Kenzie grinned as she got out of the car, bouncing a little.

"What's the rush?" Tony asked as he got out of the other car. Natasha had lost the race by a hair.

"I figured you would all prefer to get settled in before anything else." Kenzie grinned, her eyes bright. Clearly she was excited.

Clint looked around as he got out of the car as well. The area they were in was uncomfortably familiar, and he hoped the others didn't notice.

"I'll get them settled," Gemma said, nudging Kenzie. "You go stretch your wings a bit."

Kenzie pouted a bit, because she was a dragon and she was a touch vain. She kind of liked seeing people gape at her when she went from five foot seven to over a hundred feet.

Gemma just rolled her eyes, grinned a bit, and gestured to the others.

"Might want to give her some space," she advised them, backing away herself.

The rest of the group backed up, looking a bit confused.

Grinning, Kenzie stretched, and the stretch seemed to go on and on as she lengthened and changed, scales replacing skin. After a few moments, she shook her head, bright gold cat-slitted eyes looking at her group, while dark green and copper scales glinted in the sun. Little tiny flecks of gold were visible throughout her scales.

Tony felt his jaw drop, and he knew he wasn't the only one.

Gemma just grinned a bit when she saw everyone else's reactions.

"Yeah, it's like that the first time," she said.

"I don't believe what I'm seeing," Clint said, a bit thinly. Bucky just nodded in agreement, though he seemed to be taking it better than anyone else but Thor.

Thor nodded. "You are indeed magnificent," he told Kenzie.

Thank you, Kenzie told Thor, inclining her head a little. She spread her wings out and flapped them a bit, enjoying the stretch. Then she looked down at her hoard and assorted sort of hoard, highly amused.

Gemma just grinned a bit.

"Alright, I'll get everyone settled," she said. She nudged Steve and gestured to the car. "Come on, there's a little cabin just inside the tree line that should fit everyone."

Steve shook himself a bit and nodded, going to go grab bags. "Bucky," he called, trying to get his friend to move again.

Tony shook himself and started to walk around her, muttering to himself. Bruce quickly joined in the Science discussion.

It took Bucky a moment to shake himself out of it, but once he did, he followed Steve to go get the bags.

Clint stared at Kenzie for a moment longer before determinedly marching over to her and promptly started climbing up her side. He needed to investigate.

Kenzie rumbled with laughter. Watch your footing, she told him. Until you get used to my scales I can be difficult to climb.

Steve let Gemma lead the way, just carrying bags in and still kind of trying to wrap his head around the huge dragon one of his teammates was now climbing.

That made Clint jump, and he clung to Kenzie's scales while he tried to stop his heart from racing.

"Christ, don't do that," he said. "You can talk in my head? Since when?"

Gemma unlocked the cabin, opening the door and going inside. The inside of the cabin was dark, but there was no dust or dirt anywhere.

"Put the bags down by the door," she said as she made her way over to the hearth. She used her cell phone for some light. "We'll need some firewood before I can get this lit."

Since you are mine, Kenzie replied, highly amused. Do be careful, please.

"I can get the firewood," Steve offered, setting down the bags. "Do you have a pile already, or do I need to go chop some?"

"'M fine," Clint said as he clung to Kenzie's scales. After a moment, he started climbing again.

"Check out back," Gemma said, flicking off her phone again to save the battery. She conjured a small, gently glowing light instead, cradling it in her hand. "I'm going to find the lamps."

Kenzie didn't move, letting him climb up. Better? she asked once he was up on her back.

Steve nodded, not even bothered by the little light. He headed out around back to check for firewood, working on chopping enough to start a fire.

"This is crazy," Clint said as he stood up and looked around. He inspected everything he could about her, as well, running his fingers over scales and ridges and edges.

Gemma went around, casting more lights and slipping them into little glass bubbles that were hanging around the room. The makeshift lamps shone steadily.

Kenzie rumbled with laughter, though she was careful not to move lest she dislodge him.

I have had bonded who enjoyed flying with me, she said, a touch wistfully. We could go for hours and hours, talking and flying, bound to no one else. It was a nice way to live, from time to time.

"Nice," Steve commented when he brought in an armload of firewood. "I like it. Cozy." He grinned at Gemma.

"It sounds like it," Clint said, making his way up between her wings. He poked around a bit, investigating some more.

Gemma turned around and paused when she saw how much firewood he was holding. Wow, yeah, okay, she really kind of liked the display of brute strength, even if it was unintentional. She felt her face heating up slightly, and looked away quickly.

"Just put it by the hearth," she said, pointing in the general direction of the hearth. "I'll start a fire in a bit."

Kenzie obligingly shifted one wing, half-spreading it so he could investigate more fully.

Be careful, she said, her voice not quite cautioning. My wings are a little more fragile. Not so fragile you can't touch, and I doubt you could do unintentional harm, but all the same.

Steve set the wood down, setting up the fireplace for her before sitting back on his heels. "Anything else you need done?" he asked.

"I doubt any of you can be considered 'fragile,'" Clint replied, grinning a bit. He made his way over to her wing joint, by the shoulder, and ran his fingers over the scales there. They were much softer than the rest, and he couldn't resist petting them a bit.

"Nothing that I can think of," Gemma replied, still a bit pink. "Go ahead and settle in."

Kenzie rumbled again and settled down, just letting him explore. She didn't mind the petting. She couldn't feel it well, but she could feel enough to know what he was doing.

Steve nodded and settled in, making sure everything was set up alright for them all to stay the night. He figured a few of them would have to sleep in the living room, which was alright with him.

"You look like you want to go back outside," he said quietly to Bucky, half of his attention on his friend, the other half still on Gemma.

Gemma slipped in and out of the other rooms of the cabin, magically cleansing the space and trying to figure out how many people could comfortably share each room.

"Cabin's small," Bucky murmured, still fidgeting a bit. He flexed his metal hand a few times.

"Go on," Steve said, giving him a bit of a nudge. "Go back outside and play with Kenzie." He shot Bucky a teasing grin.

Bucky raised an eyebrow.

"So you can keep eyeballing your girl?" he asked, smirking just a bit.

"I'm helping," Steve said primly. "Unlike you." He grinned. "But if I'm helping in eyesight, doesn't hurt."
