"I have never confirmed nor denied my level of weirdness" Horatio stated in a mock-political tone.
|
"Grrrr." Ceres pouted, "Geeze, why do all boys seem to think I'm weird..." She mumbled under her breath
|
Finally Logan came back with food, apparently it takes awhile to get fresh sushi.
|
By the time Logan returned, Horatio was looking much better than when Ceres had come into his room. His hair was tamed down, he had a clean shirt and pants on and Ceres had even gotten him to brush his teeth.
Ceres had brought in some large pillows and they all sat around a large pink orb eatting. "Mmmm.. Thank you Logan-sama." |
Logan shrugged, "No problem" he replied, stealing a glance to Horatio who had decidedly started using his hands to find the food on his plate. It was just easier than attacking blindly with chopsticks.
Logan hadn't really seen him since the trip to Japan, in fact, he rarely saw his son at all and when he did they didn't exactly do much in the way of bonding. Not that Logan really wanted a lot of that sort of thing, but still, he wanted to know the boy was at least alright. He certainly seemed to be, though the images around the room were less than encouraging. Horatio didn't have much to saw since Logan's return, he was glad for the food and simply ate in silence. |
(('Much to saw...' LOL))
Ceres continued to bring conversation to the small gathering. "Hey hey. Did you know Logan-sama was a samurai for my family back in the day?" She pointed out trying to get the ball rolling. |
"Yes" Horatio replied simply.
Logan cocked his head and looked at him, "Why didn't you tell me?" "The mind must be allowed to forget and remember" Horatio sipped at some miso soup, "or the knowledge of lifetimes could drive you mad. That's why none of my sisters are born with the memories, and even after, they only have access to relative information. Even I do not remember everything I have done. This is not the first time I've tried to explain this to you Logan." "Yeah but don't you think that sort of thing becomes relevant information for me if I'm gonna be protecting her?" Logan demanded. "You know now" Horatio took another sip, "before now I had the knowledge that my sisters were safe here. Now I do not." "There ain't no place safer" Logan frowned, shoving some sashimi in his mouth. "There is," Horatio sighed, "but sadly, it won't exist for another millennium" |
"But it's the safest place currently." Ceres commented. "More tea?" She asked pouring another cup.
|
Logan grunted a 'yes' and Horatio sipped at his soup some more.
Eventually it was getting late and everyone had to get some sleep. |
They said their goodnights and headed off to bed.
"Goodnight Hope." She said with a warm smile. "I'll see you tomorrow." |
Ceres visited him on occasion and Horatio was fairly glad to have the company though he did also like his alone time. He had thought a lot about what she said though and, after about two weeks of serious deliberation, he went down to the kitchen in the morning.
Unfortunately Kurt was the first person up and at 'em that day, and he stepped into the kitchen, humming cheerfully and in his full furry glory. He froze upon seeing Horatio, scrambling to come up with an excuse for his appearance when he suddenly realized that Horatio hadn't noticed him. Kurt slowly backed out of the kitchen. "Morning Kurt!" Kitty greeted on her way to the kitchen, only to suddenly be grabbed by the nightcrawler and pulled aside. "Hush. Zere is some one in ze kitchen" he whispered. Kitty blinked and peeking through the wall, only to quickly retreat again, "who is that?" "I do not know" the fuzzy man shook his head. Soon there was a small crowd of the x-mansion kids just outside the kitchen, trying to figure out who the stranger in their home was and what to do about it. Bobby seemed of the mind to march in there and demand some answers. |
Ciara and Ceres headed down the stairs together hand in hand, giggling at something that Ciara had just said.
"Huh? What's going on?" Ceres said, pointing at the crowd. "I dunno but it can't be good if Ice Cube is yelling.." She said hearing Bobby's demanding voice. "Kurt, what's going on?" Celeste asked, approaching the crowd. |
"There's somebody in the kitchen" Kurt explained, "nobody knows who he is, and there hasn't been any new mutants to pick up or missions in weeks." he was fiddling with his image inducer anxiously.
|
Ciara turned to Celeste, "You don't think..."
"Horatio came out of his room?" They looked at each other for a few seconds, both their eyes slowly widening before pushing their way through the crowd. If it was Horatio and he'd finally mustard enough courage to come out of his room. Bobby was NOT the person he should meet first. "Ice Cube you leave him alone!" Ciara demanded, stumbling out of the crowd and into the kitchen, Celeste following close behind. |
Bobby was just stepping foot into the kitchen and about to open his mouth when the girls shoved him aside.
Horatio was sitting on one of the tall stools that came up to the counter. He was having a casual breakfast of scrambled eggs, toast and orange juice. He cleaned up quite nicely to in a crisp white shirt and black jeans, along with a dark grey jacket that went about knee-length. He was wearing his sunglasses and the cane that Ciara had found for him was leaned up against his chair. |
Ciara paused and took in the older teen's appearance before smiling widely and going over to him, "Why good morning Horatio. It's nice to see you out and about." She said picking up an orange and sitting down beside him.
"Good Morning, Horatio. <3" Celeste's voice rang also taking an orange and sat down on the other side of Horatio. |
"Good morning Ciara McCoy" Horatio greeted in return, "Celeste. Are the others going to be joining us soon or do they intent upon lurking in the hallway all day? It will make them very late for school." the others were all peeking their heads around the corner.
|
The two girls giggled.
"It's alright. This is Horatio. He returned with Scott the gang on their last trip to Japan." Ciara explained. "He's just shy that's all." "Hey, you're looking rather dashing this morning Horatio. Doesn't he look dashing, Ciara?" Celeste asked, poking his cheek lightly. "Celeste." Ciara gave her a look and Celeste stuck out her tongue. "Yes... Yes he does. >//>" |
Horatio cleared his throat and removed Celeste's hand from his face. The last thing he needed was his sister interfering with his mojo. "I think I should get a little fresh air" he rose from his seat while the other mutants began to trail into the kitchen at last.
|
"Oh no you don't." Celeste said wrapping an arm around him, "You have to meet everyone first. Then you can go." She said ushering him around. It was important that everyone, especially the little ones knew who he was.
Ciara nodded in agreeance, " Jimmy, Japheth, Sara, this is Horatio." She said helping to introduce him |
Introductions to a large group of people... not his favourite thing in the world. "I am the Time Reaper" he corrected, for in truth very few people knew his real name and due to the nature of his ability, he preferred it that way. Being the Time Reaper made him sound more like a myth that others wouldn't really believe when told. Being Horatio made him... well, too real. And when people believed he was real, he tended to get fan clubs and certain unappealing organizations interested in him. Just one more reason not to leave his room.
"I really don't think this is necessary" Horatio cleared his throat a bit uncomfortably. |
"Introductions are very important, Time Reaper." Ciara pointed out. "Or would you rather have everyone continuously ask who you are or attack you?"
"Hi Mr. Time Reaper." came a small little voice. The little girl looked at her out reached hand and then back at Horatio. "It's ok, he can't see." "Oh, ummm... Handshake? I'm Susan." She was wearing a frilly little dress and had straight white hair. |
Horatio held out his hand for her, though he was a little stiff about it. Damned social situations, "Hello Susan." he greeted.
|
"Oooooh, are you a tin man?" She asked in awe, noticing the stiffness of his handshake. Her fingers brushed against the sleeve of his jacket and slowly the colour turned from dark grey to silver.
|
"No, I am not" he replied, letting the hand shake fall away, he of course did not notice the change. He seemed to have the habit of giving as little of a reply as possible which tended to kill conversations.
