"Comfortable. Right." Jackie eyed the living room. It was huge and sprawling and there were plenty of places to sit.
There were also plenty of superheroes. |
Cat looked around as well, now a bit nervous. She'd definitely never been so close to so many famous people before.
Jackie cautiously moved over to the kitchen to put down her offering of baked goods.
Cat cautiously poked around the huge living room, absently rubbing the words on her left wrist with her thumb. She had no idea she was even doing it as she tried to get used to the huge place.
The others gave the two a bit of space, although it didn't take long at all for people to start jostling Clint and hinting not so subtly that he should introduce the girls.
Clint just rolled his eyes.
"Honestly, guys, it's not like Jarvis didn't beat me to the punch already," he pointed out when Nat elbowed him in the ribs. |
"Still, manners," Tony said with a grin that implied he knew something about manners. "Introduce me to your quite lovely soulmates, Hawkass."
Jackie choked on air and turned red trying not to laugh. |
"Raised by carnies," Clint pointed out cheerfully, grinning.
Cat was biting her lip to keep from laughing. "Anyways, this is Jackie and Cat," Clint continued. |
"This is Nat," Clint said, grinning at the redhead. "And Tony, Steve, Sam, Bruce, Thor, various assorted people." He grinned. "The normal crowd."
Jackie nodded to everyone, looking more interested than scared now. |
Cat was still a bit awed, and she just waved her hand a bit, not even caring that she was exposing the writing on her wrist.
Jackie was kind of happy when food arrived, because then no one really paid her much attention. Instead there was a mass exodus to the kitchen for food.
Cat hung back with Jackie.
"This is so weird," she murmured. "I never, ever thought we'd find ourselves here. This is not something normal people get to do." |
"No kidding," Jackie murmured. "Although are we really normally? I mean, we've got an Avenger as a soulmate."
"This is true," Cat replied, nodding. She rubbed at the last, still-unknown writing on her wrist. "I only hope my last match can handle that."
"No kidding." Jackie rubbed just above her left knee, where her last set of words were.
Cat glanced towards where the others all went.
"Think we should go and see if there's anything left?" she asked. |
"Probably. We were promised food, after all." Jackie made her way into the kitchen. There was still food, just not as much of it.
Cat followed her, glancing around as they went into the kitchen. She could feel the others look at her as she walked in, but she ignored it in favor of investigating the food.
"About time," Clint teased, grinning. |
"We had to wait for the hoard to move first," Jackie said dryly, shaking her head.
Steve shot a look at Natasha, because he knew the writing on Cat's arm. He'd know it anywhere. |
Natasha just met Steve's eyes calmly and gave a tiny nod. Yes, she knew that handwriting as well. And wasn't that an interesting development?
Steve nodded a little. He was a little anxious to see how Bucky reacted to her; he still hadn't had too much of a chance to interact with normal people yet.
"Maybe you should take him dinner?" Natasha suggested softly. She knew Bucky was in his room; he'd taken refuge there in anticipation of the girls arriving.
Steve nodded and stood, going to make a plate and take it to Bucky, and see if he couldn't entice him out. He'd seen some home-baked goodies on the counter, after all.
Natasha watched him go, and then went to see what Clint was doing. Hopefully, he wasn't boring those poor girls to death yet, or tempting them with bone-headed stunts already.
Clint just grinned when he saw Natasha. He was just keeping the girls company, really. "Hey, Nat. Finally decided to come say hi?" he teased.
