Batman smiled, just a little. "I think I'm okay, but I won't be jumping off any more buildings anytime soon." He said. "I'm old."
|
"It was a stupid idea...even if you are chasing a pretty lady you have to know your limits love your no spring chicken anymore." Lori sighed then paused. "Mind getting up?"
|
"Oops." Batman got up, glad his mask hid his blush. "You're right, of course. I guess I quit this gig just in time, if this kind of thing was going to start happening." He said.
|
"Your blushing." Catwoman grinned and sat up then held out her hands. "Better take me away protector of the city I did steal after all."
|
Batman blinked, surprised. "How can you...you know me too well." He said, shaking his head. Once he made sure his legs wouldn't give out again, he picked Catwoman up. "I'm going to have to take you back with me." He said in a mock-serious voice.
|
Catwoman clung to his neck. "Oh no whatever shall I do." She leaned her head on his shoulder.
|
((*Sigh* okay Wolfie doesn't know what to do next.))
|
((Hmm...switch to being the kids?))
|
((Ooh...good idea! Should we bring the kids to school age and start there?))

Six years later
Martha struggled against Lori as her mother tried to fix her hair. "There." Lori grinned at Martha who glared she was a mini Lori in all ways but her hair color which she had taken from her father. "Happy?" Martha huffed. "Yes I am." Lori looked to Bruce. "Our little girls all grown up." |
Bruce nodded. It was difficult to handle, watching his youngest get ready for school. "Now remember to behave, make friends and learn a lot. Listen to the teacher, and no using your brother as a threat." He said, smiling at the girl.
Calcifer stood quietly, staring down at his shoes while his mother tried, for the millionth time, to tame his wild red hair. Of course, it was futile as always, so Gemini gave up with a sigh. "Well, that's the neatest it's going to get. April, don't pick that scab." She said, stopping Cal's twin in her tracks. April pouted. Of the two, she was the more active and outspoken twin. "But it itches." She protested, earning the usual stern look from her mother. "Fine, I'll leave it..." April huffed, giving in. She was too excited for school to be too upset, anyway. |
"No promises on that last one." Martha grinned then raced off as the bus pulled up she waved from her seat.
"I can't believe there old enough to go to school." joker sighed. |
Bruce sighed. "She is too much like you." He said, chuckling slightly.
Gemini nodded. "I know. They grow up too fast." She said. Cal got excited when he saw the bus pulling up- which meant that he smiled and tugged on his sister's sleeve. "I bet Martha's already on there." He said in his quiet little voice. April jumped up and down as the bus stopped in front of them. "Let's find out!" She said, pulling Cal onto the bus. She spotted Martha and waved. "Martha! Hi!" She chirped as they both sat down with their friend. |
"Hi you two. Ready for school?" Martha grinned back at them waving briefly to Gemini and Joker.
Lori chuckled and leaned against him. "It's not that bad." |
Bruce smiled."I guess you're right. Two of you is always a good thing." He said.
Cal nodded. "I'm a little nervous, but excited, too." He said. "Well I'm super excited! April said. "I can't wait to make lots of friends!" |
"You two are the only friends I need." Martha looked at her hands. "You'll be the only ones who will like me for me and not for my money."
Lori blushed a little. |
Suddenly, Cal broke from his usual subdued nature. "That's not true! You're a great person, and anyone who gets to meet you is lucky!" He realized how loud he'd been, and saw people staring. He blushed and sat further down in his seat. "You'll make friends easy, without them ever knowing about your parents." He said, more quietly this time.
April giggled at her twin's outburst. She knew why he reacted that way, but she wouldn't tell. "He's right, though, Martha. And if anyone even tries to use you for money, Cally and I will kick their bums!" She said, making a fist. |
"You two are so nice to me." Martha blushed a little. "I hope you two are right." she spotted the school and took a deep breath. "Here we are."
|
"Of course we're right." April said confidently as she stood up. "Let's all hold hands as we walk in. That way, our first steps into school will be together."
Cal stood up as well, clearly nervous. He liked his sister's idea, but looked at Martha for her opinion. He wouldn't do it if it wasn't all of them. "I'll do it if Martha will. All for one and one for all, right?" |
Martha stood and took Cal's hand. "I'm to nervous not to hold hand." she swallowed a little and took one of April's hand's as well.
|
Cal found himself blushing for a reason he didn't fully understand, but he stayed quiet about it as April took the lead, as always.
April smiled. "Great, let's go!" She said, leading the little group into school for the first time, with her and Cal on either side of Martha as they liked to be. |
Martha ducked her head feeling shyer then normal. "Oh this is so awkward." she sighed and found three desks connecting quickly claiming it and hiding behind April.
|
Cal chose the seat to Martha's left, which put him between her and the rest of the class.
April, still smiling, sat in front of Martha, taking a seat right I the front of the classroom. |
Martha eyed the teacher as the day went on as well as the kids who sat around them studying them looking like her father when he tried to figure out a person's weakness.
|
Cal listened intently to the teacher. He already knew a lot of the things she taught them, but he loved learning so he didn't mind. At lunch time, he gathered with Martha, too shy to go meet anyone else.
April raised her hand often, more than anyone else in the class, to the teacher's amusement. She didn't know as much as Cal, because he read a lot more than her, but she had plenty of questions and a thirst for knowledge. When lunch came around, she went to socialize and make friends- and also learn people's minds. |
