Gemini nodded and kissed him. "I promise." She said, before giving April a hug and a warning to behave.

Cal looked scared. "Mari...Rilly...I gotta go with them..." He said. "Whatever happens...I'm sorry I acted that way. I promise, no matter what I said, I didn't mean it." He told them.

Bruce came over. "Come on, Cal. It's time to go." He said. "Hey, don't look like that. We're going to bring Cal back safely, and we'll fix whatever's wrong."

Lori kissed Martha's forehead then with Damien's help managed to shove everything into one car. "All set here." She smiled as Damien got into the back.

Cal glanced back at the girls once before getting into the car behind his mother.

April looked up at her father. "Cal is going to be okay, right?" She asked.

"I sure hope so April." Joker sighed not wanting to sugar coat it. He explained what he knew blinking at the look on Martha's face. She looked a cross between relieves and annoyed.

It took them sixteen hours to get to Budapest and by that time Lori was asleep leaning against Bruce with Damien's head in her lap.

April looked at Martha. "What's wrong, Martha?" She asked.

Cal had stayed awake, as usual. Even traveling, he couldn't sleep. He didn't realize that his mother had been watching him.

After half-dozing for sixteen hours, Gemini finally understood why Cal always looked so tired. He didn't sleep at all, not even a blink.

"Why Cal though?" Martha sighed a little.

Lori woke when the plane landed and yawned softly. "Thank goodness." she grumbled stretching a little.

"It's because he's a boy." April replied, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. "He couldn't use Damian because he had already chosen, so the only boy left who hadn't chosen yet was Cal."

Bruce woke up when Lori did, yawning. "Oh, good, we're here." He said.

Gemini stretched. "Let's get this over with." She said, noticing Cal's discomfort in a way only a mother could.

Cal stayed quiet. It was taking all of his concentration to stop his power from hurting everyone.

It was a long walk to Ra's palace. "Damn him and his need to be off the grid. I'm getting way too old for this." Lori puffed managing to somehow have the energy to complain.

"What?" Joker blinked looking at Martha who shrugged.

April blushed, looking guilty. "I've been studying uncle Bruce's files so that I'd know the bad guys...it looks like this one guy is a complete chauvinist pig." She explained.

"I'll carry you, if you want." Bruce offered.

Gemini huffed. "Egotistical bastard had to live in a place like this..." She mumbled.

Cal, again, was mostly silent. He was getting more and more nervous. "It's acting up. My power. We need to hurry." He said.

Damien gave both girls a look. "I like my birth home thank you very much." He knocked on the door only to blink as ninja's appeared grabbing both girls thought they seemed leery about touching Bruce and Todd. "The master's grandson has returned. Inform him at once at let us threw." Damien drew himself to his full height pleased when they did as told. They where ushered inside where they dropped the girls and vanished as Ra's appeared from the house.

Gemini let out a startled yelp when she was grabbed, but knew better than to shoot her mouth off at a time like that. She glanced at Cal, hoping he was alright.

If Ra's was surprised to see so many unexpected visitors, he didn't show it. "Damian, what a pleasure to see you returned. And you brought guests. To what do I owe the pleasure?"

"You know exactly why we're here, Ra's. We want answers." Bruce said, not in the mood for games.

Cal held in a gasp at seeing the man from his dream. Until that point, he hadn't really believed it was real. "You're the one...you did something to me. You made me hurt people! Fix it! Take this power away!" His voice rose with his temper, and an unseen force gouged deep cuts into the ground around Cal.

''Like dad said we want answers. Please grandfather Cal is my friend...why would you have done this to him?" Damien frowned a the man.

Ra's raised a hand, and suddenly Cal's powers died down. "I only unlocked the power that was already inside of him." He said calmly. "And added a failsafe so that I could control them from a distance. This was to last only until he learned to use his ability."

"That's not true. Neither I or his father have powers, and his twin sister doesn't, either." Gemini said angrily.

"That is not the case. I am aware that you, Gemini, are able to communicate with animals. As for the sister, she also has latent powers that have yet to be awakened." Ra's countered without missing a beat.

"If that's true, then why did you choose Cal? Why do this at all?" Bruce asked.

"Actually, the choice was made for me. I wanted to unlock both siblings abilities, but his sister proved more difficult. She was more mentally sound, which made it impossible. Young Calcifer, however, was already unstable due to insomnia. It was easy to enter his mind. As for why, it was simply a curiosity. I came across two children with incredible power in them, and I learned that these children were important to my grandson, so I freed the power that I saw."

"But why can't I control it? And when did we ever meet you? How did you get into my dream?" Cal asked.

"Originally, you and your sister's abilities would have been naturally awakened when you reached the age of thirteen. Freeing that power before you were ready made it difficult to control. I encountered you and your sister when you were very young, and I happened to be passing through Gotham. As for your dreams, I used a complicated magic. That is also how I am able to control you."

"Your crazy." Lori stated as if mentioning the weather. "I thought you would have learned to stay away from us after I killed Taliah!" She shifted under the gaze of all the ninja sliding closer to Bruce.

Ra's smiled, though it was a cruel expression. "But, you see, that is exactly the point. I have here the opportunity to hurt you using your own family. Why would I not take this chance, after you took my daughter?" He explained coolly.

"I won't do that! I don't know how you're controlling me, but I'll figure out how to stop it!" Cal said angrily.

"You've made a grave mistake, messing with my children. You're not the only one who knows magic. I'll break my son free of your control."

"And I will teach him to control his ability. You'll regret this, Ra's." Bruce said.

"Talia was trying to kill me." Lori growled then pulled at Damien who took her arm. "He's not worth it Lori. I was coming back when I had finished my training but now I will never come back to you or your...way of living!" he turned his back on his grandfather.

"An unfortunate choice, but I no longer need you to come back. I have found someone more suited to my needs."

"I'm not gonna be your puppet!" Cal said angrily.

"Let's just go. We're wasting our time here." Bruce said.

Gemini nodded, turning around to leave. "We'll find some way to break his control over Cal."

"Leave if you wish, but young Calcifer will come back. He has no choice."

"And if I kill you grandfather?" Damien turned back eye's blazing. "You forget I know all your secrets." he smirked. "And half your men would rather follow me then someone you just picked."

"Such confidence for one who hasn't been here in so long. Everyone here is dedicated completely to me, and will follow whomever I choose. I have made a few staff changes since you left, grandson."

Cal grabbed Damian's arm. "Come on. Don't let him bait you. I'm never coming back here, so it doesn't matter." He said.

Meanwhile, April was having something like a nervous breakdown. It had started with a headache, and had quickly progressed to a raging fever and incoherent babbling.

Martha was watching her frowning while Joker was panicking doing all he could think of to make her feel better.

Damien glared at Ra's. "Mother would be ashamed of you." he walked away leading the way. Lori stuck close to Bruce feeling the eye's of everyone watching her.

As they left, Cal suddenly got a strange feeling. "Something's wrong with April." He said, in the confident way of a twin with a mental link.

April seemed to quiet down as Cal got closer to home, though her fever got to a point where it was painful to touch her. "Cally..." She called for her brother weakly.

Lori opened the front door blinking as Joker explored from the house pulling Gemini inside talking to fast to understand him.

Gemini stumbled over herself trying to keep up. "What, what is it?" She pulled up short when she saw April. "Oh, God. April!" SHe went to her daughter's side, unable to touch her. "What's wrong with her?"

Cal ran in and nearly pushed his mother away. "Rilly, I'm here now. Tell me what to do." He said, actually managing to hold her hand.

"Cally? It burns..." April whimpered, squeezing her brother's hand. There was a moment of silence, then a blinding flash of light. April coughed and sat up.

"What just happened?" Bruce asked, bewildered.

"Her powers unlocked." Cal said.

"But I reacted badly because Cal was far away." April added.

"I think I need to lie down." Lori slumped into a chair. "Why can't are life ever be normal?" She sighed.

Martha was staring at them open mouthed.

"Normal? What's that?" Gemini asked sarcastically.

"Beats me." Bruce answered, going to sit down next to Lori.

"So...this means we both have powers?"

"Yeah, but I don't know what yours are yet. For me, it's this psychic blast thing that hits physically."

"Based on that fever, I'm gonna guess it's something to do with fire. Martha, what's wrong?"
