Steve blushed a bit but didn't actually protest, instead going back to his workout. He was feeling better now, though.
Laurel did sit back and admire him for a little while, and tossed him a bottle of water when he was done killing the punching bag.
Steve caught the water bottle easily, drinking half of it before setting it on the table and putting everything away again.
"Feeling better?" Laurel asked. "You look like you are."
"Yeah." Steve smiled a bit. "I am." He moved over to sit next to her, his towel around his neck. "How about you? Still doing fine?"
"Yeah," Laurel replied, nodding and turning a bit pink when he sat down next to her. "I have to admit, it's really, really nice living in the tower."
"It's very... fancy," Steve settled on. "There's a lot of technology." Which didn't make him nervous, per se, but he was still adjusting.
"Yes there is," Laurel agreed. She grinned a bit. "Don't tell anyone, but sometimes all the high technology freaks me out. I'm always afraid I'll break something."
Steve nodded. "I know that feeling very well," he said with a little grin. "No matter how many times Tony tells me everything is solid, it still feels... breakable."
"Yeah," Laurel agreed. "Especially the touch screens. Touch screens are inherently sensitive and fragile, I try to be careful with them."
"I try not to use them at all," Steve said with a shrug. "Jarvis is usually happy to help me out, thankfully."
"I like being able to use the giant hologram computer screen," Laurel admitted. "It's a wonderful thing."
"I'm still not used to that," Steve admitted. But he was much, much better than he had been when he first woke up.
"I love it," Laurel said. "Then again, I like cutting edge technology, even when I'm not entirely comfortable using it."
Steve snorted. "This is all so far beyond me I've stopped trying to understand it, mostly," he said.
"It's easier when you grow up around it, yeah," Laurel admitted. "My dad works with computers, so I grew up knowing the basics."
Steve nodded. "I'm sure that does make it easier," he agreed with a little grin. "I'm pretty sure some of these things would even stump Howard."
Laurel blinked.
"Howard...?" Then it occurred to her. "You knew Howard Stark? Really?" |
Steve nodded. "Howard was my friend," he said quietly. "He worked with Dr. Erskin to make me what I am now."
"I see," Laurel said. She was quiet for a moment. "Think he'd be impressed?"
"I don't know," Steve said quietly. "With me? I think so. I've done pretty well, considering. With technology? I have no idea."
"Hate to burst your bubble, but anyone would be impressed with you," Laurel said with a teasing grin. "Basic fact of life, I think. Who wouldn't be impressed with you for some reason?"
"I'm sure there are plenty of people," Steve said with a chuckle, shaking his head. "You could find someone. Actually I'd be surprised if you haven't already."
"I could probably go fishing for trolls on my blog," Laurel said. "I'm sure I could lure some out with just the right kind of post. But there's no fun in that." She paused. "Well. Tony thinks it's fun. But that's Tony."
Steve shook his head. "Tony thinks a lot of things are fun that shouldn't be," he said with a bit of a snort.
