Indeed. I find myself certain that we will be doing this again. Kenzie sounded amused.
"Told you so," Cormick muttered to Clint with an easy grin. |
"I look forward to the day," Thor said, managing to squirm out from under her head and get up. He brushed himself off and gave her eyebrow ridges a few scratches.
"Shut up," Clint muttered back. |
Kenzie hummed happily at that. May I call you friend? she asked rather formally. It was more than just being friendly and an offer of another spar; it was a peace between them as well as an implied offer of aid should he ever need it.
Cormick just grinned. "Dessert, anyone?" |
"It would be my honor," Thor replied with a grin. "May I you?"
"You shouldn't skunk people out of money like that, Mr. Cormick," Gemma chided teasingly as she headed back inside. The excitement was over, for now. "It's not nice. Clint had no idea." |
I would be greatly pleased, Kenzie said, sounding pleased even. She nudged him once, gently, before she stretched a bit. I believe I will stay out here for a while longer, if you wished to join the others.
"Hey, he started it," Cormick said with a grin. "Not my fault." Even if he had known he was going to sucker Clint out of some money. |
"Aye, I think I might," Thor said, nodding. He gave her one last scratch on her eye ridges, and then headed inside with the others.
Gemma just rolled her eyes at that. |
Steve just shook his head a bit, settling in next to Gemma for now. He figured they wouldn't stay too much later at Cormick's, but they also still had the whole next day before they went back to the city.
|
Unconsciously, Gemma leaned against him a bit, relaxing with him.
Natasha noticed, and gave Steve a bit of a Look, raising an eyebrow a bit. |
Steve shook his head slightly, just settling in there for the moment.
|
The night would down after dessert, and Gemma ended up making a few promises to come back the next day and see what she could do around the farm as thanks for having the group over for the meal. She wasn't much for actual manual labor, but there were some spells and enchantments that she periodically checked on and renewed for the couple that she knew needed some attention.
|
By the time they were all ready to go, Steve was still sticking close to Gemma, and Kenzie was waiting for them.
"So, are we all piling on the dragon again tonight?" Steve asked with a little grin. |
"If you feel like it," Gemma replied. She grinned. "Personally, I'm going to set myself up a good spot on the grass. It's supposed to be lovely and clear tonight."
|
"That should be nice," Steve agreed. "Get a chance to look at the stars." Which was something he hadn't done in a while.
|
Gemma only hesitated for a moment.
"If you like," she said, "I could set up a spot for you too?" She turned just a bit pink as she said it. |
Steve smiled slowly. "That would be very nice. Thank you."
|
"My pleasure," Gemma said, still a bit pink.
|
Steve grinned and let her pick the spot once they got back.
Kenzie settled into almost the same spot as the night before, watching everyone but not trying to pull anyone over. |
Bucky was going to go find Steve and see what his plans were, once they got back to their 'campsite'. When he saw Steve with Gemma, though, he stopped. He hadn't expected his friend to have other plans. So he went back over and settled in next to Kenzie, though he was definitely in more of a brooding mood now.
|
Kenzie nudged him a bit. What's troubling you? she asked him gently.
|
Bucky was quiet for a minute or so.
"I'm not sure," he finally said. He glanced at Steve, and then looked down again. |
Kenzie rumbled a bit. He is spending quite a bit of time with Gemma, she noted. I believe he may be interested in courting her. Which Kenzie was still on the fence about, but she thought that Gemma would accept him.
|
"Courting?" Bucky asked, blinking. It took him a second to parse the word. "You think he's sweet on her?"
|
Something like that, yes. Kenzie found herself amused at the slang. Aw, he was so cute, with his 40s Brooklyn slang and accent.
|
Bucky studied the two again.
"She's not his type," he finally said. "Why would he be sweet on her?" |
It's hard to say, Kenzie said. You may never know unless you ask him. She shifted a bit to lay her head down next to him.
