Lori stepped onto the train with a last look at her city she found a seat and watched as the city move by. She rubbed her cheeks trying not to cry in front of the crowd of people.
Talia left the city passing by Gemini as she went. "Oh you...well looks like are little chess game will be at a checkmate for a while. I'm done with Gotham and Lori is safe from me." she smirked a little. "Though Bruce may need you." she laughed. |
Bruce got to the train station just as Lori's train left. Watching, he felt like someone had punched him in the stomach. "Lori...no..." Clenching his fists, he fought hard not to cry. There was only one thing he could think of to do now. He turned and left the station, hunting for Talia.
Gemini growled. "What did you do this time, you crazy bitch? Or are you running away again? You realize that even if Lori stays away from Bruce, you'll never get him. Especially not now that Ivy's got her hooks in him." Sh said, laughing bitterly. "It's too bad you made an enemy of Ivy. She could have gotten Bruce for you, easily. But it doesn't matter now. You're alone. Bruce will never love you, your son is disgusted by you, and Lori's daughter will always come first in Bruce's mind. You're nothing but a failure...just like your father." |
"My father was the greatest person in the world even Bruce respected him to the very end." Talia looked down. "It was my decision to come back to annoy the city but I see what father saw and I am going to deal with the rest of the world first. Besides Lori broke away from Bruce he does not have to be mine." she looked at Bane then back to Gemini. "You can poke at me and anything I do but you can't call my father a failure he gave his last breath protecting Damien and that is the greatest thing." she shook her head. "I pity this city it will watch the rest of the world fall to my league." she sensed Bruce's approach and turned to wait for him.
|
"Your father was a madman, and in the end he was a fool to think he could do anything besides annoy people. Even Damien sees that, now. No one, not Bruce, not even your own son, has any respect for that pathetic old man." Gemini said coldly.
As Bruce approached, he saw that Talia was talking to Gemini. The look Gemini gave him told him that she had a plan, but somehow he felt like he wouldn't like her plan much. "Talia. What did you do? I just watched my fiance ride away on a a train, and I know you had something to do with it." |
Talia growled then shrugged "Lori left so that she could help you protect the city you won't see her again." she looked to Gemini. "You want a fight fine." she gave Bane her suitcase and pulled a knife from her boot. "Let's begin." she growled.
|
Gemini pulled a small dagger she kept up her sleeve and faced off against Talia. "I would like nothing more." She said, launching herself at the other woman. She just had to keep taunting her, maneuver her back towards the forest. It wasn't that far away.
Bruce watched, stunned, not sure if he should interfere or not. He was rather distracted by Talia's last statement: you won't see her again. That couldn't be true. Lori would come back- she had to. He couldn't lose her, too. |
Talia fought against her with a single minded ferocity not noticing where they were going. She was stronger and faster then she looked.
Lori arrived in New York and set out to find a new apartment missing her Bruce and Gotham all ready. She had called Lena on the ride so her daughter hurried to find her father. She raced towards him "It is true mom left?'' she asked panting. |
Gemini fought hard. She had known that Talia was a beast to fight, so thankfully she was prepared for it, but that didn't stop her from getting plenty of cuts and bruises. She noticed that they were almost int he forest, and fought harder. "Poor Talia, did I hurt your feelings? Too bad your daddy isn't here to help you. Not that he could have, anyway. You're just as pathetic as him. He tried so hard to beat death, but in the end, he was powerless."
Bruce snapped out of his stupor and looked at Helena. For a moment, all he could do was nod. "She left...she didn't even say goodbye." He said, sounding broken. |
"You have to go after her dad it's your only chance. I know where she went the next best place to rob. New York city she always talked about it." Lena took his head. "If you don't want to lose her go to her carry her back if you have to."
"You know nothing of my father." Talia managed to cut her cheek then blinked as the sunlight vanished staring at the forest around her. "What is this?' |
Gemini didn't even flinch at the cut. "I know he was a failure." She taunted, just as they entered the forest. Perfect. She thought. "This is the end." She answered, still fighting to get Talia further in. Now she was relying on Ivy to catch the woman.
Bruce nodded, then nodded again, as if confirming his decision. "I'll go and get her. Keep an eye on things while I'm gone, Lena. I promise, I'l bring her back." He said, before running off in the direction of the train station. |
"Good luck." Lena whispered then went to watch the show.
"You were very bad to hurt my kitty." Ivy stepped from the shadowy forest. "Know you'll pay." Vines slammed into Talia and Bane when he appeared to help his mistress. Ivy watched as her Venus fly trap pulled them into it mouth. "Enjoy being melted to death." She laughed. |
Gemini smirked as Ivy appeared. She managed to get one good shot in before Talia and Bane were both swallowed- Talia was swallowed with Gemini's knife still in her heart. "Ding dong the witch is dead." She sang softly. "Thank you, Ivy. I appreciate the help."
Bruce didn't bother packing anything. He simply got a ticket and took the next train to New York, determined to find Lori before the end of the night. |
"Oh it was my pleasure but I heard what you did to Harley...you return here alone again you'll be fertilizer for my pet as well." Ivy vanished into the forest with her pet.
Lori wondered towards a nice apartment building glad to have found a place this late. She but the rent down and moved in planning on sleeping on the floor till she could transfer her money to a bank in New York. |
Gemini blinked. She had no idea that Ivy had ever even noticed Harley, never mind liked her. "Then again, Ivy does play for the other team..." She mused, shaking her head and walking out of the forest. She still didn't feel bad about killing Harley. She had done what she felt was necessary, and that was all it was. Taking out her phone, she sent off a quick text to Bruce to let him know that Talia was dead- she failed to mention that it was her who'd killed her- then she wandered off to find Joker.
Bruce made it to New York by the time the sun started to set, and went about searching straight away. He asked a few people working at the train station about Lori, and got a few promising leads that took him out into the city itself. Checking his phone, he saw the message from Gemini and felt a mixture of emotions. It was a good thing, because now he could tell Lori that it was safe to come back. But he had a good idea about how Talia had died, and that wasn't so good. He decided to worry about it later, after he found his fiance. |
Lori ate a whole pint of ice cream to drown her sadness. Then slipped out into the city she spotted Bruce and hide cursing slightly.
Joker was robbing a bank laughing softly. |
Bruce was getting frustrated. In Gotham, he knew the entire city and every place that Lori liked to hide out. He didn't have that luxury in New York. Just as he was about to find a hotel for the night, he heard a familiar voice cursing- something he never would have caught if he hadn't spent years listening for just that. Trying not to make it obvious, he headed to where he had heard the curing come from.
Gemini shook her head. It wasn't too hard to find him...she wondered if she should count that as a good thing or a bad thing. She stayed back, not wanting to be spotted by the police, and waited for him to finish. |
Joker strolled toward her bags in hand. "They really are useless." He chuckled to his hyenas who cackled.
Lori saw him coming and slipped deeper into the shadows. They where evenly matched at this game she had been hiding from him for ages and he had been chasing her for the same amount of time. She just hoped his limited knowledge of the city would give her the edge. |
Looking farther into the shadows, Bruce sighed. He knew he could spend hours, days, even months chasing Lori, and he really didn't feel like it. "Lorinda." He called into the gathering darkness, hoping she'd stick around to hear him. "I know you're here. Please don't run away. Listen, I need you to come home. Please, I...I can't handle this. You know how much I've lost over the years, how many have left me...I can't lose you, too. I won't let you just run away. I need you." He knew he was begging, but at the moment it was all he could think to do. "Talia is dead, Lori. I just got the message a little while ago. But even if she wasn't, I...I would still choose you. If I had to choose, I would give up being Batman for you. I'd even move here to New York if you wanted me to."
Gemini shook her head again, sighing. "Yeah, well, they never were all that great to begin with. And you've pretty much gotten a holiday while Batman's out of town...though Damien might take over while he's gone. I don't know yet." She shrugged. "So listen, I have to get home and feed Lucifer, but I wanted to find you first, to tell you. Talia's dead! Ivy helped out big time, but I killed her. Her and Bane both are currently being digested by a giant human-eating plant." She said happily. "On the down side, Ivy apparently hates me and said I'm never allowed back in her forest alone, but I'm not all that worried about that. I never talk to her unless it's about Lori, anyway, and I'm just glad she doesn't have a girl crush on me. Did you know she liked Harley, though?" |
"Of course the three bad girls ran together for a while and formed a sisterhood...it ran deeper for Lori and Ivy but that's a story for them to tell you." Joker chuckled.
Lori had been the verge of leaving but exploded from the shadows hugging him as tight as she could. "Don't change because of me." She ordered. "I love you the way you are." |
"Huh. I'll have to ask Lori about that." Gemini said. "Okay, well, I should go. See you later?"
Despite being sure that Lori was there, Bruce was still caught off guard by her tackling him. "Oof! Lori! Lori..." He hugged her back, tightly. "I would do anything for you. Why do you think I followed you here?" He pulled back slightly and lifted her chin to look at her. "How could you leave me like that, without even saying goodbye? Do you know how badly it hurt to find your home empty, and the ring I gave you sitting on the table? I thought I would die." |
Joker kissed her briefly. "It's a date." He grinned then raced away.
"Oh you would have been fine...saying goodbye would have been to hard I had to help you protect the city." Lori sighed. "I couldn't kill her so I did the next best thing. I missed you so much at its only been a few hours I'll never leave you again." Lori kissed him. |
Gemini smiled and headed home, where she was greeted by a hungry Lucifer. She fed him and took a shower, wincing as the water hit all the cuts she had gotten. Then she put on a pair of pajamas and decided to watch T.V. for a while, Lucifer sitting at her feet happily.
"You'd better not." Bruce said after they had kissed. "I'll track you down all the way to hell and back if I have to. And you don't have to worry about Talia anymore, or Bane. Though I'm starting to think we should both worry about Gemini...I'm pretty sure she killed Talia." |
"What!? Is she stupid?" Lori groaned. "This is why I left. Know Damien doesn't have a mom all he has is you. I should have let Ivy drug her like she wanted." Lori grumbled the last part.
Of course the Joker was all over the news along with Ivy who had managed to snare a few other people after she had left her. Everyone was asking the same question "where was batman." |
Bruce raised an eyebrow. "Ivy wanted to drug who now?" He asked.
Gemini sighed and turned off the news, not wanting to deal with it. "I guess Damien and Helena aren't looking after things..." |
"No one...nothing." Lori kissed him deeply to distract him.
Lena appeared looking tired and bruised. "I'm tired." She yawned. "Me and Damien have been taking care of the city." |
