"I'd take that bet." Sabine grinned. "Although currently all I have to wager is a pair of damp socks, so we might have to put a rain check on that."

Logan snorted.

"We'll see," he said. "For now, try to get some rest, you'll be miserable in the morning if you don't."

Sabine grumped at him and shuffled over a bit to lean against the same tree as him.

"And I suppose you're not going to sleep because you're a lumberjack and you've done a lot worse than pull an all-nighter."

"I'm gonna keep watch," Logan replied. "I can probably pull an all-nighter easier'n you can, and I can fend off anythin' that thinks it can tangle with us."

"Okay, yeah, you're better at fending things off, not gonna argue there." Sabine smiled a little. "Still stubborn, though."

"Deal with it," Logan replied. "See if you can get some rest. We'll find our way in the morning."

Sabine grumbled at him one more time before she let her eyes close. It didn't take her long to fall asleep.

Of course, it didn't take her long to wake up, either, with the sunlight in her eyes. She groaned at that.

"Mornin'," Logan greeted when he heard her waking up. "Sleep well enough?"

"Well enough," Sabine agreed, cracking her eyes open. "I'm guessing nothing gave you any trouble." She sat up and straightened out carefully.

"Nah, was boring all night," Logan said, holding up a hand to help her to her feet. "Prob'ly a good thing."

Sabine took his hand, getting to her feet with a little wince, but she didn't let go of him immediately. "Probably. Now we can go find the road and make sure everyone's okay and see if Tony went back to the mansion or stayed with the kids."

"Knowing Tony, I wouldn't put it past him to have brought the kids to the Tower," Logan said as he glanced around. Once he properly had his bearings, he started walking.

Sabine snickered, because that was possible. She trailed after him, still wearing his over shirt, and with no intention of giving it back just yet.

It didn't take more than an hour or so for Logan to find the road again.

"Here we go," he said, smirking. See? He wasn't lost.

"Well, it's a start," Sabine agreed. "Now we just have to get back to the mansion." Which, considering she couldn't even see the mansion from the part of the road they were at, could take a bit.

"We're not going back to the mansion," Logan said as they walked. "Not safe yet. We'll call Chuck from somewhere else."

Sabine huffed at his back but trudged after him. "They're probably gone by now," she pointed out reasonably. "It's been hours, and they're probably smart enough to have realized that someone would be calling the authorities on them." But even with the objections, she didn't actually try to change his mind or go in a different direction.

"And for all we know they may be waiting for someone to go back," Logan pointed out. "Best not to go back without a telepath with us."

"True." Sabine jogged a few steps to catch up to him. "So if we're not headed to the mansion, where are we going? Just keep walking and hope someone takes pity on a coupla crazies?"

"To the closest phone we can find," Logan replied. "Gotta call Chuck, then call around to see if we can crash anywhere till this mess gets looked at."

"I do have an apartment," Sabine pointed out. "It's in the city, but I've got room for three friendly people."

"Meanin' really only fit for two, if ya squint," Logan translated, smirking a bit. "Well, if yer offerin', I'm not gonna say no."

"It's bigger than a match box," Sabine offered with a grin. But she didn't actually contradict him about the size of the apartment, because it was rather small. Which normally didn't matter because she hardly spent any time there. "I'll give you the grand tour when we get there."

"If we're lucky, we can get a pickup from someone," Logan added. "Stark might oblige, if ya feel like listenin' ta him rub it in our faces."

"I work with the man, I try not to let him encroach on my private life, too," Sabine said dryly. "It doesn't work well but I try anyway."
