Ivy grinned when she won that time and took her bag off to the side to wait for Kate to finish up with her purchase so they could go raid an accessory store.
Kate made a bit of a face when she lost, but took her bag and met up with Ivy.
"Let's go see what Icing has on sale," she said, grinning. "I think they may be on final-cycle clearance. I could do with a bunch of dollar-earrings." |
Ivy nodded. "Sounds like a good plan." She headed towards the store, starting to browse and keeping her wings close to herself. Icing was always a bit claustrophobic.
Kate also pulled her wings in tight, but that still didn't stop her from knocking a few things down. She was clumsier than average, although not terminally clumsy. Just a little bit.
The store was in disarray anyway; it had clearly been a busy day. But Ivy went through the pickings anyway.
Kate chatted with the manager for a few minutes (the woman was a decent acquaintance and knew her by name, at least) before making her way into clearance to pick through the jewelry.
Ivy had picked up a few sparkly things, since she liked sparklies. And she was having fun browsing.
Kate ended up with a few pairs of earrings, two bottles of nail polish, and two sets of bracelets. All in all, she spent under twenty dollars, which pleased her.
Ivy ended up with more earrings, as well as some nail polish, and she also spent under twenty. All in all, good day. She was grinning when she took her bag.
"I think we made out okay," Kate said as they got back into the car. She grinned. "And now we both have things to wear for our dates."
"I'd call that a successful shopping trip," Ivy agreed with a brief grin, settling in. "Cute clothes never hurt."
"Not at all," Kate agreed. Putting the car into drive, she pulled out of the lot and started heading for home.
By the next day, Ivy was nervous about the date. It had been a while since she'd been on an actual date, long enough that she was fidgety all day beforehand.
"Everything will be fine," Kate said as she helped Ivy get ready that evening. "The date will go just fine."
"Hopefully," Ivy muttered, twitching her skirt into place and letting Kate decide what to do with her hair. "Why did I agree to this again?"
"Because he seems nice enough and you think he's attractive," Kate said as she brushed out Ivy's hair.
Ivy sighed. "Right. If he wasn't attractive I could have said no." She pouted, although she didn't actually mean it.
Kate snickered a bit.
"He's your type, admit it," she teased. |
"So far," Ivy agreed after a moment of hesitation. "But we'll see."
"It'll be fine," Kate said again. "Hair up or down?"
"Up, but something simple," Ivy said. "If it's down it'll get all over the place."
"I'll see what I can do," Kate said. Carefully, she gathered up most of it into a bun, and then braided the sides and tucked the ends of the braids in under the bun. "How's that?"
Ivy inspected it for a moment before she grinned. "Perfect. Thanks."
"No problem," Kate said, grinning in return. "Have fun, alright?"
"I'll try." Ivy smiled a bit. "If not you'll know sooner rather than later."
