Athena let the others go first as well, and then headed into the kitchen.

"Smells good," she commented to Bruce and Chloe.

"Thanks," Bruce replied. "Help yourself."

Chloe smiled a bit, and Steve rubbed her shoulder briefly as he passed on his way back to the living room. She made sure Tony had enough food, stopping him and putting extra food on when she decided he didn't have enough, and then sent him on his way.

Once she was sure Chloe was alright, Athena took her plate into the living room and took up her usual spot on the couch. It would be a tossup whether Natasha or Chloe would join her, but she left the space open anyways.

Chloe ended up next to Bruce, and Natasha sat with Athena after coaxing Clint down to get his dinner. Kyle settled in next to Warren, staying quiet for the moment.

The silence was a little awkward until Warren decided to break it.

"Good place you've got here," he said. "I was wondering what was out this way, didn't think it was anything like this."

"Not many people know what to expect with this place," Steve said with an eloquent shrug.

"I'll bet," Warren said. "Y'all probably throw everyone for a loop." He grinned. "Not that that's bad."

"Not at all," Steve agreed easily. "Would be nice if more places were like this."

"What is it exactly y'all do here?" Warren asked. "I mean, it's obviously not a typical arrangement, right?"

Steve shook his head. "What did we decide to call it?"

"A haven," Clint said from next to Natasha and Athena.

"Right. Weres come here who need a break." Steve shrugged. "And some of us don't leave."

"Surprised more don't stay," Warren replied. "It looks like a good thing you got here."

"It is." Steve nodded. "It's nice. Especially compared to some places." He kept an eye on Chloe to make sure she was still okay, since she was still the youngest and the newest.

"I hear that," Warren said, nodding. "My own first place wasn't so good. I'm in a great place now, though, so I know what it's like."

Steve nodded. "It's much better here," he agreed. "Unfortunately we can't help everyone."

"Unfortunately not," Warren agreed. "But helping as many as possible is good."

Steve nodded, more at ease now, and finished one plate. He went to go get more and get Chloe more. He was good at taking care of his girls, after all.

The tension in the room eased after that. Apparently, Steve's acceptance of Warren was enough for everyone else to relax a bit.

The rest of the evening passed calmly, and even Chloe stuck around to socialize a bit after dinner was done. She didn't talk much but she did stick around.

The evening was pretty comfortable by the time Warren and Kyle left. The cats weren't apprehensive about them anymore, at least, which was good in Athena's book.

"That went well," Steve said, sitting next to Chloe. She rested against his side with a little nod.

"That went really well," Athena agreed, settling in. "I'm glad."

Steve nodded. "Might make the trial easier," he said, settling an arm around Chloe.

Clint made faces. "Don't remind me about that," he grumbled.

"It better make the trial easier," Tony groused as he poked at an old cell phone. "There shouldn't even be a trail, we passed all the tests they wanted us to pass."

"Easy, Tony," Steve said. "We'll just go through this, hopefully we'll get the verdict we want, and it will never be an issue again."

"It will always be an issue, Steve," Tony replied. "Always. That's not going to change."
