"Meet your new PR team," Coulson said, putting a hand on the girls' shoulders. "Doreen Abernathy and Laurel Ackerley."
|
Natasha delicately raised an eyebrow, and Clint snorted.
"Really, Phil?" Clint asked. "They look like they're barely out of school." |
"They're also in charge of the blog that currently has the most views of all Avengers-related blogs," Coulson said. "They were able to dig up more accurate information than most professional researchers, including the ones Director Fury contracted."
|
That made Clint pause.
"Wait," he said. "That 'Look What We Found' thing?" He looked at the girls and then back at Coulson. "No way." |
Coulson just smiled. "Girls, these are Clint Barton, Natasha Romanov, and Steve Rogers."
Doreen just nodded at all of them, not trusting herself to speak just then. |
Laurel also nodded, still a bit stunned.
"So where did you get all those pictures, anyways?" Clint asked, stepping a bit closer to the girls. Wordlessly, Laurel pointed at Tony. |
"Not all of them," Tony said with a shrug. "Darcy got some too." He grinned. "And a few they got all on their own, and occasionally they ask for pictures from the general populace."
|
Clint grinned.
"Fun stuff," he said. Natasha studied the girls for a moment. She'd seen the blog, and it was actually kind of impressive. "Good work," she said to them. |
"Thanks," Doreen said after a moment, because holy shit this was incredible. And slightly terrifying. But still incredible.
|
"I apologize in advance," Bruce said. "I know we can sometimes be a nightmare when it comes to PR."
"Have you seen their blog?" Tony asked, grinning. "They managed to sway public opinion about the Battle of Manhattan." |
"Not that much," Doreen said.
"On the contrary, based on the ripples from your blog, many people decided that the Battle of Manhattan wasn't as terrible as they'd thought," Coulson said. "I have all the figures in my office if you'd like to look." |
"And this Greenwich thing, you need to get on that," Tony continued. "Call Darcy, I'm sure she's got pictures for you--"
"Oh god the Greenwich thing," Laurel said. "We started on the Greenwich thing, that's what we were researching for, I just got a fresh batch of pictures..." |
"We did put up a quick blurb about it already, we were researching to put up a longer post when we got interrupted." Doreen glanced at Coulson.
|
"We were going to parallel the mythology with what's been going on," Laurel said. "I wanted to do a quick thing on the Norse Crisis Flow Chart, just to lighten the subject some."
"The what-now?" Clint asked, curious. "The Norse Crisis Flow Chart," Laurel said. "Exaggerates the tendency of the mythology to blame Loki for everything, no matter what it is, and make him fix it." |
Doreen snickered. "Yeah, I think you had that part done," she said. "We just needed to finish up a bit of research and we were going to be done. Although I suppose now we might need to add or revise a few things."
|
"So many things," Laurel agreed. "And I need to update my image folders and check and see what I have, because suddenly everything seems relevant again..."
|
"We definitely need to go through what Darcy gave us, see what gems she sent us this time." Doreen grinned briefly.
Coulson just looked amused. |
"Oh there were some gems," Laurel said. "But also some that weren't relevant to the Greenwich thing."
|
"No but they were fun."
"You two can go set up somewhere," Tony said. "You probably need rooms, fifth floor down should be open, I don't think anyone's staying there, not unless Birdbrain got it into his head to build a nest down there." He smirked. |
Clint snorted.
"Quit projecting your weird fantasies on me, Tony," he said, smirking a bit. Laurel blinked. "Wait, you mean just... take a room? Here? Just like that?" she said. |
"Yea, sure, why not? I've got the space. You need a workspace. And trust me, you don't want Coulson to give you one, it'll be the most boring workspace ever." Tony grinned and absently shoved Clint playfully.
|
"We're just being given space in Avengers Tower," Laurel said faintly. "I swear, I'm going to wake up soon with a hangover and this will all have been a dream and I'm going to be so upset."
"It's not a dream," Bruce assured the girls. "I know it can be a bit hard to get used to, at first, but it's real." |
"No, I'm betting on those mushrooms you fed us last night," Doreen said calmly to Laurel. "I told you mushrooms are evil, you should never try to sneak them in soup."
|
"I did no such thing, you're spreading evil, evil lies," Laurel retorted, more habitually than anything. "You're the one who cooked, not me."
Tony practically cackled at the bantering. |
"Yes, but I saw those mushrooms go into the soup, I chewed on one," Doreen said.
Bruce grinned and shook his head. Okay, yea, they'd be fine here. |
