"They should know better," Athena said. "If they want to try, that's on them." Hey, she knew that the visitors were technically invading the weres' territory.
Zee nodded again and stayed quiet, just observing for a while. The other two were more active, walking around the house again and checking outside.
Clint followed them around, making sure they weren't poking around where they shouldn't have been.
Fortunately they didn't seem to want to poke around too much. Instead they watched, while the woman looked vaguely unpleasant and displeased.
Clint raised an eyebrow when he saw the look on her face.
"Something wrong?" he asked. |
"No," she said, though she sounded like that was a problem in and of itself. But she didn't say anything else, instead going to look around a bit again. "Where's the third one?"
"Who, Chloe?" Clint asked. He shrugged. "She hangs out in the rafters sometimes. You know cats and their thing for high places."
The woman pursed her lips but nodded. Clearly she wasn't one of those that agreed with free-roaming weres. "Very well," she said, turning to check the kitchen briefly.
Clint smirked a bit and let her go into the kitchen. He'd already scoped it out and made sure Tony's special appliances wouldn't cause a problem.
After that, she was content to go back outside. She couldn't find anything wrong, much to her disappointment. So she and the other man left. Zee decided to stick around for a while.
Athena sighed a bit and relaxed once the other two were gone.
"None of us like these visits," she commented, settling into a chair. |
"Not surprising," Zee said, leaning against a wall and watching as Chloe slunk back out in the open and Natasha started cleaning her head, prompting a low rumble and some tail flailing.
"Even I don't like it much," Athena admitted. "And I'm nowhere near as territorial as they are."
Zee nodded. "No one would be happy with regular home invasions," he said, shaking his head.
"No kidding," Athena said. She stretched a bit. "Going to hang around for dinner? Bruce and Natasha are cooking tonight."
Zee thought that over for a moment before he nodded. "I think I will," he agreed.
"Alright," Athena said. "Make yourself comfortable, then. Tony's in his workshop." She grinned. "Someone usually goes to pester him about an hour before dinner, so he actually makes it out here while it's hot."
Zee snorted. "He is single minded when he wants," he agreed mildly. "Obnoxious whelp."
Athena just snickered a bit and went to settle on the couch, leaving room for Natasha or Chloe like usual. Clint, on the other hand, climbed back up into the rafters to see if he could even get Chloe to come back down.
Natasha jumped up next to Athena to settle down for a bit, while Zee just relaxed watching them.
Chloe was still very firmly up in the rafters, her tail flicking uneasily as she crouched there. She wasn't going to shift until she got back down, and she wasn't getting down until she felt safer. |
Clint went up through the rafters easily, looking for Chloe.
"They're gone," he said to her. "Well, the two we hate are gone. We like Zee, he helps us look after Tony." |
Chloe snorted at that but crept forward until she was perched right in front of him. Then she sniffed carefully for a moment. And sneezed.
"Yeah, thanks," Clint said, making a face. "I don't smell that bad." He grinned jokingly.
Chloe snorted at him and nudged him gently with her head, careful not to dislodge him. She was clearly still of the opinion that he was fairly breakable.
"Hey, no, I don't do snuggles," Clint said, although he couldn't help laugh a bit. "You want Athena for that, she's the one who likes snuggles. Ask Nat, she snuggles with her all the time."
