"I have no control over this," Coulson murmured back. "I do believe this is a form of revenge, and the best thing to do is let it happen."
Kerry didn't quite whine, but it was a close thing. She did make sure nothing ended up exploding, though.
"I know," Coulson said, mildly sympathetic. "Just let it go, they'll probably pass out by morning and we can leave."
"If they don't they might be helped along to passing out," Kerry muttered. She could slip something in the coffee or tea or whatever they were on by then without a problem.
"FitSimmons aren't like Stark," Coulson pointed out. "They're used to more normal limitations. They'll pass out by morning, no matter how much hyper-strength coffee Stark tries to drown them in."
"No one can work like Stark," Kerry said dryly. "Although after three days his productivity takes a nosedive."
"'Productivity might plummet, but creativity makes a rather troubling climb," Coulson said with a slight smirk. "I'm not so sure it evens out in the end, though."
"After three days is when things like Roombas and sentient toasters happen," Kerry pointed out. "I don't think it evens out."
"No, it doesn't," Coulson agreed. "But you can't deny the creativity."
"I'm not denying the creativity, just the sanity." Kerry shook her head. "Then again, this is Stark, sane is almost never a factor."
"No, it's not," Coulson agreed. He looked back at his paperwork before setting it aside. "And we should probably go help supervise before Stark gives FitzSimmons a Roomba as a pet."
"He's already tried twice," Kerry said, glancing at him. "So far FitzSimmons have been smart enough to refuse."
"Give him time, he'll wear down Fitz enough to say yes," Coulson advised. "He likes the Roombas. Simmons tends to be the voice of reason there, for the most part."
"Well, they'll be passed out by then, Tony only thinks of it when a Roomba passes by," Alexis said with a little grin. "And I can arrange for the Roombas to be busy on another floor until FitzSimmons have passed out."
Coulson snorted softly.
"I'm sure you could," he said. "And it might become necessary." |
"Done." Kerry grinned, tapped a few commands into her phone, and then kept an eye on the Roombas via Jarvis. "Should be good now."
"We'll see," Coulson said. He knew not to underestimate Stark or his technology. "We should still supervise them. They may need more of a restraining force than just Natasha."
"Oh trust me, I never leave them unsupervised. I'm amazed you ever got sleep." Kerry paused. "Then again, you never did have the whole team as a team."
"Trust me, Clint and Natasha alone are enough to give a person gray hair," Coulson said dryly.
"I've gained a few of them so far," Kerry said with a shrug. "Already. And this is just doing paperwork and watching them."
"That's why there are two of you for the team," Coulson said. "It should be marginally easier with a partner."
Kerry sighed. "It would be marginally easier if any of them besides Bruce acknowledges we exist, outside of when we make them," she muttered ruefully.
"They will," Coulson said. "Rodgers and Stark will come around faster once Barton and Romanov do."
"Sir, I don't think Barton and Romanov will ever forgive us," Kerry said dryly.
"There's nothing to not forgive you for," Coulson pointed out. "They just don't like that I've taken on another team. They'll come around."
