreed. "As long as it's decent food, anyway."
"Have you been led astray yet?" Remy asked, grinning, as he headed towards one of his favorite places.
"Not yet," Crystal agreed, shaking her head with an amused grin. "But that doesn't mean you won't try to do something silly like get me to play poker with other people."
"Not right away," Remy allowed, grinning. "Once you can bluff past Gambit, maybe." Opening the door to the little diner, he held it open for her.
"Ha! Like that'll happen." Crystal shook her head and made her way inside, grinning. "Cute place."
"Good food here," Remy said as he followed her in. "Home cooked everything."
"It smells delicious," Crystal agreed, smiling and letting him pick a table. "I don't think I would have any problems coming back here."
"It's always th' first stop," Remy agreed, sitting down at the table. "No matter what."
Crystal grinned and started looking over the menu. "One of the few predictable things in your life?" she couldn't help teasing.
"Yes indeed," Remy replied, grinning. "Can always count on a good bite to eat here."
Crystal snickered and nodded, content to just sit and relax for a bit. They could get to the other stuff later. Food was definitely required first.

Elsewhere, Paige was being dragged over to the tower regularly. Tony didn't seem to mind having her around when he Scienced, and he usually had a bit of vibranium or Iron Man alloy for her to play with while she was there. She was actually having a pretty good time.
Tony was also pleased, because Pepper was good with her new PA, and he got to play. He also encouraged Paige to test things out and experiment on her own, although he was very careful not to mention lab tests or recorded experiments or anything like that. Because it was a damn shame she didn't explore more on her own, but he was determined to fix that.
Paige was cautious about practicing. She still wasn't convinced of how well she would be received if she practiced with her mutation openly, and hadn't quite broken the habit of stopping when someone got close.
Tony was in the habit of leaving tempting bits out for her to play with in the lab, especially since more than half the time he wasn't actually paying attention to anything outside his work.
Paige was playing with a few of those tempting bits. She had two pieces of metal in one hand, and was playing around with the textures. She blinked when she noticed something a bit different about it.
"Well that's new..." she murmured as she looked a bit closer at where the metals had bled onto her skin. |
Tony had just emerged for coffee from making new arrows, and he looked over when he heard that.
"What? What's new? What's going on?" |
"I'm not exactly sure," Paige said, setting down the chunks of metal and examining her hands. "It kind of looks like they... blended." She looked at him. "I'm fairly sure vibranium and your special alloy aren't meant to do that." She held up her hands to show him where the two metals seemed to melt into one another, rather than meeting in a defined boundary like normal.
