Jess glanced at Marie. "We could," she said quietly. "I mean, should be interesting, and what do we have here, really?"

Jack grinned at that. He was always a fan of more people, after all.

Marie thought about it for a moment, weighing their options. Finally, she nodded.

"Alright," she said. "Let's go."

The Doctor grinned brightly.

"Fantastic!" he said. "Let's go then. We can check on that wrinkle, and then I've got the Tardis parked just around the corner, we can be off in no time!"

"Right, the wrinkle." Jess shook her head a bit. "And we'll grab clothes because who knows what he has for women." She rolled her eyes. This was going to take some getting used to.

Jack snickered. "You go check on the wrinkle," he told the Doctor. "I'll help someone pack. I don't mind being a packmule."

The Doctor rolled his eyes a bit and nodded.

"Bring them straight to the Tardis," he said. "I'll meet you there."

Marie just headed into her room and take stock of what she wanted to bring with her.

"Yell if you need help," Jack said cheerfully, grinning.

Jess looked after the Doctor for a moment before she shook her head and headed back to her room to throw necessary things in a bag.

The Doctor rolled his eyes again and headed out the door.

Marie didn't immediately begin packing. It felt odd, uprooting so suddenly, even though she knew none of the life from before had been 'real'.

Jess managed to get her packing done through sheer force of will and willfully ignoring the fact that they likely wouldn't be coming back. She moved her two bags out into the hallway and stopped there, forcing herself to just breathe for a few minutes.

Marie managed to get the essentials packed, although she couldn't stop herself from throwing a few sentimental things into her bags as well. Finally, she carried them out into the hall and then, after a moment of thought, went back into her room and grabbed the blanket and pillow from her bed. She wanted something familiar, if she was going to be on the Tardis for the foreseeable future.

"Ready?" Jack asked the two. When Jess nodded, he picked up one of her bags and held out a hand for one of Marie's. "I'll show you back to the Tardis and you two can have a few minutes before the Doctor gets back."

Marie nodded and handed him one of her bags. She picked up the other, tucked the pillow and blanket under her other arm, and followed him out of the house.

Jack took them back to the Tardis and pulled out his key, unlocking it and letting them inside.

"At least you two won't stop and stare," he said cheerfully. "Kinda took me by surprise the first time."

"Stare at what?" Marie asked as she walked into the Tardis with only the slightest falter in her step. It wasn't surprising that the box was bigger on the inside, but it was still painfully familiar.

"This. The inside. Or the library. Or the pool." Jack shrugged. "Take your pick, really."

"Most of everything on Gallifrey did the bigger-on-the-inside thing," Marie said. "It was normal there." Although, granted, she was more used to smaller-on-the-inside from living on Earth so long, but the Gallifreyan physics didn't bother her much.

"So I've gathered." Jack shrugged. "Anyway, you can just kinda toss your stuff somewhere for now. Go ahead and explore if you want."

Marie held on to her things for the moment and tentatively began to look around. She wanted to find a room she could put her things where she wouldn't be lost or in the way.

Jess also started to look around, hoping for an actual room to put her things in. It was kind of interesting seeing the inside of the Tardis, but it hurt, too. She wasn't sure if she wanted to find a corner for a bit or keep walking around.

After a few minutes of walking around, Marie did just that. She stopped and settled herself back into a corner, crouching down and wrapping her arms around herself.

"What are we doing, Jess?" she asked. "We just agreed to leave everything behind to ride around in a Tardis with the Doctor."

Jess moved over and sat down with her, sighing. "We're doing something potentially stupid," she said. "But what options did we have? Staying there? I don't think I could do that, not now. Not anymore."

"No, I don't think we could have, either," Marie agreed, leaning against Jess a bit. She sighed. "But we did still have a life there, we might have been able to make it work for a while."

"But how often do opportunities like this come along?" Jess asked quietly. "I mean, we might have been able to make it work for a while. But what about when we couldn't?" She sighed. "This just seemed easier. But it's not that much easier, because it's so much like home."

"I miss home," Marie said softly. She blinked rapidly, trying to keep back tears. "I miss Gallifrey."

"I know. I do too." Jess leaned against her. "At least some of it still survives. The Tardis feels better, but it kind of hurts too, you know?"

"Yeah. Familiar, kind of, but not the same." Jess shook her head. "Harder than I thought."
