"It is exactly like the one you found last night," Ish said, a bit woodenly. "It must be hers." And it suddenly came crashing down on him, just like that: he had a daughter. He'd had a daughter, all this time, and never known.

Robin looked at him and then swore quietly. Nope, someone else needed to work now, they needed to go back to his apartment and work this out.

"Well then, it sounds like you've got a lot to think over, and here isn't really the best place to think. Come on. Let's head back to my place."

Ish just nodded and handed the bar keys off to Danyeal. The other peri could look after things for the night well enough. Once the bar was well in-hand, Ish just followed Robin out. He had entirely too much on his mind now to stay at work.

Robin got him back to the apartment and made him sit, getting out the whiskey and pouring them each some.

"What conclusion did you come to and why do you believe her?" he asked, handing over a glass.

Ishiah drank the whiskey before he even began to speak.

"She is mine," he said finally. "By Rose. The pattern on the feathers she leaves, the smiting... There is no other explanation."

Robin absorbed that for a few moments before he swore and poured them both more whiskey.

"Even if she is yours, which I don't know if I'm willing to just accept yet, what do you want to do?" He looked at Ish for a moment. "You don't have to accept her, you can tell her to get lost." He had a feeling that wouldn't happen, but he felt he had to point out the possibility to Ish.

"I don't know," Ish said, accepting the whiskey a second time. "I never knew about her. I swear upon the Almighty's name, had I known, I'd have looked after her."

"I know. You wouldn't have just left her." Robin sighed. "Well, there is always another option." It wasn't an option that he liked as much, since it meant he wouldn't get to monopolize Ish all the time. But it would make Ish feel better, since he could see the peri already starting the mental flogging.

"What other options do you see, Robin?" Ish asked, looking at him. "Because I see none. It is too late to take her in and look after her, she is grown."

"Grown, but how much training do you think she's had?" Robin asked. "She learned some things, sure, but not everything. You could probably show her a few things."

Ishiah went quiet, thinking about that. He hadn't been able to look after the girl, but this much he might still be able to do. He finished his glass of whiskey and set it down.

Robin could see him considering it and leaned back, just waiting for now. Of course Ishiah would have a daughter show up that's already grown. Although, in a way, that was better; a young daughter would have required a lot more time. And Robin was selfish enough to want as much time as he could get with the peri.

After a little while more, Ish finally nodded.

"I will try to discuss the situation with her," he said. "Perhaps there is still something to be done."

"I'm sure you two can find something to bond over," Robin said. "Tomorrow. Don't worry about it any more for tonight." He grinned. "You'll give yourself gray hairs."

Ishiah snorted a bit but settled in with Robin. The puck was right, there was nothing else to be done right then.

By the next day, Maggie was questioning if she should even have gone to New York. Sure, her mom had made her promise to find Ishiah, but there wasn't anything he could do, and he already had a life.

"Maybe we should head back, or find somewhere else to go to," she mused over lunch, turning a salt shaker between her hands.

"We're already here," Dani reasoned, stirring the straw in her ice water absently. "May as well see what else the city has to offer before we hightail it out again."

"True. There should be some fun things around here, at least." Maggie shrugged and leaned back, ignoring her own iced tea for the moment. "Guess we'll see how it goes."

Dani nodded. Then she paused and blinked when Ishiah seemed to come out of nowhere next to Maggie.

"Come with me," he said, taking her by the arm. "We need to talk."

"Hey!" Maggie said, managing not to flail or fall flat on her face when he pulled her out of her chair. "What the hell?"

"Don't mind them," Robin said, sliding into Maggie's vacated seat. "They're just going to go figure some things out."

"There are some things that need to be discussed," Ish said, steering her into the back office.

Dani blinked.

"Okay, then," she said, stirring her water again. "So I'm assuming he believes her now."

"Things that give you the right to grab me and drag me off?" Maggie pulled her arm free, glaring at him.

"Seems to," Robin agreed. "He feels bad he missed her whole childhood." He shrugged and took a sip of Maggie's tea.

"You could have left at any time," Ish pointed out, raising an eyebrow and closing the office door behind them.

"Interesting," Dani said slowly. She glanced around and settled back in her seat. "This is surprisingly boring now. I was kind of looking forward to a shouting match or something."

"Yes, but that would have caused a scene, and I prefer not to do that." Maggie crossed her arms over her chest. "So what is it you feel we need to discuss?"

Robin snorted. "Nah, Ish breezed right past that. Just watch, soon he'll stumble straight into overprotective, and then things will get interesting."

Ish was quiet for a moment.

"Why did Rose not say anything?" he asked.

Dani snickered.

"Oh Maggie won't appreciate that," she said. "She's way too independent to take that lying down."
