Tony emerged into the living room, still visibly angry.

"Apparently they want to investigate us now," he said.

Natasha nodded. She wasn't surprised. "When?" she asked, already running though possible scenarios.

"My best guess is soon," Tony replied. "And, even better, get this, they're going to investigate to make sure we're not exactly what we are."

Natasha sighed. "It's easier for everyone if we're not a haven," she pointed out. "There aren't laws concerning havens, there's no precedent. Besides, being a haven leaves you open for various lawsuits."

"Lawsuits, there shouldn't be lawsuits, everything is settled," Tony pointed out. "Everyone here was either traded for fairly or came on their own, there isn't a question about that." He grumbled under his breath. "And nobody's exactly keeping a collection, here, that's kind of obvious."

Natasha just shrugged. She knew the laws concerning weres well enough, and she also knew they were not designed for havens and free will. But she didn't bother arguing with Tony.

Tony huffed and threw himself down onto a chair.

"We need to figure something out," he said. "Zee will be one of the ones investigating, lucky for us. Small miracles. But we still have two others to worry about."

Natasha nodded. "What do you want to do?" she asked, figuring she'd get his impossible ideas out of the way first.

"I don't know, something," Tony said, waving his hands. "Make it look like everyone belongs to Clint or Bruce or Athena. Something."

Natasha thought that over for a few moments. Bruce or Clint would be easiest; with her job, Athena wouldn't have the funds for this many weres. So she nodded and went to go find Clint to start planning.

Clint had been listening up in the rafters, so he'd heard everything. He knew that he and Bruce were the logical choices, and he moved down a couple of beams when he saw Natasha looking around.

"Up here," he called to her.

Natasha jumped up to join him easily. "Opinions?" she asked, because she knew he had likely overheard. And if he hadn't, it would be quick enough to sum up.

"Bruce or I would be the best choices," Clint agreed. "Probably Bruce, he's actually respectable. People would expect a doctor to own a few weres, given the chance."

"Co-owners," Natasha suggested. "It gives a good explanation for the size of the house, the remoteness. The fact that you both live here." She shrugged. "And it's more economically feasible between the two of you."

Clint considered that for a moment.

"Might work," he ventured. "Though it would have to be uneven, Steve and new-girl would be with Bruce, he seems the type to be able to handle both of them."

Natasha nodded her agreement. "And since it would be on paper only, nothing here would change," she said. "But it would save us trouble in the long run."

"Right," Clint agreed. He paused for a moment. "Finding some poor sap willing to draw up that legal paperwork for us is going to be a nightmare."

"Perhaps not as nightmarish at it might normally be." Natasha smiled like the predator she was. "Athena works for a law firm."

Clint blinked.

"It can't possibly be that easy," he said in disbelief.

Natasha rumbled gently. "It might not be, but Tony has an unusually large sum of money he is willing to throw at this problem in particular," she said.

"Meaning there's got to be someone who sees that mountain of money and thinks it might not be so bad to cash in," Clint said. "It could work."

Natasha nodded. "We'll have to go talk to one of them tomorrow," she said. "It's a bit late now unfortunately, and I don't have phone numbers yet."

Clint nodded.

"That's good enough, I figure," he agreed.

Natasha nodded and stretched out along her rafter, getting comfortable there for a bit.

Clint did the same, just keeping an eye on things from above.

Down below, Athena was meandering her way into the kitchen to see what was going on.
