"Yup. Or any kind of mutation, that gets odd looks." Kerry rolled her eyes. "Honestly, you'd think they never saw anything other than strictly normal humans."

"You'd think so," Avery replied, nodding. "And they see some of the weirdest shit outside the SHIELD labs."

"Exactly." Kerry grumbled a bit to herself as she finished off another form.

Avery signed another form herself.

"You know," she said softly after a moment, "I kind of want to tell them. I mean, about me. Technically, I have to at some point, according to proper protocol."

"Right. We both will have to at some point. But I'm really not sure if it would help or just get us kicked out faster." Kerry shrugged.

"True," Avery agreed. "I just don't want it to come out the wrong way, you know? Given what their files say, at least Rodgers and Stark both have issues with not being told things, and Barton and Romanov are another level of issues entirely."

"Also based on their files, Stark probably dug up every bit of information in the SHIELD databases on us, and Romanov and Barton probably already know what they think they need to know about us." Kerry shrugged. "However, it is probably a good idea to tell them anyway."

"Yeah, probably," Avery agreed. She paused, and then glanced around. "...unless the sentient house does it for us, that seems like a possibility when it comes to Stark, doesn't it?"

"It does indeed." Kerry was quiet for a moment. "Jarvis, has any of that been relayed to the rest of the team already?"

"Indeed," Jarvis replied mildly. "Sir requested that any conversations had between you within the range of my perceptions be recorded and analyzed, if not taking place with a member of the team present. I do apologize, but Sir has been listening to your conversation ever since you began today."

Kerry shrugged. "Makes sense, from what I know of Stark. Besides, we haven't said anything we weren't planning to tell them on our own. Would you mind telling the whole team for us? They might take it a bit better from you."

"Certainly," Jarvis said, a slight note of approval in his tone. Clearly, he agreed that telling everyone flat-out was a good plan of action.

"Thank you." Kerry grinned at Avery. "See, that wasn't so bad so far."

"So far," Avery echoed. "Let's wait and see what happens."

Kerry nodded and went back to her paperwork to wait and see who came to talk to them first.

Surprisingly, it was Bruce who ventured into the kitchen first. He made a bit of a show of putting some water on to boil as he studied the two agents for a moment.

"I understand there's a little more to you both than meets the eye," he said finally after a moment.

"That's one way to put it," Kerry agreed good-naturedly, glancing up at him from her paperwork. "I think that can be said of everyone on the top ten floors of this building."

"True enough," Bruce agreed, sitting down at the table. "Tony was muttering over something similar earlier, I assume he was reading your files."

"Oh lovely," Avery muttered as she worked on another form.

"Not unexpected," Kerry said. She paused after signing another form. "Although if we're about to be chased out I'd like some warning."

"You don't have to worry about that," Bruce assured her. "If that was going to happen, it would have already and frankly, he'd have to chase everyone else out at that point, too."

Kerry snorted and nodded. "Alright. Is there enough water for two cups?" She raised an eyebrow at him. It wasn't much, but if he accepted, it would be the first bridge between them.

Bruce studied her for a moment, and then nodded.

"Yeah," he said. Getting up, he pulled down two mugs, and then glanced questioningly at Avery. Avery hesitated, and then shook her head.

"I'm good, but thanks," she said.

Kerry smiled at the little victory. She nodded her thanks.

"Last few forms for today," she muttered, looking at the last half inch of papers sitting in front of her.

"You're ahead of me," Avery replied. She sighed and stretched a bit. "Thankfully, these are it for the rest of the week, barring any unforeseen circumstances."

"Right." Kerry grumbled a bit and glanced over at Bruce. "Is there mint tea available? I have no idea what kind of a selection you have."
