"Lei!" Diana rushed in and hugged her sister. "I was worried about you. Are you alright?"
"That's still really weird," Bucky muttered to Steve, low enough so the girls wouldn't hear. "Same face. Same voice." |
"I'm okay," Leia said, returning the hug. "A bit freaked out, but otherwise good."
"I know," Steve muttered. "They smell just a little different, though." Fortunately, or else he'd never be able to tell them apart if they wore the same clothes. |
"Oh I am so freaked out about this," Diana agreed, nodding. "Did they feed you the same nonsense they gave me? About being kidnapped and everything?"
"Only slightly," Bucky agreed. "Just enough." |
"Drugged, kidnapped, brought about a spaceship and apparently we're royalty now." Leia shrugged. "Yeah, I got that bullshit story too."
Steve nodded, watching the two. "They don't believe us still," he murmured, sounding monumentally unsurprised. |
"Well, we are on a space ship," Diana pointed out. "And I don't know about you, but I woke up feeling pretty drugged."
"At least sort of," Bucky agreed, nodding. |
"Okay, yeah, agreed on that part, I have seen out the windows," Leia conceded. "But the royalty bit? Where did that come from?" She shook her head. "I don't believe that."
"Maybe Thor will convince them," Steve muttered. Because they weren't doing the best job of it. |
"Okay, that I have no idea," Diana admitted. "But they seemed to believe it."
"You'd sic him on them already?" Bucky asked. "I'd give 'em a whole day, at least." |
"Yeah." Leia frowned. "Which is weird. This whole thing is just... bizarre."
"Well, it'll take him a day to get here," Steve pointed out. "So they've got a bit of time." |
"Definitely," Diana said, nodding. She sat down next to her sister, leaning on her shoulder.
"True," Bucky said. He looked at Steve. "Did you contact him? Or did Tony? Or not yet?" |
Leia stayed close to her, just trying to relax for now.
"Tony did," Steve said. "Thor's busy right now, but sometime tomorrow or the next day he'll be around." |
Bucky nodded.
"Alright," he said. "Then we'll just prep for his arrival and hope for the best." |
Steve snorted quietly at that because the girls weren't going to be easy to convince.
But he did give them the rest of the night to adjust, and once they were awake again he took a tablet in with him to help explain some things. |
Diana slept lightly all night, and always awake by the time the door opened. She looked over at him as he came in.
|
"Hey," Steve said quietly. "Have you two eaten yet? I can bring you some food." Or make Bucky do it while he explained.
Leia shook her head wordlessly, frowning a little. |
Diana shook her head as well. Actually food sounded pretty good. She gave him a bit of a sideways glance.
"It's not going to be bland nutrient mush like out of the Matrix, is it?" she asked warily. |
"...I don't understand what you're referring to, but no, it's definitely not bland mush. It's real food." Steve shook his head. "Why would we eat bland mush? That just sounds disgusting."
|
Diana blinked.
"You've... never seen The Matrix?" she asked. "Really?" |
"I still have no idea what you're talking about," Steve said, looking a little confused.
|
Diana just looked at him for a moment.
"You know what," she finally said. "Never mind. It's not important." |
"Okay," Steve agreed. He leaned out of the room a bit. "Hey, Buck, get the ladies some food, would ya?"
|
"I'm not your minion, Steve!" Bucky called back, even as he went to go see what he could find for them.
|
Steve smirked and stayed in the room. "Anything else we can get you to make you more comfortable?" he asked, glancing between the two.
|
Diana glanced at her sister and then back to Steve.
"I... think this is as close to comfortable as it's possible for us to get," she said. "At least right now." |
Steve nodded and set the tablet-thing on a little table in the center of the room. "Alright. I figured it might help you two to learn a little bit about all of this." He made a vague gesture. "So, this is the family you are part of." Holographic images of Odin, Frigga, Thor, and Loki appeared.
|
Diana leaned in a bit, staring at the hologram.
"I need to know how that thing works," she said, leaning from side to side to see if it was really three-dimensional. "That shouldn't be possible." |
