"That would be awesome," Laurel said, grinning. "Just let him read the stuff from the trolls and record his reactions."
|
Doreen grinned. "I like this idea, we can pitch it to him later." Still grinning, she leaned back into the couch to wait and relax for a bit, as much as she could relax.
|
Laurel nodded and settled in as well to try to relax a little. Now they were just waiting for the meeting Jarvis had mentioned.
|
After a little while, Jarvis pinged them again.
"Ladies, if you will please go to the elevator, it is almost time for your meeting." |
Laurel jumped slightly, but no more than that.
"Elevator, okay," she said, getting up. "Which way is that?" |
Little lights along the floor turned on, almost the same blue as the Arc, lighting the way to the elevator.
"Okay, that's kind of awesome. Kind of creepy, but kind of awesome." Doreen followed the lighted path. |
"Oh that's so cool," Laurel breathed as she followed the lighted path. "I want one."
|
Jarvis didn't comment, just got them down to the correct floor and the correct room.
Coulson looked at the girls and nodded, pulling two seats out for them. |
Laurel sat down cautiously, looking around. Stark was there, and so was Captain Rodgers, and she wasn't entirely sure if anyone else would show up.
Steve nodded in greeting to them both even as Tony grinned widely. "So, what do you think of my tower?" Tony asked. "Utterly amazed at my brilliance?" |
"Still getting over being overwhelmed," Doreen said.
Coulson cracked a smile. "That'll take a few days, and then you'll be used to him." He nodded at Tony. |
"I'll believe that when it happens," Laurel said. "So... We heard something about establishing ground rules and living arrangements and everything? Because that would be really, really good information to have."
|
Coulson nodded. "I thought so. You won't have to do anything for a few days, but you may continue posting blurbs if you want. I believe the team would prefer private information to be kept private, and things such as the Roombas should not be disclosed."
|
"You must not have any idea how many people would love the Roombas," Laurel commented as she made notes. "Yeah, private information stays private, we figured that."
|
"It's less the fact that people will love them and more the fact that they were an accident," Coulson said dryly.
Tony shrugged. "Hey, they turned out okay. So did Calcifer." "Needless to say, with the amount of things in this tower, many people would not take nearly so well to things as you have already." Coulson looked at the girls. |
"Alright," Laurel said. "No Roombas, no appliances." She paused for a moment. "I remember there being something about someone hanging out in the vents...?"
Tony snorted. "Clint. He's a bird, he's nesting, ignore him," he said. "The Roombas will chase him out eventually." |
"...I think we're going to ignore that until we know what that actually means," Doreen said. "Anything else?"
"I know you both have your phones to take pictures. If you decide you'd like a camera, let me know. I'll see what I can get." Coulson looked at them both for a moment. |
"We'll see," Laurel said. "I want to get a feel for the kinds of pictures we end up trying to take, first." She made a couple more notes. "So. Living arrangements. Home is kind of on the other side of the country."
|
"I just gave you rooms, did you not get that? Do I have to put up a sign there? 'Cause I can do that, give me half an hour," Tony said.
|
"Wait, those were room rooms?" Laurel asked. "I thought those were more along the lines of 'sit in here and catch your breath' rooms, not 'here you get to live in here' rooms."
|
"Nope, those are your rooms now, go have fun decorating or whatever, just don't put holes in any walls without telling me first," Tony said with a grin. "Or Jarvis, you can tell Jarvis."
|
Laurel just sat there for a moment.
"You're giving us rooms," she said. "Just like that. What about our things back home?" |
Tony shrugged. "I can have them packed and shipped here, or you two can go back and borrow a Quinjet and pack that up to move your stuff here. Either way."
Coulson just sighed at Tony, but he didn't disagree. The Avengers did have their own Quinjet, after all. |
"Just like that?" Laurel said, still a bit stunned. She wasn't used to such extreme generosity, not like that.
|
"Well, you are working for us now, essentially, and you probably will be sent on coffee runs and other things that you think aren't in your job description but totally are," Tony said with a shrug.
|
"That's gofering, everybody has to gofer at some point," Laurel said, waving it off. "So long as the coffee machine doesn't try to bite me or something, I'm totally good with fetching coffee. But just having all of our stuff shipped here, just like that? Won't the shipping alone cost an arm and a leg? Possibly a firstborn?"
