"I told you to get out earlier," Logan pointed out. He could take care of his own damn self out in the wilderness for a couple of days just fine, thank you. "Coulda gone with Stark."

"I had to make sure the kids were out," Sabine replied stubbornly. "Besides, roughing it overnight is not exactly the worst thing I've done." She managed a grin. "At least I'm pretty sure I won't get eaten by a bear."

Logan snorted.

"No bears out here," he agreed. "Have t' get a lot further out from people than this."

"True," Sabine agreed. "Alright, lumberjack, where are we setting up for the night?" She glanced over at him with a little grin.

"Workin' on it," Logan replied as he investigated the area some. Finally, he went and tugged her arm a little. "This way. Stay close."

"Yes, because I'm going to go wandering off into the woods on my own in the middle of the night," Sabine muttered sarcastically. But she did grab onto the back of his shirt with one hand so she wouldn't lose him.

Logan snorted and just kept walking until he found a good spot for them to settle for the night.

"Here's good," he said as he stopped. "We should settle in until morning."

"Lovely." Sabine eyed the ground for a moment before she shrugged and sat down. "Well, definitely could be worse." She pulled her knees up to her chest to keep herself warm.

Logan rolled his eyes and stripped off his overshirt, draping it over her shoulders. He'd definitely put up with worse than a bit of nighttime chill.

"Oi! What are you doing?" Sabine glowered a little at him. "You'll get cold, and yes I know how long you've been alive and some of what you've lived through, but you'll still get cold."

"I'll be fine," Logan replied, leaning back against a tree in just his jeans and the tight undershirt tee. "I've lived through worse. This is nothing."

"You are stubborn," Sabine said with a little huff. But she did give in and tug the overshirt a little more snugly around herself. She muttered something under her breath along the lines of "it's a good thing you're hot".

Logan couldn't help but smirk at that.

"I heard that, darlin'," he said. "Might not be able to see in the dark, but there's nothing wrong with my hearing."

"What? I don't know what you're talking about. You must have heard something else." Sabine hid her blush behind his shirt. Whoops.

"If you say so," Logan replied, still smirking a bit. He wasn't going to push about it, not at the moment.

Sabine huffed at him again but didn't say anything else for a while.

"What do you think they wanted?" she finally asked, after several long minutes of quiet.

"No clue," Logan replied after a moment. "Coulda been anything. Danger Room tech. Hank's research. Or they coulda just been wackos from the anti-mutant movement."

Sabine made a face. "At least everyone got out," she muttered. "Could have been worse." She paused. "We could send Stark back in, he could annoy them all to death without even lifting a finger."

"Who says anyone'd need to send 'im?" Logan pointed out with a smirk. "Kid's likely to head back in on all his own."

Sabine made a so-so motion. "Maybe, maybe not. If he was sure Cam and the kids were safe, I think he would. But he's kind of big on protecting people, too, so he might stay with them."

"Cam can look after the kids," Logan pointed out. "Elsewise Chuck wouldn't have left her in charge. Kid knows that."

"Stark is also not entirely rational, not when it comes to people," Sabine pointed out. "Especially people he likes."

Logan raised an eyebrow.

"You seein' somethin' I'm not?" he asked. "Stark never passes up the chance to humiliate his opponents."

"True, I have seen this before," Sabine agreed. "However, he is sometimes a big fan of the whole 'revenge is best served cold' ideology. Especially when his people are the targets, or the ones in danger. He's a little bit rabidly overprotective of whoever he considers 'his people'."

"I'd put even money on him goin' straight back to clear out the mansion," Logan replied. "But you could be right."
