Jess grinned broadly and nodded her agreement of that. She was just fine with exploring for a while, after all.
The Doctor grinned as well, and let her wander around the market a bit more. They still had some time before Jack and Marie were due back, after all.
Jess found a few more interesting little things before she started back towards the Tardis. "So, Doctor, are you glad to have two more companions?"
"It'll be interesting," the Doctor replied. He shrugged slightly. "I've never had this many before. Something to get used to, I suppose." He looked at her. "Are you glad to be traveling?"
"It's certainly better than sitting around trying to readjust to a human life, now that we know," Jess replied after a moment. "But as I'm sure you know it does take a bit of... adjustment."
He did know, and he nodded. Though it was a bit easier, for him, since he'd had time to adjust and put on a different face.
"Well, you'll have plenty of time for that," he said, grinning. "As we're off to the treehouse planet once we're through here." |
"Excellent, that will be quite fun." Jess smiled. "And then we'll find somewhere else to go to, after."
"No doubt," the Doctor replied, grinning. "There's always somewhere else to go."
"Always new places to explore," Jess agreed. "Let alone times." She was quiet for a minute before she spotted Marie and Jack, and she grinned. "And people to tease."
The Doctor grinned when he saw them as well.
"Yes indeed," he said. |
Jack was juggling a few melons about the size of grapefruits as he approached, keeping Marie entertained. He grinned and waggled his eyebrows at her for fun.
Jess snorted at them and shook her head, waiting instead of going to check on her sister like she might normally have. |
Marie couldn't help it, she was laughing at Jack's antics. She was much more relaxed than she had been earlier, and she'd been having a good time with Jack.
The Doctor just rolled his eyes and let Jack do his thing. |
Jack caught them and stowed two in his pockets before handing one to Marie. "There you go. It even still tastes good."
"Where did you even learn how to do that?" Marie asked, taking the little melon. She absently checked it for bruises or soft spots.
"I've picked up a lot of things traveling," Jack said with a flirty grin. "Most of it is even useful at some point."
"Clearly," Marie replied, grinning back. She tucked the melon into her bag
Jack grinned. "I notice you didn't pick up much else. Nothing else caught your eye this time?"
"Nothing I absolutely had to have," Marie replied. She grinned a bit. "I noticed you picked up quite a bit."
"I'm always picking up new things," Jack said with a grin. "Makes my room more comfortable, and sometimes the Doctor forgets about things like food."
"Really?" Marie said, raising an eyebrow. "He's really kind of odd. Even by our race standards."
"Yeah, he is," Jack agreed. "But he's a good man, generally speaking."
"I hope so," Marie said. "He's all we have left of home."
Jack nodded. "You'll get used to him, and he'll get used to you. Might take a bit, though. He was alone for a while before I started traveling with him."
"Being alone is a dangerous thing," Marie said. "We're a pretty social people, 'alone' isn't easy."
"I've noticed." Jack shook his head. "At least that won't happen now, should be good, right?"
