"Well, stop in again whenever you like," Gemma said. She smiled a little. "And let me know how that spell works for you."
"I definitely will," Steve said with a smile. "Thank you again. I'll come by again soon."
"I'll look forward to it," Gemma said. She blinked when she realized how that sounded, but she didn't take it back.
Steve smiled at that. "Until next time, then." He turned and headed for the door, already looking forward to the next visit.
"See you then," Gemma said. She closed the door behind him, and then just stood there in the shop for a moment. For some reason, she didn't feel the need to cleanse the space again. She kind of liked the feeling of his presence there.
Steve found himself smiling all the way back to the tower. He was kind of looking forward to his next visit with her.
Sam saw him when he got back.
"You look pleased about something," he commented. "Something happen?" |
"I went and saw Gemma," Steve said with a little shrug. "We talked for a while. She's nice, I like talking to her."
"Really?" Sam asked, interested. He could have sworn that the girl didn't like them. "What did you talk about?"
"Magic, mostly. The kind that's not being used against us." Steve fished the sticker out of his pocket. "She gave me this to try, see if it helps the punching bags hold together longer."
Sam looked at it, then tilted his head to see if it would make any more sense from a different angle.
"What is it?" he asked. "What's it supposed to do?" |
"It's supposed to keep from breaking the punching bag, or at least delay the process." Steve grinned. "I'm supposed to test it and see how well it really holds up."
Sam blinked.
"Wait, that's something that will bend the laws of physics?" he asked. He grinned. "Do you have any idea how awesome that is?" |
Steve grinned. "I know how much Tony is going to flail and curse," he said, which was just as good, in his opinion.
That made Sam laugh outright.
"That too," he agreed. "That'll be something to watch. Let me know when that one happens." |
"You'll be the first to know." Steve grinned.
"Oh, is Bucky back yet?" |
"Not yet," Sam replied, shaking his head a bit. "I kind of thought you were going to go get him, but obviously not, so he'll probably make his own way back."
"I was but apparently he went and got coffee with the dragon-lady a few hours ago." Steve grinned like a proud parent. "He likes her."
"That's good," Sam said. "He needs someone outside of the tower to connect with."
Steve nodded. "Guessing by his sneaking out, I'd say he connected fine with her." He grinned. "Doesn't mean I won't tease him a bit."
Sam nodded, grinning a bit. The teasing would be good for Bucky, especially coming from someone he knew he could trust.
Steve went to go sprawl out on the couch until Bucky got back, turning on a game for him and Sam to watch.
Bucky did end up getting back a little while later, coming in quietly and making sure the door was closed behind him. He was a bit surprised to see Sam and Steve waiting up for him.
"Have fun?" Steve asked, looking over at him with a grin that said he knew exactly where Bucky had been and who he'd been with.
"Depends on what you define as fun," Bucky replied, raising an eyebrow a bit.
