Tony grumbled. "Yeah but that requires at least some motion." He tried to see what he could see without getting up. Because he did not want to get up.
Cameron sighed.
"Easiest thing to do from where you're sitting is cereal," she said. "Third cabinet from the end has bowls, first one on the right of the fridge has cereals, and milk is on the door in the fridge. Spoons in the drawer under the plate cabinet." |
Tony frowned, focusing on getting each item individually for now. He would try to do multiples at once, but he was already a bit tired, and he didn't want to break anything. Not in here. He'd practice with the balls later.
Cameron watched as he got everything he needed, subtly supervising. He didn't seem like he needed help, but she was ready for it just in case.
Tony managed to get everything to the table without a problem, and poured his cereal. The cereal box made it back to the cabinet, and the milk made it back, just barely. But it made it, and Tony was going to count that as a win.
Cameron grinned.
"That was good," she said. "You're really doing better." |
"I practice," Tony said with a grin, looking pleased with himself. "At least someone notices my progress."
Cameron laughed a bit.
"You're so modest," she teased him. "How ever do you manage?" |
"It's not easy," Tony said with a big sigh. "Nobody appreciates me at the tower, it's disgusting, really."
"I'm sure," Cameron said, grinning a bit. "I'll bet it's rough on your poor rich boy sensibilities."
"It is." Tony sighed exaggeratedly. "So hard on my poor heart."
Cameron couldn't help it, she laughed.
"You're such a ham," she said to him. |
Tony grinned. "Life is more fun that way, after all." He did lean back in his seat and relax, though, with her.
"I bet it is," Cameron replied. She grinned. "Though you do have a habit of building yourself more toys."
"I do, but that's because I can't not build toys." Tony shrugged. He could admit that much, after all. "It's fun, it's a good distraction."
"That's just because you're a crazy engineer," Cameron accused teasingly. "Though I kind of wish I could see some of the fun stuff you build. There are rumors, you know."
"You can see," Tony said. "Just drop me a line, really, I will let you into the workshop." He grinned. "I'll give you the grand tour."
Cameron blinked.
"Really?" she asked. "Just like that?" She'd thought he'd be more rabidly protective of his workshop. |
"Oh come on, I've known you for how long now?" Tony asked. "Really. I wouldn't mind you stopping by sometime. Just don't bring any of the brats with."
Cameron snorted.
"I'm not a chaperone," she said. "They know better than that. But are you sure it'll be alright? I mean, nobody there will have a problem with a freak being around?" After all, she was fairly certain that Tony hadn't told anyone he lived with, at least not yet. |
"I've got mutants working in the building, and at least half the team knows what I am." Tony shrugged. "No one will mind, really."
That made Cameron pause.
"You told them?" she asked, surprised. "I didn't expect that, from you." |
"I didn't need to. They guessed. I just didn't disagree." Tony shrugged. "The team is pretty observant on their own." He paused. "Well, okay. I told Brucie, because I couldn't not tell Brucie."
Cameron just raised an eyebrow at that. That sounded like there was a story behind it, and she wanted him to spill.
"Brucie. Science bro." Tony shrugged. "I can't not tell him something like that. Besides, he wouldn't judge, and he likes mutants."
