"This is Kaelas," Heather said. "Kaelas, Tony Stark and Charles Xavier."
Clint perked up at that. "Baking?" he asked, grinning a bit. |
Kaelas padded over to sniff them both. He sneezed at Tony and looked a little more interested in Charles. A little. But he didn't outright reject either one.
"Oh yeah. I splurged and upgraded the kitchen, so I've got all kinds of space now." Lily grinned. "I bake pretty often." She hadn't missed the way he'd perked up. |
Heather nodded her satisfaction of that and slipped her shoes off.
"There are empty bedrooms upstairs," she said to Tony and Charles. "You're welcome to choose any one you want." "Awesome," Clint said. He was definitely going to take advantage of that. |
"Sure," Tony said, heading upstairs. Charles, on the other hand, examined Kaelas for a few moments longer.
"Well, you really do have quite the group here, don't you?" Charles asked Heather with a smile. Lily grinned. Yay, another guinea pig. "Not like I need any encouragement, but at least I'll have another person to blame when things start vanishing." |
"I do now," Heather replied, grinning a bit.
"Perfect," Lucivar deadpanned. There was humor in his eyes, though, and he quirked a bit of a grin at Lily. |
Charles chuckled and went to go see about taking the room that Tony didn't take, investigating as he went.
Lily grinned at him. "See, you can heap the blame on him instead," she said with no remorse at all. Oh yes, she was going to have far too much fun now. |
Heather let them go, instead looking at Daemon.
"So you think they'll be good here?" she asked him. Lucivar just rolled his eyes a bit. |
"I think they'll be fine," Daemon said. "They'll adjust quickly, and I doubt they will have any issues here." He shrugged a little. "I would be surprised if they did not fit well enough."
Lily just grinned and settled down, making sure everyone ordered some food. She didn't want to scare them off yet, after all. |
"Good," Heather replied. She stretched a bit and headed upstairs herself. Time to get comfortable and settle in.
After a few minutes, Clint got bored and started playing with a paperclip and a rubber band he found in his pocket. Robin just raised an eyebrow at him, and Clint quirked one in return, grinning cheekily. |
Daemon gave her a few minutes before he followed her up and knocked on her door. "Do you need anything?" he asked. Because having new people in the house was going to take a few days for everyone to adjust.
Lily laughed quietly. "I see you're also in the getting bored easily category," she said. "This is why I learned to make things." She pulled out a sheet of origami paper and folded it quickly and expertly into a crane, which she handed over to Clint. |
"I'm okay," Heather called back. "But thanks." She knew he was going to be a bit more protective than usual for a little while, until they all settled again.
Clint blinked. "What am I supposed to do with this?" He asked, picking up the crane. "Not that it's not kinda neat. Something Nat would like." |
Daemon nodded but didn't stray far anyway, tidying up a few things in his room. Tony and Charles both took a bit of time to settle in before Tony went around the house looking at all the tech he had to upgrade and debating how much he should bring over.
"Slingshot fodder, see if you can make it work," Lily said with a grin. She did quirk an eyebrow at him though. "Who's Nat?" |
Heather wandered her way out of her room at that point, Kaelas next to her as she headed downstairs again. She raised an eyebrow when she saw Tony back behind the TV.
"What are you up to?" she asked. "Natasha," Clint replied as he unfolded the crane and refolded it into a paper football. He grinned and used the rubber band to sling it at Robin. The puck raised an eyebrow, but flicked the football over towards Lily. |
"Checking," Tony said, his voice muffled. "How old is this thing?" He sounded disgruntled already.
Lily didn't pry about Natasha, instead just catching the little paper ball and flicking it back at Clint. She did have to pause when food landed on the table, though. |
"A few years," Heather replied warily, watching him wriggle back behind the tv. "Why?"
Clint grinned and set down his rubber band to dig into his food. Robin rolled his eyes, but started on his plate as well. Lucivar waited until Lily started before he did so himself. |
"Because it's offensive and I'm upgrading it." Tony's head poked out from the side. "I'll bring everything from the tower that I need, you don't have to do anything. Except marvel. Marveling at me is always good."
Lily smiled a little at Lucivar's familiar antics and started on her food, taking her time and enjoying. And maybe pushing a few extra pieces to Clint when he devoured his food. |
"The tv is fine," Heather protested. "It doesn't need upgrading."
Clint studied her briefly before accepting the little bits she was giving him. He was extending a lot of trust to her by doing that, and he knew it. But he also knew he had to get used to trusting her. |
"It does now." Tony looked at her for a moment before he ducked back behind the TV. "Get used to it."
Lily didn't realize, though, and just grinned. She liked taking care of Lucivar, and now her other two. |
"Tony, it's a perfectly good tv," Heather said. "Why do you feel the need to fiddle with it?"
|
"Because it is not up to Stark standards," Tony said. "And I can make it better." He emerged from behind the TV, dusting his hands off. "Once I get a few proper tools, anyway, and the parts I need."
|
"Tony..." Heather sighed. "You know you don't have to, right? I'd never make you do that."
|
"You didn't ask, I'm doing it anyway," Tony confirmed with a wave of his hand. "It's insulting to be in the presence of such lowly tech, you will get all the upgrades in this house so it's not so quiet. Although I won't install Jarvis if you don't want me to, your place so I'll let that one be your call."
|
Heather blinked.
"Wait, what?" she asked. "Speak English." |
Tony pulled out his phone. "J, say hi."
"Miss Heather," Jarvis greeted politely. "That's Jarvis." Tony grinned. |
Heather blinked.
"I thought that was just a rumor," she said after a moment. Then she paused. "Wait a second. You want to install that here?" |
