"Aw, that's so sweet! Astor is adorable!" Feliciano exclaimed. He gave the dog another kiss before popping up again as if he were made of springs, not ligaments. "Were you taking him on a walk? Can I feed him pasta? Do dogs like pasta?" He paused, pondering his own question. Maybe if it had meatballs in it? Dogs liked meatballs for sure, but he wasn't sure about spaghetti. Maybe he would just give that to Ludwig.
"Yes, no you can not, and no." Ludwig responded in the order of Feliciano's questions. He wasn't sure whether or not dogs liked pasta, but he was pretty sure it would be a bad idea to fit it to him. Most people food were bad for dogs, after all. He didn't want his new dog to get sick after he just got him. He was going to take very good care of him.
Feliciano's brow furrowed as he tried to make sense of which answer went with which question, even though Ludwig always did this to him. He rocked back on his heels with a smile. "Can I make you pasta then? I found a new seasoning yesterday and I want to try it out. I want to make enough for like, twenty people!"
Ludwig was silent for a moment, thinking. While pasta wasn't his favorite food, Feliciano was an excellent cook. And it would be a free meal, so he couldn't complain about that, right? "Ja, you can make some for me." he told him. "But why would you want to make enough for twenty people?" he asked. While that part sounded like something the other would do, if just seemed a bit wasteful to him. Especially if it was only going to be the two of the eating.
Feliciano pressed a finger to his lips and hummed as he thought. Well, he didn't really have a reason for wanting to make so much pasta except he wanted to share it with everyone. "You can take some home to your brother too and I'll leave some at home and won't it be so much fun to share it with lots of people?" he asked. Maybe the dog couldn't eat any, but he was sure he could find a hungry person in need of good pasta.
"Ja.. I suppose so. Make as much as you want." Ludwig told him. Though he already knew that Feliciano was going to make as much as he wanted. Plus bringing some home would help for a couple meals at least. Speaking of his brother though, he was reminded of how the albino had acted last night. He wanted to ask for the other's advice in the matter, but wasn't sure of the correct way to bring the topic up.
Feliciano nodded, already planning his pasta extravaganza in his head. When he realized he'd been staring off into space for a minute, he shook himself and grabbed Ludwig's hand. "Let's walk under the trees, kay?" Oblivious as he always was, he didn't realize Ludwig was thinking about something, but he had a different sort of sixth sense, something that told him that moving around would be good, like it would free their mouths for conversation.
"Alright.." Ludwig agreed, feeling that was kind of sudden considering their conversation. He started walking, gently tugging Astor's leash so that the dog would follow. Said dog in question walked ahead of them, weaving across the path, sniffing everything. Ludwig was silent for a moment, thinking as he watched Astor.
They were very quiet and Feliciano didn't know how to deal with that. He followed the dog some, weaving with Astor and inspecting the same things he sniffed. "Isn't it surprising your brother got a dog?" he asked after a bit. "He's so cute, but I didn't know you guys were planning on getting one!"
"I didn't know we were planning to get one. I just got home from school yesterday and he was waiting on my bed." Ludwig explained. He smiled slightly at the memory of that. "Gilbert didn't make much sense when he was explaining about why he got one. It was really unexpected."
That did sound unexpected, but Feliciano wished someone would do that with him, except maybe with a cat. He loved how cute they were! "Eh...but doesn't he not make sense a lot?" he asked. Feliciano didn't really mind or notice, but he'd heard Ludwig say so before. "Maybe he just really, really wanted a dog and thought it was cute and brought him home!"
"Maybe.." Ludwig agreed. It did seem like something Gilbert would do. "He just seemed a bit off last night. Said something about some guy. Didn't say who, but I'm guessing it was someone from the shelter. It just didn't make much sense is all." That part of the conversation with his brother was a bit confusing.
"Eh?!" Feliciano paused and looked back at Ludwig. That did sound a little odd. "Do you think he's fighting with a friend? You should tell him to hurry up and make up with the guy! Or-!" he gasped with an idea before he clapped his hands. "We should go offer this guy some pasta to make up for it! I've never met any of Gilbert's friends."
"Neither have I.. I'm not sure this guy is a friend though, considering the way he was speaking about him. Though if he is a friend of Gilbert's, it would make what he said last night make a lot more sense." Ludwig said, thinking hard about this. He was sure that his brother did have friends, whether he denied it or not. And if he had gotten into a fight with one of them, then his words would be more understandable. The only way to find out would be to talk to whoever this guy is.
"Let's go find us a friend!" Feliciano made a mock salute then dashed off a few feet before he realized he didn't know which way he was going. He came back and grabbed Ludwig's hand again. "Um...vee...Do you know where we can find him? He'll like pasta right? Because I don't know how to make much of anything else." And how could he bring about a happy ending without food?
Ludwig watched Feliciano run off and shook his head with fond exasperation. "Well, Gilbert was talking about the shelter when he mentioned the guy, so we should start there. And I'm sure he'll like pasta. Most people do." he said, assuring him on the last part. He held onto the other's hand as he started walking towards the animal shelter.
Since the day was nice and walking hand and hand with Ludwig always made everyday better, it felt like it didn't take long to find a place that looked about right. Astor started wagging his tail at the door and barked, very excited to go in. Feliciano skipped inside and went right up to the desk. "Hi there! I'm looking for a guy!" He paused. "Ludsy, who am I looking for?" he asked with a blank expression.
Matthew was working at the counter when two guys came in with a dog. A dog he recognized as one he sold yesterday. But neither or the men were the ones who bought him. The shorter of the two came straight up and started talking to him. The taller man sighed and stood next to him.
"Hello. My brother was in here yesterday to buy this dog. We would like to speak to the person who sold him to him." the man said. "That would be me." Matthew told them, confused. |
Feliciano let out one of his biggest smiles and leaned way across the counter to grab the blonde's hand and shake it. "Hi! I'm Feliciano, but you can call me Feli. This is Ludsy...I mean, Ludwig," he added with a quick glance at the taller man. He forgot his name wasn't the cute nickname he gave him. "Are you Gilbert's friend?"
Matthew was even more confused by the man's, whose name was apparently Feliciano, actions. He could see the tall blond glare slightly at the shorter man when he tried to introduce him by a nickname. "Gilbert? You mean the albino?" he asked, happy to have his name, but still upset with him.
"Ja. That's right." Ludwig stated. "We are definitely not friends. I would never been friends with someone who was such a huge asshole as your brother." Matthew stated, his tone both annoyed and angry. |
"Eh?" Feliciano said, pulling back to hide at Ludwig's side. He thought for sure he got this right. His eyes squinted shut all the way as he thought, not that his eyes normally opened farther than necessary to see. "Ludsy, if he wasn't fighting with a friend, then why was your brother so upset?" He was surely missing a few pieces of the puzzle, which tended to happen a lot.
"I don't know, Feli." Ludwig told him, reaching over to pat the other on the head reassuringly. This was definitely the guy his brother was upset over, but if they weren't friends, then why? He didn't know the answer.
"He was upset?" Matthew asked, concerned. Then realizing what he'd asked, made his face be indifferent. He kept telling himself he didn't care, but he knew that was a lie. |
"Vee," Feliciano answered. "And he bought a dog!" He wasn't sure why that was significant, but it was. Because Gilbert didn't normally bring random animals of that size into the home, at least not that Feliciano knew of. But most of what he knew about the older brother came from Ludwig. He tugged Ludwig's sleeve with a tilt of his head. "Can I still invite him over for pasta even if they're not friends? Pasta makes upset people happy."
Ludwig sighed. "Do what you want." he informed the Italian. He was trying to figure out why Gilbert would be upset over this guy. The only way to really know would be to see them interact.
Matthew was confused by their conversation and why they would think he was friends with the albino. That man had made it very clear he wanted nothing to do with the blond, let alone be his friend. |
"Do you have any paper?" Feliciano asked suddenly. He knew he didn't have a lot of sense, but he could make people smile so that was what he intended to do. "And ehm...did you say your name?" It was going to be very hard inviting someone he didn't know to dinner.
