"I decided you've gone long enough without adult supervision," Natasha teased in return with a small smile. She settled herself gracefully on the couch.
|
Clint snorted. "These two are practically adults," he said with a grin. He knew that Nat knew which one was which already.
|
"You need someone more experienced to keep an eye on you," Natasha said. She glanced at the girls and quirked a grin. "He binge-watched New Who because of you."
|
Jackie's eyes went wide at that and she went utterly still, because holy crap other soulmate.
"I absolutely do not regret that, New Who is awesome," she said after a moment of silence, starting to grin. |
Natasha smiled just a little. Well, that made things interesting.
Cat blinked. "You lucky bitch," she murmured to Jackie. She nudged her friend. "I'll let you hash this one out, I'm going to go explore." |
"Go for it. I'll yell if I need saving." Jackie grinned. She had the feeling she wouldn't need it, though.
Steve had managed to coax Bucky out of his room and the two of them emerged from the elevator, Bucky looking around and spotting the two newcomers immediately. |
Cat saw them as soon as the doors opened. She'd been introduced to Steve, of course, but everyone who'd had a history class since practically 1980 would have known the other face.
"Hey," she said to Steve, nodding in greeting. Then she turned her attention to the other man and smiled a bit. "You must be Barnes." |
Bucky blinked, because surely that must be a coincidence. "Who are you?" he asked, not hostile, mostly just curious.
|
That made Cat's heart leap into her throat, and it took her a moment to reply.
"My name is Catrina," she said, trying to keep her voice from shaking too much. She held up her arm to show the handwriting on her wrist. "Does this look familiar?" |
Bucky nodded slowly, his eyes on the handwriting, his handwriting, on her skin. He missed the smug grin Steve shot Natasha, too busy looking at his newly found soulmate.
|
"I bet you've got mine somewhere," Cat said softly, watching him. She rubbed the words on her wrist with her fingers.
Natasha just gave a small grin. |
Bucky turned and pulled up the back of his shirt so she could see the writing there. He didn't care; everyone else here had seen him shirtless at least once before.
Steve glanced at Jackie and back to Natasha, and then raised an eyebrow, still grinning. |
Cat would know her own handwriting anywhere. Carefully, she reached out and gently touched the words.
"Yeah," she murmured, "those are mine." |
Bucky shivered just a little and looked at her over his shoulder.
"Well," he drawled, "nice to finally meet you, doll." |
Cat couldn't help but smile and turn a bit pink.
"Sorry to keep you waiting," she replied. |
"So, you're one of the two that clown brought?" He jerked a thumb at Clint.
|
Cat nodded.
"Yeah," she said. "I have three marks, and he's one of them. Jackie is another, and you're the third." |
Bucky nodded. "In that case, I'm glad he talked you into coming."
|
"So am I," Cat replied. She smiled a bit. "I'm glad you were here at the same time."
|
Bucky smiled a bit. "Have you eaten yet?" he asked, glancing around. Most everyone was still working on their food, after all.
|
"I-- A little?" Cat said. "I got a bit distracted, and I was giving Jackie some space to get used to Clint and Natasha at the same time."
|
"Wait, what?" Bucky blinked at that, because clearly more context was needed. He did move over to a couple chairs, motioning for her to sit.
|
Cat couldn't help but grin a little.
"Apparently Jackie's three marks are me, Clint, and Natasha," she said, sitting down next to him. |
"Clint and Natasha?" Bucky shook his head with a little grin. "Either she's really lucky, or really unlucky." His grin grew when Natasha flipped him off without looking at him.
|
Cat grinned when she saw that.
"She'll be fine," she said. "It'll be fun to watch, because I don't think she and Clint are strictly platonic." |
