"I think it's hard to tell him no," Alissa said with a bit of a grin. "Bucky can't seem to either."
"At least it's not just me," Taylor said. "I've already told him about cell phones, the internet, and fun little gadgety things."
"That's not too bad, nothing about him," Alissa said with a nod. "As long as you aren't telling him things he doesn't need to know."
"Who doesn't need to know what?" Steve asked as he walked in to the lab. Alissa jumped. |
"Steve," Taylor squeaked in surprise. "I thought you were still in the debrief."
"No, we're done," Steve said. "Figured you could use some coffee by now, maybe some fresh air."
Taylor had to pause at that. Going outside certainly sounded appealing, and she glanced at Alissa to see what her friend wanted to do.
Alissa shrugged. "Might as well," she agreed, getting up.
Steve nodded and pulled Taylor's chair out for her, smiling a bit. |
Taylor smiled a bit in return, blushing just slightly when he pulled her chair out for her.
"Thanks," she said. |
Steve nodded and started walking with her. "Anything exciting happen while we were away?" he asked. "Howard blow anything up?"
Alissa just trailed along after them, giving them a bit of room. |
"Himself, almost, but nothing else, really," Taylor said. She grinned a bit. "But it was Science and not Screwing Around because he wrote it all down."
Steve grinned at that. "Yeah, Howard always insists it's not Fun because it's Science but he has fun with his science." He shook his head fondly.
"Sounds familiar," Taylor mused absently, thinking back to everything she heard from within SI about Tony Stark.
"Oh? Have you met or heard of Howard in your time?" Steve asked, keeping the question light. He'd noticed that sometimes she got cagey if he asked too much.
"Heard of, yes," Taylor said. That, at least, she could say with complete honesty. "Never met him in my time, though." Also completely true.
Steve nodded and let the subject drop for the moment as he got them some coffee and then headed outside.
"So, do I get to look forward to seeing you again, when you go back to your normal time?" |
"I--" Taylor paused. She hadn't thought about that before. "I think I'd like that. I mean-- as long as it's okay with you."
Steve smiled slowly. "I would like that," he agreed. "I look forward to it."
Taylor smiled.
"Well, it was September, when we were in our time last," she said. "The ninth or so, I think." |
"September of 2014," Steve said with a grin. "Good." He was definitely going to remember that, because he planned to see her again, definitely.
Taylor grinned, turning faintly pink.
"Well, if you want dates," she said, a bit teasingly, "the year I was born is 1989." |
"What date?" Steve asked with a bit of a grin in return, because he would remember all of this when he found her again.
"May," Taylor replied after a moment. "May 16. But I'm not telling you where, alright? Because that would just be kind of weird."
"No, I wasn't going to ask," Steve said, holding up his hands. "I just thought that I should know when you birthday is, in case I'm around for your next one."
"Well, like I said, it's May 16," Taylor said. She grinned. "Is yours really the fourth of July?"
Steve blushed a little at that and ducked his head. "Yeah. Buck always teases me about that."
